Own opinion:

There's a point where jokes of characters trauma become normalized when people go through what the characters have gone through but whenever they joke around they sound like they don't really care it's fine joking but if you in the comments go ahead and laugh at their trauma not the joke itself (you disgust me)

I'm only saying this because people become more insensitive and if they are like that with their ocs there's only a few steps before they treat someone else the same way.

You can joke as long as you take the characters trauma seriously and not all the time make a trendy funny meme about it there's nothing wrong with you having a laugh once in a while but if that's all you do about your characters you don't truly care about them. Or their trauma.
