The joking way Dan and Phil described their fictional phwedding at the o2 arena on the podcast sounds like a calmer version of Danny and Drew’s wedding from the fanfic video a couple of years ago.

they knew they were three months from telling everyone they’ve been in a relationship since they met and dan wrote d <3 p in ketchup and made a beeline for a camera to show it off before walking back and letting phil see. and they’ve never fucking talked about it since.

i watched heartstopper forever this morning and people are already being so weird about it. this may be a slightly long post so i’m gonna put a read more. also SPOILERS !!!

literally the only posts i’ve seen talking about this movie have been stuff along the lines of “nick nelson being a bottom was not on my bingo card”

like. can we not? these characters are children. and sure teenagers are allowed to have sex and i think the show itself did a great job of representing childhood sexual experiences without overly sexualizing them. but of course, on the internet, everybody’s going to be sexualized no matter how it’s portrayed in the show.

i just wish people paid more attention to the message of the movie than just purely focusing on sex. because while yes, they did have a couple of sex scenes, that’s not what the movie is about. it’s about discovering who you are as a person away from your romantic relationships. it’s about learning how to communicate with your partner even when you don’t want to upset them. plus, there were so many little, beautiful moments that nobody is taking about.

a small boy being the first person to show up for the LGBTQ+ club that charlie organized.

mr. farouk and mr. ajayi dancing together at prom, surrounded by students cheering them on.

tori talking about how, although her relationship with michael is quite different than a typical relationship between a boy and a girl, it is still valid and they still have each other.

elle being scared to go to pride because of how difficult it is to exist as a trans person in the year 2026, then leading an entire float full of queer people chanting about how they want trans rights. 

nick helping a scared dog become more confident and thereby getting her adopted and smiling for the first time since breaking up with charlie.

mr farouk saying that queer people have never asked permission to exist.

two older men ordering coffees at the cafe charlie works at and just being another old married couple (one of which was played by sir derek jacobi??? what???)

the movie itself was just okay but it really shined in these little moments that really encapsulated the queer experience.

also it’s kind of weird watching this show as a grown adult now lol it came out when i was a teenager and i don’t really feel like i’m in the target audience for it anymore. but i hope younger queer people really connected with this movie. i just wish people, especially adults like me, handled the sexual themes of this movie with more tact.

"Okay, incision. Then do another one. And then I'm gonna stick it in-"

"Fist it! Fist it!"

"And then I'm gonna-"

"Yeah."

"Connect the thing. 3-2-1."

Page four:

Dan wipes his brow. "And we've got airflow!"

Phil checks on a fully healed, happy Pheal. "Phey're back!"
