Emil had to be careful to not make a sound as he entered the servants quarters kitchens. If his brother knew what he was doing, he was sure to be punished -or rather Tino would be. He traded the basket for pastries, an excuse to be down here.

Laura replied, just as quietly. “With me, or…?”

“Both.”

“Heh well I’m fine I suppose. No worse than usual. And we’ve heard no word from The Society, I’m sorry.” It was Elliot who had spoken that time.

Slaves that are collared yellow, orange, green, or black tend to be impersonal. They are everywhere, common slaves used for working around the household. They are considered more like livestock and live in the servant’s quarters. Red, blue, and purple slaves are more intimate in a sense. They are bought specifically for blood and sex and nothing else. That means they wait on their masters day and night with no break, always ready to serve their needs. They often sleep in the same bedroom as their masters, and in the blue and purple’s case, on the same bed. To answer your first question, Lukas needed more slaves, not Emil. Emil has Tino and doesn’t need nor want any other. Lukas on the other hand, goes through his personal slaves rather quickly and is constantly having to replace his ‘broken toys.’

Elizabeth and Abel are both mill slaves. They were born and raised into slavery and have known no other way of life. Their masters don’t need to worry about them escaping, because they’ve been brainwashed into believing there’s nothing to escape from. They are content and happy ‘livestock’ who are fed and have a roof over their heads. They do not have freedom, but they do not know that. A collared life is all they have ever known, as it is with nearly all milled slaves.

In their minds, the slaves that were killed must have done something wrong. Their entire existence revolves around the rewards system; Do your job, you get fed. Don’t do your job, you get punished. It’s a fact of life for them.

As with all vampires, human slaves treat Tino with respect. They may all be slaves, but even slave vampires can own slaves, making them more powerful. It’s rare for a vampire slave to befriend a human slave, both all too aware of the boundaries between them. It’s viewed upon about the same as a vampire master befriending a human slave, i.e. very distasteful.
