I’d like to tell you all about the app REFUGE RESTROOMS :) This app is for my fellow transgender and gender nonconforming pals to find gender neutral / unisex restrooms!! As you can see, there aren’t too many downloads!! I love this app though and it is extremely helpful!!! You can log new restrooms as you find them to help your transgender and gender nonconforming pals!! Please help out!!!!!!

I was gonna save it and post a literal doodle dump, but that hasn’t happened so here. x’D I made this several months ago because I wanted to mess with Illustrator’s weird paintbrush stroke thingies so I drew Jinx!

Jinx belongs to Mumble’s parents and actually has cat ears but shhhhhhhh…

You know, I realized that the cogs in toontown do look resemble the UPA style of animation in the 50′s-

This art style, known for its extremely minimalistic approach to character design and background as a way to rebel against the pear-and-sphere approach of the on-going style of the late 30′s to 40′s, became popular to use to the point it became synonymous of a 50′s to 60′s cartoon (just like the soft calarts style that is quite popular today or the inkblot felix the cat style in the 30′s) for its simplicity. The kicker is where did the studio come from and what else was the style used on.

The UPA as we most famously know came from a Disney’s Animator’s strike in the early 40′s as the staff members felt unhappy with the ultra-realistic style of animation that Disney had been advocating and pushing through. The members felt that animation did not have to be ultra-realistic to be good and that the efforts were constraining animation as a medium.

The studio was also notable for mainly using human characters as protagonists, as they felt using talking animals was too passé at the time, thus creating a novelty.

Not only was the art style known for its usage in cartoons but also its appearance in the various commercials running at the time.

Granted that eventually the limited animation and simple flat shapes were used in Hanna-Barbera and other studios as cheap ways to create cartoons, it still makes a point, especially considering that Toontown takes its inspiration from the golden age of animation:

Cogs are actually toons.

But not the zany, wacky, foo-de-froo-froo and a roo-de-roo-roo type. It’s the black comedy, script-like-writes-the-story, perhaps artistic inspired type of toon.

So, it’s a old vs the new, where the old looks new and the new looks old.

the only glitch i’ve encountered since the fix is that sometimes the ball will glitch when it gets in the hole and will shoot out, but its better than it was before.
