Kyungsoo begun his preparation for the interview as soon as he stepped off of the stage. Being one of the first to perform, Kyungsoo had plenty of time to think about what he wanted to say. The interview questions were likely similar to the ones in the first episode and from what he saw in the episode, people’s interviews were more likely aired if they gave negative reactions. This meant, at least in his mind, if he wanted more screen time, he had to give interesting responses, possibly the sort that could start controversies.
He fixed his eyes on the stage, keeping note of interesting performances while also thinking about who he could potentially take a dump on. The safest option was likely Suwoong since the guy would never be able to truly hate him after all the free rides he got over the years. However, from what was shown of the first episode, there was already a strong rival thing between two family members. Perhaps a loving cousin relationship would suit the camera’s taste better. That, was literally the only reason why he actually got up and clapped during dear Susu’s performance when he ran around the stage like an idiot asking for more cheers. When he realized not many other people were standing up, Kyungsoo awkwardly sat back down again - it was such an embarrassing moment.
What? You think he should just be honest and answer however he want? Don’t be a fool. If this didn’t work out, Kyungsoo had to go back on his path to future CEO and any misbehaviour on this show could come back to hunt him. There was no way in hell he was going to let a televised survival show he entered on whim affect his public image, even if it was aired years before his potential success. An intelligent man must think ahead and Kyungsoo knew from a brief once over of the crowd of kids that there were quite a few who thought things through like he did, despite their young age.
Perhaps he shouldn’t risk railing on people yet. Maybe later, when he has more information.
What did you think of the results last week?
“There were quite a lot of contestants eliminated. I’ll be honest, I lost a lot of familiar faces and now have to figure out who to sit with.” He smiled, giving his head a light shake. He didn’t like sitting with strangers but the idea of making new friends also felt exhausting. Kyungsoo will admit, he wasn’t the extroverted type like his cousin and most of his close friendships involved a persistent person who didn’t mind his silence, judgment and occasionally smacks to the shoulder. Just sit with Suwoong? Oh hell no. He’d rather get shot than sit with his loudass cousin and his pack of howling wolf friends. “You guys have to admit, I may not be a good dancer but I know a solid choreo when I see it. All of the dancers I really enjoyed made it through to this round.” Hoseok, Yena and Taeyang.
How do you think you did?
“Everyone certainly looked shocked when I threw my glasses on the ground. I hope I didn’t scare anyone but I was trying really hard to get in character. I think when you channel a certain persona, your voice naturally changes to fit it. I like telling stories with my performance.”
Do you still have those glasses?
He nodded, pulling them out of his pocket with an awkward smile. “In case I become an idol one day, these will be on sale as Do Kyungsoo’s smashed glasses during MGAS 5 performance. I was thinking about charging an insane amount of money.” His expression showed that he wasn’t serious. “Just joking, interviewer noona. I am planning on keeping them as a souvenir. A reminder that I was on the stage and I did a performance I am proud of.”
Who do you think is the best under each skill?
“I don’t listen to enough rap songs to be able to determine what is considered a skilled rap performance. Hyeon did catch my attention because of his song choice because it wasn’t fast all the way through and had slow parts. In addition, I liked the little movements he did with his hands while rapping. Those movements were small but they were quite on beat, I think.” Perhaps the kid was secretly an all star and can dance too. Kyungsoo wouldn’t be surprised. If he could move well with his hands already absent minded, then who’s to say what he could do with his feet.
Dance wise...hmmm. “Yeji chose a very passionate song and I definitely felt it in her expressions. Taeyang was good as always but of course, I still like Hoseok the most. Oh, Eric did a girl group song, didn’t he? I remember laughing during that because it was fun. Hyunggu did a mash up and I thought that was creative.”
Singers he shouldn’t talk about too much because of direct competition, but bringing up one or two should be fine. “Yuri was good. The song she chose was one of my favourites from the movie.”
kyulkyung finds herself in a private room yet again - relaxing back into her seat as makeup artists touch-up the glossy skin of her face, the woman coughing as she inhales a cloud of setting powder before swatting the hands away without thinking. coughing, the staff members watch her ( probably annoyed that she’s wasting their time ) but moving back in with brushes and sponges. although inhaling an unhealthy amount of powder is not on her list of favorite things about the mgas, she could definitely say she could get used to having her makeup done for her.
she knows the drill at this point, knows to adjust her posture and make herself not look so exhausted in front of the camera. at this point during the day, the adrenaline from performing has died down and all that’s left is weariness and undoubtedly hunger.
oh, she couldn’t wait to get a burger after this.
despite the exhaustion of her day weighing on her shoulders, kyulkyung can’t help but look forward to one of her favorite parts of filming days: the interview.
WELCOME BACK, LET’S GET STARTED?
nodding her head, kyulkyung let her signature smile swim onto her lips - eyes on the blinking light of the camera before they settle on the lens. the interviewer begins to speak and dark orbs snap in their direction, crossing her legs and placing her hands on her knee as she awaited the first question.
Q & A CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING IT TO EPISODE THREE - WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION TO LAST WEEK’S ELIMINATIONS?
“well, i was definitely excited! but pretty disappointed, and scared, you know - i was pretty much a mess.” the woman laughs, “i was excited to continue and move on, but scared because i know this just gets worse. and well, i was just disappointed to see some contestants go. i mean, JUNG HOSEOK should’ve been safe - he was pretty good, wasn’t he?!”
Q & A HOW DID IT FEEL WORKING WITH ANOTHER CONTESTANT THIS WEEK?
“excuse my language, but i was so. freaking. excited.” when it came to working with other dancers, there was nothing the woman loved more. to learn and work with someone who was just as good ( if not better ) than yourself, that was just a treat in its own. not to mention how fun it is to perform in the end. “i love working with other dancers, and PARK WOOJIN and i worked really good together. he’s a cute and talented kid.”
Q & A HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR AND WOOJIN’S PERFORMANCE WENT? ARE YOU SATISFIED?
“in the end, i think we pulled it off pretty well.” perhaps she was a bit biased, but she couldn’t help herself. “it was stressful preparing at times because you don’t want to be the reason you two lose, you know? and choreographing the routine made the week fun, but it definitely added some stress. but i don’t think we could’ve done any better - i mean, did you see us up there?”
Q & A THIS WEEK’S DUO CHALLENGE IS DIFFERENT FROM WHAT WE’VE SEEN SO FAR THIS SEASON. WERE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO ANYONE’S PERFORMANCE IN PARTICULAR?
“KIM MINKYUNG’S” the woman replied instantly, nodding her head as if agreeing with her own words. “her and CHOI YEWON were grouped together, and i just thought it would be interesting to see her working with someone else. she’s got such a stage presence on her own so i had a hard time imagining her in a duet.”
Q & A WE’RE SURE YOU HAD SOME FAVORITE PERFORMANCES TODAY, WERE THERE ANY THAT DIDN’T MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS?
“honestly, i think i can actually say no to this.” this week had to top all performances this season, filled with a day full of new looks, performances, and expectations set. after seeing what everyone is capable of especially in a situation such as this, kyulkyung’s nerves were stimulated once again.”rather than those who didn’t meet expectations, YOON JEONGHAN and PARK JINYOUNG exceeded anything i could’ve expected. like, wow i was pleasantly surprised.”
Q & A WHAT PAIRING SHOCKED YOU THE MOST?
“hmmm i think i’d have to say JEON HEEJIN and KANG DANIEL. they’re both super talented, but their images are so different in my opinion. heejin is just so small and cute and you want to adopt her and daniel is like... her dad? wait - can you cut that out please?”
Q & A WHICH DUOS DO YOU THINK WILL ADVANCE TODAY?
“this is really hard to say this time around because i don’t know what the judges are looking for.” she wanted to say everyone, but she knew that was unrealistic. some teams would set foot on the mga stage for the last time - this was a competition and it’s one of the hardest things she’s done. “going off popularity, i think i would say CHOI MINHO and LEE NAKYUNG will advance, probably KANG DANIEL and JEON HEEJIN too. but i really think YOO TAEYANG and TADAKA KENTA did great this week.”
Q & A AND WHO DO YOU THINK WILL BE SAYING GOODBYE?
“ahhh once again, i don’t know.” she bites down on her lip, gnawing on the flesh nervously. “as much as i would love to say no one, i know there will be people eliminated and at this point, it’s really hard to say. so yea, let’s pass on this!”
ALRIGHT, THANK YOU. THAT’S ALL FOR TODAY.
the woman stood and thanked the staff members, bowing and shaking hands as she went. another day, another interview. and now she’s ready for that burger.
Congratulations! You were one of 100 chosen to continue to the televised callback stage.
This was something Kim Seokjin did not expect.
He had woken up as usual and followed his routine of checking his phone. When he had gotten to his emails stage, he was surprised to see an email from the mga staff. Expecting it to be a rejection, Jin casually opened the email and began reading it. The further he read, the more surprised and shocked he was. He had never expected to make it this far and now he was being invited to the next stage. The only thing was it was televised. Jin spends all his time in front of cameras, but this was something completely different. He quickly typed quick texts to those he thought he should tell, and he gave his grandmother a quick call. He ended the call with a small smile on his face. His grandmother always knew how to uplift him.
He continued about his day as usual and thought about what he could perform. It took him some time, but he finally decided on the perfect song.
D-Day was finally here, and Kim Seokjin was about to take one step closer to his dreams of being a rapper. The line was not as long, and the crowd was not as large as they had been at auditions. He was sure there were thousands that auditioned. This thought only made him feel even more shocked that he had made it this far. He did enter just for shits and giggles. He never expected to go through.
Inside, the chairs were set out to the side of the stage and a large table was placed in the centre. There were five chairs from what Jin could count, which meant there were going to be five judges. Interesting. Jin only really knew two people who were at the auditions; his sister, and Hoseok. There were a few people he knew by face or acquaintances, like Bella. Being a personality meant that he would collect himself an anti-fan or two, and one of those antis was also here. He had seen her outside. Hers was the performance he was waiting for the most.
The more people sat down, the more crowded everyone looked. He was just glad that he was sitting near Yena. The show started, and everyone seemed to focus on the stage. Jin sat back in his chair and placed his bent leg over his other thigh. He listened to whoever was talking. He had missed that part and now he had to go all show without a name. He didn’t care as he wouldn’t need to interact with the host. All he cared about was who was judging.
And what a shock that was.
When the five judges were revealed to be the CEOs of the five big companies, everyone seemed to have a big reaction. Some gasped, others had a hand over their mouths. Jin seemed to be the only one who remained relatively calm. He was starstruck by seeing Tiger JK, however. TRC was his dream company and always had been. Tiger JK was an idol and an influence.
Once everyone was settled again, the performances started. He felt kind of bad for those that were going first, as first sets the standard, and last, as everyone is tired and worn out. He only hoped that he could find himself in the middle somehow.
There were people from all over the world it seemed, and Jin was amazed at how many people had seemed to come from abroad. Growing up overseas sounded like an adventure that he was glad he did not partake in. he loved Korea and being Korean and wouldn’t trade it for the world. He listened to the introductions and he watched the performances, making sure to take notes as they went. There were a few Japanese contestants and one of them skated his way off the stage, which made Seokjin let out a snort of laughter. He shouldn’t be laughing but it was funny, and he didn’t care.
Kim Seokjin watched his sister with pride. She was the only one he paid his full and uttermost attention to, and the only one he cared about. He smiled as she danced and laughed softly at her introduction. He was like a proud dad watching his child perform. Except it wasn’t a child, but his sister. When she finished, he clapped loudly and cheered for her. Once she was back at her seat he informed her of how proud he was and of how well she did. There were a few more performances for him to sit through before it was his turn to shine, as they say.
❝ Kim Seokjin ❞
Of all the judges to call his name, his idol was the one to do it. Tiger JK had called out his name and he was frozen for a second in shock and awe. It took a moment for him to snap back to reality as he made his way onto the stage, facing the judges.
❝ Uh hello. I’m Kim Seokjin. You can call me Arrow. 24. Daegu born. I think that’s it? ❞ He shrugged and smiled slightly at the judges as he waited for his backing track to play.
Jin had decided to both rap and dance, while focusing on his rapping, as it was his strongest skill. He had chosen a fun song that is easy to dance to and fun to rap. It wasn’t the hardest rap song in the world, but it was fast enough to not detach from his technique when he danced. The music began, and he started off confidently.
I’ll run over to you with just one phone call,
my number is 1988-0818
Let everyone you meet know,
I’m the first class of the celebrity world
Because I’m different, because that’s just me,
because people go crazy over anything I do
Because I create trends, because I change everything
so this skill isn’t going anywhere
The verse wasn’t long nor too challenging, so he had seemingly breezed through it. What the rap lack in difficulty, he tried to make up for in his dance. His rapping was strong and confident, and his moves were clean and sharp. Being on a stage was nothing new to the rapper. He felt at home. It was almost like another night underground. Jin made sure to remain confident and keep a strong stage presence as he performed.
Get back, this isn’t a joke
Young and rich, that’s just me
So I’m fast, so what? It’s okay, are you joking right now?
Cuz I’m not joking
This song had English parts which weren’t hard for him as he knew enough of the language to pronounce the words as best he could. He kept his dancing strong and free. He didn’t dance the entire time, he would also move around the stage as any rapper would do.
(Hello)
Yes sir, one of a kind
I’m a talented bear (no) more of a fox than a bear
(Hello hello hello)
Yes sir, one of a kind
I’m a douche, (wuh)
I’m an expensive person (get out)
The chorus was easy and fun as he didn’t need to do the hello parts, so he could focus on his dancing. The moves in the chorus were fun and energetic.
This is already my second album,
I don’t steal from empty homes
My rap takes her to the bedroom and lays her down
Yeah, I’m busy busy
Money flowers bloom at my business
I don’t rest cuz my songs
build buildings – (I love it)
Seokjin continued to behave like he does on any underground stage. He would walk from left to right or right to left while also moving his free hand. He would dance when he could without getting too distracted from his technique and breathing.
“This tiny guy tries to come on stage and stir things up
But I don’t like it,
it’s not pleasant to see
I turn my head here and there
and wherever I go, it’s his music
His pictures are everywhere,
even though he pretends he’s crazy,
they can’t sell his stuff because they don’t have it”
You can’t live because of me?
He rapped faster this time, trying to show what he could do without rapping too fast. He still danced and his confidence grew.
Get back, this isn’t a joke,
young and rich, that’s just me
So I’m fast, so what? It’s okay, you think I’m joking?
Cuz I’m not joking
Lalala please view me in a pretty way, don’t speak about me
Lalala please accept me in a cute way, please love me
Seokjin ended on a high and he bowed before the judges. He thanked them and made his way off the stage. He was done, and he had some time before the interview, so the rapper set about finding himself a toilet. He’d been busting since they started, and his performance only made it worse.
If Yuta was honest, he didn’t know what he was doing at the new Royal building. Everyone had been whispering about it and he’d seen the announcements. He had had little intention to go there until his sister had messaged him, asking if he could go and try to secure her some Brave Girls or Luxe merchandise. If she wasn’t pregnant, he would have made it clear to her that it was a ‘no’ and he wasn’t wasting his free time going there. Somehow it had slipped his mind until he arrived at the doors that he could have simply asked Jaehyun to pick up what his sister wanted -- it would have saved him a trip. The noise and clamour made Yuta crinkle his nose. Usually he didn’t mind the energy of crowds, but he’d already spent most of his day training and all he wanted to do was go home and rest.
One of his hands slipped form his pocket, rubbing at his eye as he made his way around the cafe, glancing over everything around and trying to seek out what he’d come there for. A task which might have been easier if he knew who the Brave Girls were and what Luxe looked like. He’d only every met Zoe, once. In a hallway. Everyone else was a girl that he never bothered to truly focus on. Yuta was slipping around a group of excited high school girls, when he tripped over one of their feet and stumbled into another person. “F.. Sorry,” Yuta bit back the curse that threatened to come out, glancing over his shoulder at the girls who were unaware of their actions and back to the person he’d bumped into. His brow furrowing immediately. God, he fucking knew this person. He was sure of it. His eyes squinting closed more as he concentrated on them, waiting for the memory to click over and then his hand shot up. “You! I know you!”
Coco closes the door right after Hoseok enters her apartment, she puts down her bag with food to take her jacket off with her freezing hands as she keeps her gaze on Hoseok “why is it always so cold in the winter?” she says with a smile on her face.
Not really sure how, but Coco managed to convince Hoseok to come over to her apartment, and afterwards take a walk outside in the cold winter, and on top of that to cook dinner with her. She stretches her arm to hang her jacket as she switches her gaze from Hoseok to her jacket. Slowly sitting down while taking off her boots, she thinks about whether they will succeed at cooking or not. Standing up while still smiling bright, Coco looks at Hoseok “are you good at cooking? I don’t cook often” she says as she keeps her gaze on Hoseok and walks past him. She stops and goes back to the door once again, she lifts up her bag with the food and then turns around and goes past Hoseok again.
“when it’s winter, it’s best to eat warm food” she says as she takes out the food from her bag and lays them on the kitchen table. “I’m happy that you’re cooking with me” she says as she smiles even brighter. Coco rarely cooks, and when she does, she mostly does it alone or with her brother or mom, and her mother is no fun to cook with so Coco prefers to not cook with her.
Taking out two mugs from a cabinet, Coco puts one of them on the table and waves the other one as she looks at Hoseok “cocoa?” she asks him while still smiling bright.
In Eunbin's eyes, every day was a perfect day to practise, the only difference being, that today she was going to a dance room. Her friend had invited her to join in on the fun and Eunbin could never say no when dancing was just as much as mentioned. She'd first went there with her friend a little while ago and didn't know anyone too well, though that didn't matter much to the young, but confident, girl.
She got ready just in time and soon enough was on her way to meet her friend, so they could go the rest of the way together. However it didn't take long for her friend to send a message with disappointing news.
“Sorry, I can't manage today, but have fun!”
The friend wrote and added the address in a message after, for good measure. Not that she'd forget the place so fast, but well. Eunbin sighed, a mood drop inevitable, but the girl knew her mood would pick up again soon enough. She wasn't going to let something like this ruin her day, plus, going alone she could just as well make new friends. Maybe she'd find someone to spend the rest of the day with – after all it was her only day off this week and she wasn't going to let this got to waste.

SKjun Hobi, a friend of mine did a really good job on this picture during our little firework session in Jeju. #jeju #photography #fireworks #winter #friendsession #thesquad #modeling #instaboy #flowerboy
A blank mask ready to be painted. That was the metaphor her drama trainer had taught when she was merely five. Back then she thought that teacher Hyun was being literal. Naeun had walked around for the first hour of that class waiting for her trainer to put makeup on her face. It was not until later did they clarify it to the little girl.
A blank mask ready to be painted. As she grew older the actress had taken those words into her chosen performing art. With every movie, show, and theater she had committed herself to, Naeun started out as a blank mask ready to be painted by the character she was to portray.
Although she has never been involved before or had any real infatuations, she thought this would be the best opportunity to portray the role of someone pinning after another. The song was quite meaningful on its own, and though she could sing well, she wanted to put some emotions into it.
그대 듣고 있나요
나의 목소리 그댈 향한 이고백
지금 듣고 있나요
이런 내 마음 들리나요
창가에 떨어지는 빗방울처럼
내 맘속에 물들어가는 너
I need you, I need you, I miss you
She glanced beside him at the man who she imagined she was directing her ‘feelings’ to. Regardless of the fact that she saw Hoseok as a pretty awesome older brother. It was easier to play a role when she can visualize the other characters around her.
그대 듣고 있나요
나의 목소리 그댈 향한 이고백
지금 듣고 있나요
이런 내 마음 들리나요
창가에 떨어지는 빗방울처럼
내 맘속에 물들어가는 너
I need you, I need you, I miss you
Naeun singings the chorus a twice more before finally officially ending her part. The dancer leaned back from the mic and watched Hoseok perform with so much more emotions and vigor than she could ever imagine. There was something captivating about the way he went about this cover, he made the song his own. The actress felt no regret choosing him to be her partner for this video, and she hoped her audience felt the same too.
