All I had to say about KM is in this blog, nothing has changed in my perception or views since the last time I wrote about them. I don’t know what else I could add.
I remember when I started to write about them, it was always in a light tone, speculating, having fun. Until I realised how involved some people were in their relationship, how radical they were in their opinions, it was one way and not another. How serious the ship was for them, to the point of being hurt because those two didn’t interact enough or touch enough.
I went through a little crisis wondering if my take on them was irresponsible, if I didn’t participate in that unhealthy behaviour. If I had made things worse by not putting enough warnings. But all the warnings in the world can’t stop people from wanting, hoping or feeling what they want. However I tried to convey that fairy tales don’t exist and that in any relationship can be flawed.
What sometimes frustrated me was the fact that some people were hoping that these two would come out, making a statement on stage with a kiss perhaps. I can understand the desire to feel vindicated above all when you have to deal with people from the cult. But please don’t let K-drama or K-pop fool you. South Korea is not a progressive country at all. It’s a deeply conservative country with all the constraints which come with it.
