nako has a knack for finding herself in situations that lead to unfortunate situations. there’s a joke that is on her tongue. she really tries not to let it leave her mouth as she ran a hand through her bag in an attempt to find her make-up.

“ ... you don’t mind a bit of make-up, right? ” she asks as she eyes him better. his complex eyed similar to hers so she thought that the bruise he just got may be hidden with some simple foundation.

the blessing that came with the curse of having mischievous friends is that nako isn’t easily scared by a touch or loud voices. today she was off-guard for a good reason. for all she knew she is off to a nice place to study at and forget the fact she has to do groceries later. i can always get some snacks later or order something, she thought to herself.

suddenly she hears a shout ( or a yell - don’t ask her ) and she jumps up a little. she holds a hand to her chest, lets out an exhale of breath and then she turns back to see who the offender, victim or whoever they are is.

“ ... what the hell - no, excuse me for that; are you okay? ”

did you do the assignment? there was no question singlehandedly more heart-stopping than that – especially when she was completely unaware that there were any assignments available. despite running from class to work, to her second job, she had been sure that she was completely caught up on all of her work – but apparently, she wasn’t quite sure enough. and that was all that crossed her mind when she had bolted away from her friends to set up shop in the library with her laptop, an energy drink and a modest stack of notebooks.

her eyes constantly dart to the clock and back to her empty page as the deadline loomed over her – she was tired, and could not help herself but to give out a heavy sigh. she didn’t even think anyone would notice her – finding someone that wasn’t stressed in the library was like a needle in a haystack – but snapped her head up at the sign of the other’s voice. “me?” she questioned, “oh – yeah, i’m fine, just last second assignment’s thrown me off, especially seeing as it’s due in a few hours – don’t suppose you know anything about architecture?”

“ yes you, ” she answers still quite polite. in hindsight it may have eyed rude, but nako hadn’t found it the time to bother herself with that subtype of formalities. to hear of the horrors of assignment making had instead made the emotion of pity evoke within her. she can only imagine the suffering the other has to go through.

“ ... not really a lot to be honest, ” she replies.

she’d open a guest tab on her chrome page. “ ... i am quick with finding out things however. ” her essay could wait a bit for now. she had all the time in the world. “ am quite adapt with using google scholar. ”

“oh!” his expression is somewhat surprised, but that was probably his fault of assuming everyone was korean if they spoke it well enough. a lot of the times he doesn’t even hear accents when he’s otherwise preoccupied. he’s usually pretty good at paying attention, but just sometimes when he’s too tired or distracted because he’s so busy. “yes, i’m slowly learning it … i’ve been self-teaching myself for a couple years now in my spare time and i want to take the proficiency test soon …” 

he smiles at the girl, though his expression is a little bit shy and he shows her his phone tentatively. “you commented earlier that i was saying this wrong right?” dongmin asks, a bit intrigued and he hadn’t noticed he was reading aloud but maybe he could get a bit of help, if she was willing. “could you tell me how it’s supposed to be pronounced? a-ah, if it’s not too much trouble! it’s okay if you don’t want too.”

“ ohhh i see, ” she notes with a hum and a nod. now she understands the whole situation correctly. it’s like when you teach it to yourself by watching anime, she thought absentmindedly. the thought of what she originally came her for was long forgotten. was probably something about coffee. she’ll order it later on. “ sure, lemme see. ”

she leans in a bit to read better what’s written on the phone. “ hmmm, i see where the problem lies, ” she says as she nods to herself. she puts a finger underneath her lip and thought for a second of what word is pronounced similar.

“ do you know how to pronounce the english word for bending? ”

sungyeol stares at nako for a moment before he steps from behind the picture that he had been planning on giving to his mom for another of her events. it was simply a take on warhols pop art with purple, blue, and pink as the colors.  that was why he brought her over, because she’s a makeup artist and she knows color. was it really a bad idea? “yes?” 

sungyeol waits for a response and when she says that it seems purplish, sungyeol joins her side and stares at it as well. “it was supposed to be blue with a like smidge of purple…is it really that purple?” 

nako lets out a long hum as she squints her eyes at the picture. “ to me it seems that way, ” she replies as she lolls her eyes a bit to the side. “ it could be the lightning that makes it look purple. ” she sighs to herself and scratches her head. then she looks at sungyeol. “ we can maybe check out the hex colour of it. ”

“ do you have photoshop? ” she asks. “ if not we can always go to those colour checkers online. ”

Working at a flower shop might not have been Eunbin’s favourite pastime, but it was nice nonetheless. She always preferred when customers where there – well, unless they were rude – so she’d actually have something to do. With a polite smile, she turned to the female, as her train of thought was stopped by the other’s words – not that she minded, staring at flowers got boring after a while.

“Sure, that’s what I’m here for, what is it?” she asked. If her aunt had heard that, she would have complained about Eunbin’s lack of proper, polite speech, so the girl threw in a friendlier smile for good measure.

nako thought to herself as annoying, but the smile of the other meant everything was alright, right? “ thank you, ” nako replies. if one could take a moment to hear what she’s saying they would hear a sigh of relief between the words. she clasps her hand together and tried to show a less nervous smile on her face. “ you see... ”

there was a pause for a second as the letters recollected in her brain to form a proper sentence. “ i have an art project coming up soon. since it’s based around nature i thought of going with flowers. could you please help me when it comes to buying the flowers whose meaning involve love... besides roses.  ”

he was hoping to maybe take his japanese proficiency test sometime soon, maybe after this semester of school when he had had a long enough time to study for it but since he wasn’t back in school yet, he was still studying it in his free time. so he’s in line to get coffee before work, reading over his notes on his phone. 

what he’s not expecting, is for someone to interrupt him. 

“huh?” dongmin glances up in slight confusion when he’s noted that a voice has interrupted his thought process. he hadn’t realized that he had been reading aloud until now and his expression turns apologetic. “sorry – wait, do you speak japanese?”

nako gently shakes her head. “ no need to apologize; it’s alright, ” she says with a silvery voice. then she nods and points to herself. she at first wanted to make a joke about how obviously japanese she looked. she decided against it because she couldn’t crack a good joke around it. “ born and raised in japan though i’ve been living here now for a while. ”

she crosses her arms over each other. a small, polite-looking smile is growing on her face to replace her earlier expression. “ and i see you’re... ” she pauses for a second. “ - trying to teach yourself japanese, right? ”

her fight or flight reaction made his eyes widen. lips parted he couldn’t even give her a warning before she ran face first into the pole, leaving him to snort out a laugh instead. that itself was already hard not to laugh about but the cusses she exhaled under her breath really had him snort through his nose in his futile attempts to stop himself from laughing.

now he didn’t speak japanese but that much he could understand. “are you… are you okay?” he inquired after he had somewhat gathered himself, camera tugged away and palms up to step closer and check up on her while making sure she wouldn’t try to run again.

“that was one hell of a reaction if I’ve ever seen one. straight out of an anime.”

she would try to switch to korean, and failing a few times, and succeeded in her fifth attempt or so. “ i’m fine, i’m fine, ” she mentions as she rubs her nose as if it would work with getting the pain to go away. nako sounds rather sulky while saying it too. why the hell did i react like that? she thought to herself.

she laughs, but there’s no humor to be found in her voice. “ yeah. after all i gotta keep up the motherland’s pride. ” no chuckle came from her mouth whatsoever. she didn’t find it funny. it did at least its job as some gateway line.

studying in a library is something she came to welcome. it was a spot where she could do what she needed without getting annoyed by loud people. it had seem she wasn’t the only one however. others had found their way here and nako didn’t mind it at all. she is happily typing away the essay she was to write for school.

it is a given that at one point she’d stop. she was about to take a sip from the cheap, local coffee of the library itself before she hears a deep sigh. head turns a few degrees around to see who could be in a bad mood.

it is always quite amusing when she random stranger tends to fall asleep on her shoulder, it is surprising too as they are quite boney but somehow sleepy passengers always end up crashing on it. she would remember the times she has done it to other people, so she can relate how embarrassing it can be too. it tends to be people who look like students who fall asleep on her so the school must be exhausting for them so she didn’t mind at all. 

once again as she takes public transport, a younger girl used her as a pillow and looks like she finally awakens from the nap as she looked so startled by it. minhee just smiles chuckling softly, “don’t worry about it, did you have nice sleep?” she said curiously with a brow raised with a friendly smile painted across her lips waiting to hear her response. 

nako was about to stand up and bow many times out of pure embarrassment and to apologize, but then the other spoke. she’s shocked for a second. then it hits her and she starts to grin rather nervously. “ y-yeah, i did, ” she replies with an awkward laugh.

quickly would she look at the map that was supposed to give her the location. it would be at least five stations until she arrived at where she needed to be. then she sighs deeply.  “ still; my apologies though! ” nako says as she waves her hands like those characters from series she used to watch.

“nah I dun need nor do I want a baby sitter. y’can sit back n’ watch my epic stunts if I manage to do some but beyond that I’m all in it for the good times!” she talks big when actually yena does not plan to make herself the center of the party. the fool truly just wants to have a good time and see things unfold while letting loose herself.

especially with how long it had been since she got to set up a lot of firework rockets the girl is looking forward to the party. “oh! firework rockets, yas. we still gotta get those too!”

“ ‘s long as you don’t hit a wall while trying to jump over with you should be fine, ” nako mentions as she stretches herself slightly to get feelings in her arms because of the sheer cold. “ if you get my gist that is. ” she’d give yena a wink. a jester she may not be, but she at least knows her references.

it would switch over to a blink as she gazes at her friend with curiosity. “ oh really? ” she inquires. “ keep em away from certain people though. ”

chaewon is confident in the bareness of her face; she’s been religiously following her skincare routine for years now, proud of the glow her skin possessed. sitting beside nako, she picks up one of the foundations and the matching brush, grinning. “those are very wise words, nako-chan. i, chaewon, am ready to go, too!”

 and with a wink to the camera she begins to apply the foundation neatly over her face. “it does feel weird to be doing this without a mirror…” she speaks as she works on perfecting the base, never forgetting that people are watching them, expect them to make this entertaining.

“ yeah it does, ” nako says as she starts with the basics. with her fingers feeling the texture of where she applied everything does she hope to at least not look like a clown. “ you ever heard of where’s waldo? ” she asks, but nako doesn’t expect an answer. “ this is pretty much that but with make-up. ”

comments stream in which she can only read in figments with how many people enter the stream. “ we can’t go worse than some game youtubers i’ve seen. ”
