wanted to do a small shoutout to @cowplant-snacks and their new post about changing their lighting mods that inspired me to do the same and while these are such dumb screenshots, I genuinely ascended when I got the same effects as my heavy ass reshade, but its gameplay friendly and it doesn't mess up my UI.

it's a mix of sunblind by @softerhaze , cozy days lighting mod by @averyping on curseforge, and an edited version of oshinlite v2 by @oshinsimblr ✨

Observing the Paralives discourse as someone who never got into the Sims is so wild. The players are complaining about things that would be a non-issue in any other early access indie game. "The game is unfinished" please look up the definition of an early access game. "They won't be able to maintain a game with no paid DLC" plenty of devs can and do.

And then there's whatever the fuck is going on in the modding community right now.

we gotta get back to torrent distribution, i just watched someone eat eight grand in bandwidth charges because they ran a direct-download piracy site with local file hosting through cloudflare. torrents were invented literally for this exact reason

torrents work like this

i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3

unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it

i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map

i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs

this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.

crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.

hello friends! the other day, @cinamun reminded me of those really cute overalls that EA decided to ruin with an unnecessary hoodie. so, I went ahead and removed the ugly thing.

honestly, removing the hoodie was the easy part. matching the replacement top took forever. not to mention the journey i went on trying to fix ea's borked puffer vest mesh, which I couldn't have done without the incredibly kind @surely-sims help ❤️❤️❤️.

this edit is for masc frames only as repeating my efforts on two separate models would result in me pulling all my hair out 😅

Jellypaws - AI meshes and previews

Casualsims - AI previews. Meshes idk

Sonyasims - AI previews. Meshes idk

Pixelvibes - AI previews. Meshes no ai usage there ❌

ddarkstonee - AI previews and meshes

Dustyrat - They used to use it for their previews, but no longer do. Mesh no ai usage there ❌

pastelpaws/xxxtigger/pasteltigger - uses AI for previews last I checked

ironvolt545 - I am going to assume their meshes use AI or they use AI to “help” them “create”

sims3melancholic - has used AI for those “highly realistic” skins they have recently made

Sims found shot dead in Miami, go support the hell out of Paralives while it’s still in early access. Indie development isn’t easy but I’d so much rather be part of the process and community early on than to cave to some mega corporation. It’s so fun, there’s so much freedom, and the jank is no worse than *some* life simulation games that have been recharging for the same content for the last 15 years…

damn everyone coming for Twistedmexi throat for paywalling a Paralives camera mod for a whole MONTH. The sims community even wrote a whole article about it *click* + Plumlace was mentioned too.

It’s nice to see everyone standing their ground. let’s not allow anymore of these scammers take advantage of a brand new game and community!
