the SU theory posts i’ve made that have “aged the worst” are definitely the ones where i confidently assert that steven has the individual choice to forgive people you wouldn’t forgive, so don’t shame him for that, and that he would never shatter someone. because steven doesn’t want to just “kill the bad guys” as a solution.

thing is though, i’m not wrong in spirit. because what i really mean is that the show doesn’t think it’s bad to forgive. the show doesn’t think it’s good to shatter.

what makes those posts age poorly is that i did something i’ve since come to complain about - people conflating steven’s morality with the show’s morality. these are separate things.

in my defense, i think these two things were more aligned in the OG show. SU future still retains the original show’s morality, for the most part. the main thing it does differently is to just lampshade that steven himself is a flawed character. he isn’t always going to perfectly live up to the show’s ideals.

which is a good thing btw! i think a show about flawed people learning to be better is incomplete without allowing its main character to be similarly flawed. he shouldn’t always be stuck helping others + asserting his identity more based on who he’s not (his mom) rather than who he is.

so yeah. i’m not sorry about those posts - i think a lot of my old theoryposting still holds up when you see them from the pov of the show’s overall morality rather than being about steven’s feelings. but i definitely misjudged steven as living up to those moral ideals more than he did.

still, that’s something i’m happy to be wrong about. i like that steven is as flawed as everyone else.

there's this anti zionist jewish creator on tik tok and their videos have been blowing up, with the abrupt increase in followers (mostly muslims and arabs it seems from the comments) over the last few days they posted a video reminding people that they're trans and the entire comment section is palestinians, muslims, arabs saying that they don't care about them being trans they're just grateful to get some coverage on this that isn't everything shy of "palestinians need to be genocided"

I love TOH but it makes her another victim of Cartoon Thick Disorder where fat characters get slightly wider hips and rounder faces but animators still draw them hourglass waist no tummy no double chin EVER and the fandom takes it as a license to be fatphobic. Yeah you get it… fat features(double chins, thick arms and legs, etc etc) never get shown in characters in animated tv shows unless they’re a villain or a comedy relief. The Toh fandom is a lot less fatphobic compared to other fandoms, but there are still people who desperately try to deny Willow is fat by referring to her animated body shape or arguing she’s just buff, despite the fact that the toh wiki states that she is a plus size stocky girl. I’m tired of this cartoon thick whatever you call this, I’m sick of these people having a problem with fat characters but that’s gonna make me draw Willow a lot more.

Honestly I find it frustrating that people are glad that I draw Willow fat, not at the people but at this situation where almost every fat/plus sized/even slightly overweight characters gets drawn like “thicc” or just skinny characters that’s nothing like them so it’s relatively unusual to have “fat” fanart of them. When Vietnam reunited in 1975 most people just stayed and lived their lives normally and more peacefully than before, the expats flew away. In fact, the majority of the people who fled Vietnam were doing it on their own, and the leaders of the South Vietnam government were released two days after the reunification, with a saying that they're now a citizen of a free Vietnam.

If Palestine one state transition happens it would be almost the exact same. I promise, the transition from now to one state Palestine would be just that. Everyone would stay, the ones who want to flee will flee. But we're so far from that reality, and there might not even be Gaza any time soon.

Some fatphobic bigots of course had to reply to my comment on a video where I talked about how disgusting it was that Weird Al used the death of Cass Elliot as a fatphobic, cruel "joke" in a song when she died due to starving herself four days a week for this shitty world that hates people who look like her. When she faced oppression her entire life because of people who viewed her as worthless as Weird Al did when he used her eating disorder death and subsequent "death by ham sandwich" rumor that spread in the media the next day as a punchline. When she's six feet under, involuntarily left her only child parentless, and spent the vast majority of her life trying to be what this thin-glorifying society wanted of her and STILL she faces fatphobia and bigotry to this day while fucking DEAD.

Some smart ass decided to reply to that with this here, and I don't even know what to fucking say at this point.

When people who claim to be leftists are bragging about their cruelty and lack of care whatsoever for the deaths of fat people by oppression, that really shows just how horribly fat people are treated in this world.

Because I'm disgusted to say that most leftists I could talk to, picking any random person who identifies as progressive, would also be like this jackass. Fat people have no mainstream activism movement despite fighting since the 1960s. We don't even have ways of reporting discrimination against us because the world views fatphobia as the definition of acceptable and even justified. If I want to report fatphobia on websites like this, I have to hope the post saying fat people are ugly sacks of disgusting whale blubber will get taken down if I report it as promoting eating disorders or discriminating against people with a disease. I have to be fatphobic and use fatness's bigoted and unfactual categorization as a disease to try to report people who think fat people should be killed by literal genocide and have no problem telling me that like they're talking about the weather or their favorite food. And 90% of the time the website I reported it to will still do nothing and tell me the person who thinks I should be slaughtered for not being fuckable to them hasn't gone against their community guidelines, so their post can stay! Yay! 💕

Like there are a lot of forms of oppression that parts of society do view as acceptable, but those forms of oppression are still given a fuck about in the mainstream media and culture. They still have organizations fighting for them, protections under anti-discrimination laws, attention galore on websites like Tumblr, are talked about in classes about oppression that are taken by people who are going into helping professions. Fat people have fucking none of that despite that all being the absolute bare minimum for fighting oppression.

A full half AT LEAST of the fatphobic bigots who interact with my blog are proud fellow leftists who have "DNI terfs" in their bio and posts all over their own blog in support of any oppressed group you can think of. When I say fatphobia is treated as acceptable, that fat people are this world's final punching bag with zero consequences, I fucking mean it. You can't pretend otherwise when people who claim to fight for equality are actively supporting your oppression at every opportunity they can.

Anyway, it's 6 AM so I probably didn't write this well, but I'm fucking done with how fellow "progressive" people and oppressed people of other groups, including groups I myself am a part of, treat fatties like me.
