@nonumbersblog
thinkin about my two hundred different embarrassing and completely self-indulgent daydream universes that iâve actually taken time out of my day to create content for and have never shared with anyone bc theyâre that embarrassing but not being able to stop bc theyâre one of the few things that bring me genuine joyÂ
these kids are so ahead of their time this looks like a sketch from adult swim that was never quite finished but its so abstract and post modern theres some sort of meaning to this and im dying to figure it out before its too late
Me in the morning.
What the hell is that thing supposed to be?!?!?!?!

Donât make fun of right-wing children. Donât bully right-wing children. Donât scream at, lecture, or swear at right-wing children. I say this because I was that child. I was the child forced by my parents to stand outside of clinics holding signs that say âAbortion Kills Children.â I was the child who went to church every Sunday and could parrot every bull shit argument opposing gay marriage. I sounded smart. I sounded like I formed those opinions on my own. The reality was I was being psychologically abused. I was brainwashed and indoctrinated. I had no sense of self until I was much older. I had been wiped clean and filled with garbage. I have PTSD in part because of my childhood. Today, I am telling you, that those children NEED you! They need you to show love and patience and compassion. They need you to guide them out. Those children holding those signs are children begging to be seen. See them.
To add - this is a tactic right-wingers use to push their kids further right! The kids see well-meaning lefties being assholes and think âwow, I guess my parents were right, lefties ARE bad people who donât think of the well being of the children and attack the underdogâ etc., for real, these are kids and have in all likelihood experienced some degree or other of cult conditioning/abuse.
Honestly one of my fave posters at a Womenâs March

The year is 1995, congress member Bernie Sanders stands in opposition of a homophobic statement said by Duke Cunningham. Cunningham derisively refers to âhomos in the militaryâ to support his argument while (strangely) discussing the Clean Water Act. Sanders, having none of it, quickly rises to the defense of thousands of men and women everywhere. Sanders ire is such that he repeatedly disrespects the Chairman by speaking over him in order to say his piece. [Video Source]
What does this say for Sanders? Well, thatâs for you to decide. But to me, it says that for 20+ years strong he has shown his public support for LGBT+ persons everywhere, even in the face of ridicule and disrespect. Unlike some, Sanders has always been vocal about his beliefs concerning the LGBT+ community, and he has always held them. Key word always, and not just when doing so might garner him support for his campaigns.Â

whereâs the interview w/ andy samberg where the interviewer asks about why thereâs no jokes made around holt being gay and andyâs face twitches like âdonât do it.â and the interviewer goes on like âwe live in such a weird PC culture though!â and andy laughs so uncomfortably i need it for scienceÂ
The ironic thing is, there are plenty of jokes which involve him being gay. But it just doesnât register as humor to those people if itâs not making fun of him for it, or using his sexuality as the actual punchline. A show actually respects its characters (for the most part) while still managing to provide top-notch humor and all a lot of people have to say is complaining about âpc cultureâ
hereâs a link to the video if anyoneâs interested

i donât understand how anyone whoâs watched the episodes where ray holt pretends to be a hetero would ever believe that there are âno jokes about him being gay.â
because thatâs not the problem. the problem is that the jokes about him being gay are specifically for an lgbtq audience. theyâre jokes that heteros donât understand because for once, weâre not the punchline like we usually are. weâre not being made fun of in a way that tears us down. theyâre jokes about the absurdity of our existence. of having to fake being straight, even though a lot of us are actually really bad at it, and having straight people actually believe you.Â
the other really great example is that one joke ray holt makes in the first season, about how the hardest thing about being a gay black police officer in the nypd is the discrimination. that joke was funny for so many reasons, and yet, not a single straight person really got it when i watched it with them. it feels like there are no jokes because the jokes arenât intended for straight/homophobic people, where the punchline isnât all about how they relate to us. itâs about how we relate to them for once, and thatâs the greatest thing.
other showâs lgbt jokes are âloltranswomenâ or âlol flamboyant gay menâ
brooklyn nine nineâs lgbt jokes are âwe got married as quickly as we could bc we were worried theyâd repeal itâ and then footage of Kevin and Raymond not letting the officient finish his sentence before they say âI doâ
i remember watching the first episode of season 4 where jake peralta â one of the main characters of the shows who could so easily be depicted as a toxically masculine cop who doesnât âgetâ political correction or like, basic human decency in general â casually mentions the existence of transphobia in passing. the show had been fairly liberal and good at playing jokes for laughs instead of hurting peopleâs feelings, but this solidified my loyalty to the show and its brand of humor.
whatâs more, jake mentions transphobia in connection with media content and delivers the line in such a way that it was only after seeing this post (literally months after the initial episode aired) that i realized people who are not queer or in the know about queer things would not find it funny because they wouldnât understand it.Â
in short: jokes at the expense of others humanity is rarely, if ever, funny. consequently, b99 comes out with better hi-jinks and bigger laughs because they get it and work within those (not actually at all limiting) confines.
PLEASE WATCH BROOKLYN 99 IT WILL HEAL YOU.
I love this fucking show TO DEATH
