scientists are in labs right now creating the thinnest and worst material known to mankind so they can make womenās clothing
Spaghetti strands that are 200 times thinner than a human hair could be woven into bandages to help prevent infections
Technically they're using it for bandages. For now.
Quote from the article
The resulting ānanopastaā can then be spun into a tiny mat about 2 centimetres across. While it isnāt intended as food, Clancy says that it should be safe to eat, but is reticent to talk about having tried it. āItās an ethical quandary to talk about scientific self-experimentation,ā he says. āBut, hypothetically, one might expect it to be chewier than youād expect.ā
Oh he's definitely eating it
scientists are in labs right now creating the thinnest and worst material known to mankind so they can surreptitiously eat it
exactly
i fucking hate the āthis is the good luck post.ā Girl stop contributing to a superstitious environment with ur anecdotes thereās a million goddamn notes on it itās statistically reasonable that a bunch of people remember the good things that happen after they reblog it
this is the statistically reasonable post, reblogging it will have no effect except for putting this post on your blog
guys this post really works! I reblogged it and it really did put the post on my blog! you need to try it!
i'm getting the sense some of you are not actually forklift certified.
well damn . egg on my face
THE PLOT THICKENS @averagejoey2000 explain yourself
I can't believe this is how I'm finding out that I got a scam forklift cert.
I took the cargo ops class at school but my teacher explained that it doesn't give a certification and I'd only be okay for ship's crane and the school forklifts. she said I could take an online exam and get my cert. I paid 60 bucks.
I'm googling and I'm seeing a lot of resources saying that the online programs cover the classroom part of the exam but not the in person practical aspect.
29 CFR 1910.178 (l)(2)(ii)
but I did the in person practical shit at school.
the back of the card even had fancy numbers on it. I couldn't have known that this isn't the one. this website sounded more official than certifyme.net, and there wasn't one with a .gov address.
so, I emailed OSHA, and they said that so long as I live and work in California, there's no such thing as forklift certification. I have to be told how to do it every time I get the job.
Update: I took a certification class in shipboard Material Handling Equipment at my federal job. *now* I'm forklift certified, but only on ships and piers and only for this company, but also rated to forklift explosives and hazardous materials. Also I'm a woman now.
controversial stance but i do wish i could live forever. i certainly live like i'm going to live forever. i take my time. realistically however my lifespan is dreadfully limited and there are things i've "been meaning to do" that i will never get around to. the Emoji Movie came out almost 10 years ago. in all that time on any random day i could've decided to sit down and watch it, and i did not. how many more decades will slip by like this? conceivably, it could be all the decades i have left. watching the Emoji Movie would not be, after all, a crucial use of my time. much better things to do. i could easily postpone it over and over and over until my final breath where it may not even register to me that i never did watch the Emoji Movie. no great loss, certainly; and yet i find myself intrigued by Patrick Stewart's involvement
Rest in peace Akihiro Miwa (1935-2026)
I haven't seen anyone talking about this and just wanted to make a quick post on here.
Akihiro Miwa recently passed away peacefully june 20th, and was not only a drag queen and a queer icon, but also the japanese voice of Arceus in the movie Arceus and the jewel of life, as well as the witch from Howl's moving castle and Moro from Princess Mononke.
Rest in peace and thank you for the wonderfull impact you made in this world.
i gave my sister $100 for her bday, but i gave it to her inĀ $1 bills that i folded into origami. so thatās how she pays for delivery food & now the pizza girl thinks sheās a stripper
Youāre really good at origami holy sh
i learned it specifically to make these for this exact situationĀ
Arenāt you the same bitch that gave your sister $100 dollars in nickels?
same bitch
Yeah, neither of these things happened šš¼
listen here my good hoe, i canāt find photos of the 2000 nickels or the 20 stars, but i did not spend weeks planning meticulously inconvenient birthday giftsĀ over a period of years just to get whaled on by internet gremlins. here is some equally compelling evidence for an anecdote i was saving for later:
it weighed 68.6 lbs
same hellion yes
Planning to quit ahead of time is a great advantage. Not everyone gets it. In most states, people can be fired suddenly,Ā for no reason. Other people need to leave their job abruptly because of absolutely untenable issues likeĀ workplace safetyĀ orĀ harassment. Those people do not have the luxury of planning a soft landing for themselves.
But if youāre planning toĀ quit voluntarily, you can do what they cannot.Ā You can be strategic.Ā Yāknow, likeĀ Light Yagami eating potato chips! And in doing so,Ā you can extract a ton of value back from your employer and/or your government before you go.
I quit my job and retired forever in 2022. As my final date approached, I systematically went through this list myself. It saved me thousands of dollars. It also prevented a lot of logistical headaches for my future self. Which was important, because I wanted to set her up with a low stress post-job lifestyle. Listening to the hold music for the COBRA continuation assistance hotline was not on my retirement vision board!
This article was originally published upon my retirement. It jumped immediately into our top-ten most popular list, and has stayed there pretty much ever since. Now that weāve branched into audio and video formats, Iām sharing it again, along with a few new ideas generated by our amazingĀ PatronsĀ and readers.

Watched a documentary about abuse and advice one guy said to give children was, "Tell them that if someone is hurting them, to tell someone - and don't just tell one person. Tell as many people as possible, and keep telling as many people as possible until the abuse stops." and i really liked that
Bc so many ppl focus on the idea of telling A Trusted Adult, but even a well-meaning individual can fuck up and let abuse fall through the cracks or not know what to do
Whereas if a child tells LOADS of adults AND other kids, there's far less opportunity for an abuser to do damage control
Consistently telling their story and spreading it around disempowers the abuser to control and coerce the flow of information, or to utilise gaps and weaknesses in systems of reporting or welfare to isolate the child
Just really good advice. Not suprised I don't hear it more often.
90k hahahaha get fucked cunts
The Carpentras Stele, the first ancient inscription ever identified as "Aramaic", 4th century BCE.
TheĀ Carpentras SteleĀ is an Egyptian-style funerary monument inscribed in Aramaic and now preserved in the BibliothĆØque Inguimbertine in Carpentras, France. It commemorates a woman named Taba, depicting her before the underworld god Osiris and later as a deceased person being prepared for burial. The inscription follows Egyptian funerary traditions, praising her virtuous life and wishing her well in the afterlife.
The stele is historically significant as theĀ first Northwest Semitic inscription ever published in modern timesĀ and theĀ first Aramaic text to be published, although it was initially mistaken for Phoenician. Discovered in the 18th century, it sparked a long scholarly debate over its language and literary form. By the early 19th century, scholars had conclusively identified the inscription as Aramaic, with some of its vocabulary showing parallels to the Aramaic found in the biblical Books of Daniel and Ruth. Today it is catalogued asĀ KAI 269,Ā CIS II 141, andĀ TAD C20.5.
