Double standards

What I find fascinating and repulsive in equal measure are the unfathomable double standards in this fandom, in all fandoms dominated by women/girls, and society in general. Some of the scenarios I’ve seen in my time here would have caused an absolute outcry if the gender roles had been reversed.

If a guy touched a woman without her consent, be it their crotch or other body parts, the entire world would be outraged.

If a guy yelled at a female artist to show her tits while she was on stage, the entire world would be outraged.

If a guy threw his underwear at a female performer, the entire world would be outraged.

If a guy stood in the audience with a sign saying something along the lines of ‘Sit on my face’, the entire world would be outraged.

If a guy made inappropriate comments or catcalls a woman, the entire world would be outraged.

If a significantly older male interviewer (even though the age doesn’t really matter) enquired about a female’s sex life, the entire world would be outraged.

Is that outrage justified? 1000%. The behaviour I’ve described above can’t be tolerated in any way. But shouldn’t the same apply to men? Shouldn’t we be just as disgusted when a woman does any of these things to a man? What makes us think that a male somehow does’t deserve privacy, respect or bodily autonomy? 

Treating someone with basic human decency knows no gender. Do better.
