I believe whatever doesn’t kill you simply makes you… stranger.
Heath Ledger as The Joker THE DARK KNIGHT (2008) dir. Christopher Nolan
As a shipper I want to see that cut scene with Lalo taking a shower in Nacho's house. Of course I want.
But the worst thing is that they cut out the scene where he told Nacho "only so many people you can trust". Like, it's a very important line, no? It shows us how Lalo feels about all people around and how he feels about Nacho. It shows us that before Kim's words he already singled out Nacho among all the people whom he doesn't trust by default and made him his confidant. It shows us that he is willing to give Nacho veiled advice about the impossibility of trusting random people and Lalo isn't a guy who gives life advice left and right, so it indicates that he considers Nacho a special man.
It's killing me to know they left all those endless scenes Kim and Jimmy brushing their teeth, and yet they cut the one scene that would explain what exactly Lalo thinking about when brought Nacho to Mexico, the one scene that would have given infinitely more depth to the betrayal, that would allow us to understand what Lalo thinks about Nacho and about himself, his own blindness and gullibility. But Jimmy and Kim are main characters and Lalo and Nacho are not. So creators decided they didn't need subtle conflicting feelings, it have to be simple.
So we have Nacho "he's a soulless pig I wish I kill him myself, idk why though, he wanted to promote me and his cousins saved my life but I hate them all so much. fring? no, fring's good. he threatened to kill my father? big deal! I hate salamancas, that's all that matters" and Lalo "nacho? who's nacho? I know only one guy on the planet, his name is gus fring".
For some reason I think his collarbone is the sexiest thing I've seen on screen.

lalojesse where they go to mexico after nacho's death but it's like rebecca. you get it
Tony looks old. Somebody have to make him dye his hair. Wrinkles ok, wrinkles are the price to pay for charming lively facial expressions, but gray hair is not.
It's still wild that Lalo hired a kid who he says had never hurt a fly as a guard and is so angry about his death (which of course was due to Lalo using him as a meat shield, but I'm pretty sure in Lalo's mind that's all Gus's fault).
Lucky to Be Here aside, I think Ciro had to be the son of another beloved peasant who Lalo took under his wing. An orphan maybe?
Yeah I was thinking about it.
Lalo was a mentor figure to him not someone else so I think Ciro is an orphan.
Also maybe he never wanted to use Ciro as a shield. He just wanted to push him away but it didn't go well.
I wish I could read the script of that episode sooo badly...
Lalo is genuinely upset because his chosen family died and he is mostly alone now. Nobody cares about him, nobody looks up to him.
Maybe he told Saul about Ciro so Saul can understand his "pain"?
After all Lalo planned to use Mateo as fake corpse long before... I can't tell what's inside his head really.
Yeah, it would explain why Lalo yelled at him and slapped him upside the head when he generally doesn't lose his temper. That's Salamanca familial affection/training!
I've watched the meat shield scene like 500 times and alas, he definitely pulls him in front of the bullets lol. But I'm sure that from Lalo's perspective, he was given no other choice, and therefore it's not his fault. Same for Mateo and his wife - he genuinely liked them, but he likes himself more. I don't think he wanted to kill Fred Travelwire either, but what else was he supposed to do? Lose his only lead? And Howard's death was a great opportunity to get jimmy and Kim's cooperation immediately - time was of the essence!
Everyone is an NPC to Lalo. He's the main character in his mind, and while casualties are sad (sort of), they aren't of much consequence to him except how they relate to his story. You can tell when he's relating ciro and yolanda's deaths to jimmy that he is outraged that gus took away "his" people - it's sad only because he lost something. I'm sure he feels an equal amount of sadness at the loss of his beautiful home. And yes, he's definitely trying to make jimmy understand why he's being "forced" to do all this and how egregiously he's been wronged. Revenge isn't really taken for the dead, who have no feelings. It looks selfless, but it's in fact selfish.
