Unsure if I ever uploaded this here, but this was a massive deal for me. I got to meet the guys that I've been listening to for the best part of 13 years. Ever since I first heard 'a favour house atlantic' and getting way too excited looking up this band and all their prog rock greatness, I've been hooked. I remember getting a couple of their songs onto my IT login at school to show my friends who in turn became huge coheed fans as well. After finding out all of their songs (up until the latest album) were concept albums shortly after blew my tiny 11/12 year old mind. It got me seriously into music and it made me start drumming, start singing and all in all opened up a massive world for me. And then this year on the 31st of January, 11 year old me got to meet these guys, albeit in my 23 year old body. I was practically speechless, and frankly to those who know me, know that's pretty far removed from the way I usually am. I spoke to them, they were as cool and kind as I could've hoped for, they signed various bits for me and even signed a deck of cards that I had on me. The deck of cards was something that I put in my back pocket in the hopes that I'd have the guts to perform a card trick for my all time favourite band. Upon asking them to sign the pack, Josh asked if I did magic tricks. To which I replied with yes, would you like to see one? "We're already pushed for time and I'm going to get shouted at, but god damn I wanna see a card trick" Josh replied (as far as I can remember that is a direct quote.) So I performed a couple of quick card tricks for my favourite band. 11 year old me was in fits of hysteria at this point. And then they went and performed an amazing set, which if anybody reading this has yet to see these guys play live, go and see them, it's as simple as that. All I can say is, I will remember that night for years and years to come. The guys were great, kind, cool and altogether seemed excited to meet each and every one of us. Thank you Coheed and Cambria, for the past 13-ish years of my musical life. And for being as cool as I could have possibly hoped. To whoever said 'don't meet your hero's' well you my friend can suck it. Tl;dr: I performed a card trick for Coheed and Cambria. Fuck yeah Coheed and Cambria!!

a 90’s kid? don’t you mean sad adult?
70,000 people have reblogged this but no one is trying to defend themselves
There is nothing to defend
#i read a post once that described 90s kids as the generation of nostalgia #because so much technological advancement happened in such a rapid timeframe when we were growing up #that we can clearly remember having technologies that are now obsolete #like going from a corded hugeass phone to a small computer in your pocket just within our formative years is a major thing #and it sparks a nostalgia for our seemly ‘simpler’ childhoods #because so much rapid development makes it seem like it was a lot longer ago than it actually was (x)
This is the most solid explanation of our decade I have ever heard.
Oh my god
Just to add onto that, our childhood wasn’t even technology based. We grew up knowing of chalk, skateboards, jump rope, street hockey, playgrounds, butterfly collecting, etc. Slowly technology took over our lives and now there are hardly kids playing outside in the summer. We can clearly remember our childhood as it was and now we can see the clear line between it. We were the generation right smack in the middle of it all. Our parents were of non-tech and our children/young siblings will be all tech.
Not to mention, ours was the last generation that grew up with all those bright promises of “work hard, go to college, and you’ll have a successful life,” only to find those hopes abruptly dashed when the housing bubble burst. Milliennials have grown up expecting that disappointment, because for them, the problem has been there since Day One.
So 90s kids aren’t just nostalgic…we’re BITTER. And we ache for those days when we could still think that the world was boundless and full of the opportunities we were promised since the first day of kindergarten.
Every time someone adds to this i have to reblog.
This though.
“We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won’t. And we’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off.” - Tyler Durden (Fight Club 1999)
