you can hear it in the silence 📝 nellie
Nora knew she shouldn’t be surprised really. It wasn’t exactly the first time she’d been stood up for a date, she doesn’t know why she even entertained the idea. How did she get herself dragged into this in the first place? She let out a heavy sigh as she finished the second glass of wine. She needed to get out of here, she couldn’t stand the sight of the waiters’ pitiful looks any longer. 45 minutes. That’s how long she had waited. 45 minutes just sat on her own at a table reserved for the two of them, she’d gone through two full glasses of white wine and had to suffer through countless of questions from the waiters about when her ‘date’ would be arriving. It turns out never. Since they couldn’t even be bothered to show up. Worse than that, they couldn’t even be bothered to give her a call or a text explaining why. Just nothing. Silence. She pushed through the door of the restaurant with a little more force than was necessary but she couldn’t help it. She was pissed off. Not even at her no-show date, but at herself. For getting her hopes up. For thinking that just this one-time things might actually work out. She couldn’t believe she had been so damn stupid. It had begun to rain as she stomped down the street, she debated on getting an uber back to her apartment but she didn’t really want to be alone. There was only one person who she wanted to be with right now. She knew she couldn’t be with her in the way she really wanted to but she could still be there to offer her some support in her time in need. She hastily pulled her phone out of her pocket and began to send her a text. [3 iMessages] NORA: i got stood up NORA: again NORA: is there any chance i could come round yours tonight and drink until i forget my own name??
elliegilbert:
Do I need to come over and simply remove the batteries? Because I can be that kind of hero for you. Like I said, it’s a special kind of evil that can absolutely be defeated - give technology five years and then you can be terrified.
It's electronic, you buffoon. But I'm sure the batteries will die... eventually. Wow, thanks for the nightmares Ellie. Now I'll never be able to sleep again.
It sucks.
Being so close,
But knowing,
I can’t.
Can’t kiss you.
Can’t hold your hands.
Can’t just hold you.
It feels like I’m holding my breath.
Waiting.
But waiting for what?
I guess that’s the question.
acupmarley:
Thank you so much, Nora! I’m so honored that so many people are willing to come to support me and my work. I can’t believe that this is actually happening!
Well, you deserve it and more! You're incredibly talented and should be so proud of yourself and everything you've accomplished so far. I'm sure this is just the beginning for you. You're going to go serious places, lady!
charliewolfemd:
It’s really okay, I promise. I don’t live at the hospital…yet. Honestly, all three. Are you a triple threat because I am so game for this, it’s really not even funny.
I really worry about you sometimes. No amount of work can possibly be worth all these aches and pains. I'm more than a triple threat but we can just go for the three for now if you want. I honestly don't mind, just say the word and I'll give you the best massage of your life. I promise you won't regret it.
acupofmatt:
It is truly the end of an era. Fuckin’ Cinn-a-stack pancakes and chocolate chip pancakes no more…all bc they want to sell fucking burgers??? Travesty. I’m currently angry over this. I just wanted to continue living my best life and getting pancakes when I’m broke or drunk or both.
It's fucking ridiculous I'm telling ya'. As if we don't have enough places selling damn burgers. I don't know why they'd want to ruin such a good thing! I don't care if they're the best burgers in the world, I would never eat one. Just out of spite. That's the best time to eat pancakes! Drunk or hungover, nothing beats a meaty stack of pancakes covered in syrup.
elliegilbert:
Honestly, just tip the bitch over and claim your victory once and for all. The war against machines will have their unbeatable day soon, I’m sure, but that day is not today, Bardot Babe.
But what if I tip it over and it comes back to attack me when I least expect it? I'm not trying to get myself killed here, Gilbert! I'm keeping a very close eye on it because I do not trust it one bit. It's made of pure evil, I'm telling you.
acupofmatt:
When you’re hungover and want to get chocolate chip pancakes at IHOP but IHOP doesn’t exist anymore because it pulled a Taylor Swift and can’t come to the phone rn bc they’re dead
Every time I think about it I just want to break down and cry. How am I supposed to live without the big island breakfast stack or the red velvet pancakes? My life is as good over. I don't know how I'm supposed to move on from this.
acupmarley:
I can’t believe this is actually happening to me, but it is! I entered a songwriting competition on a whim and my song won third place… which means I’m going to be featured in a set at The Sidewalk Cafe! The showcase will be in July, but if anyone is interested in coming, I’ll get more details as I know them.
Wow, Marley. That's amazing, congratulations! I'm so proud of you, you should keep putting your work out there as the whole world deserves to see it. I'll definitely look out for the showcase nearer the time.
charliewolfemd:
I’m tired and my head hurts, but 48 hours at work is definitely my limit. Holy shit. Someone, I need a massage and coffee.
Damn, I sure as hell don't envy you. You shouldn't push yourself so hard, you know? Now, about that massage... is it your back, your neck, your head? All three? I've been told I'm pretty good with my hands so if you want a massage, the offer is there. I'm not too bad at the coffee either.
Maybe I wasn’t meant for all of this
People come, people go People never stay
Perhaps I am meant to be ALONE
savegracefitz:
Even if you didn’t have animals ( dog & roomba), the ground is COVERED in germs, so it might just be best to leave it where it is either way. It’s not as though there’s not more popcorn where that one came from, lady.
Yeah, that's true... but, that's why they employed the five second rule. I mean, yeah you're right. There was plenty more popcorn in the bag, I just hate to see food go to waste. I know that I would appreciate that popcorn far more than that stupid roomba did.
rocketpowerreg:
If your foot isn’t safe, eventually it’s probably going to try for your feet. Those things look like robotic tripping hazards basically. Ah, you fell down the conspiracy video hole. More than a few of the Mighty Morphin Flower Rangers do the same thing and talk about them at team bonding. You guys would get along, and I’d sit off to the side trying to figure out what’s real and not.
Oh no, don't say that. That's terrifying! Yeah, I keep falling down the conspiracy video hole and just remain there for hours. Wow, that sure is a mouthful. It sounds like it could be fun. I love thinking about what's real and what's not, that is until I end up having an existential crisis meltdown. That's never fun.

savegracefitz:
Is that not the relative point of a Roomba? Just be glad you don’t have a cat and/or dog… little creatures tend to snatch up rogue food faster than anything else.
I mean, yes. But I really wanted that popcorn! Actually, I do also have a dog. So, the threat of losing food that I accidentally drop on the floor is even more increased. I may as well give up and just accept my fate, if the food slips through my fingers it's as good as gone.
acupdaniharper:
Oh my God. I’m going to look like the most unsophisticated woman ever diving on the floor to get to things before my vacuum. Why did you bring this monster into our home, Nora?
Hey, don't blame me! I thought it would make ourlives easier. How was I supposed to know it was going to turn into a killer monster eating machine?
