Why does he need $4,000 specifically? Is that his maximum out of pocket costs with his insurance plan? Or is that how much the whole surgery costs if you pay out of pocket? American healthcare sucks!

We set the fundraising goal because in our area of the US the surgery usually costs $6,000, but his insurance will pay at least some of it. If we are able to reach the goal before he’s able to get the surgery we may up it in case his insurance covers less than expected.
