Day at the Races
“Biochemist, or inorganic?” he asked, a little absently as he noted down her comments about dogs and personalities. He was going to have to keep that in mind.
“I’m going to guess you’re not a fan of animal testing, then,” he said, looking over at her, then noticing what she was doing. “Ah. Lunch break is over, I take it.”
"Inorganic. I wanted to do biochemistry, but too many labs at the time were interested in...well," Nora shrugged, letting the silence speak for a minute before deciding she should finish her sentence, "most of the jobs went against my morals. I found inorganic to be a lots easier. Friendlier people."
She grinned, "Not a fan of animal testing, not at all. The things they do to chimps, bunnies, mice." she shuddered, "it just ain't right." She looked at her lunch, mostly packed away now. "I've still got a few minutes. I just didn't feel right eating in front of company. I won't hardly notice. I get so wrapped up in my work that it'll be nine tonight before I realize I haven't properly eaten."
