我從未正式透露過我決定在 2019 年離開妖怪手錶粉絲圈的原因。
坦白說，我當時是動畫黨，而不是遊戲玩家。但身為動畫系列的忠實粉絲，我仍然深刻地感受到了那個時代的巨大變化。
大約在《妖怪手錶》動畫播出期間，第三季開播時，劇情就開始走下坡了。即使在香港，TVB在播出到169集後也停止了續訂，因為劇本開始走下坡。同時，在國際上，該系列在北美和歐洲於第119集時突然被砍，徹底中斷了在西方的播出，《妖怪手錶4》也失去了在西方的本地化版本。眼看著這個系列的未來逐漸黯淡，我最終選擇了放棄。
不久後，《光影之卷》登場，畫風也發生了翻天覆地的變化。原本可愛的風格轉變為黑暗寫實的基調。正是在那時，我決定徹底放棄追這部作品。雖然光影之卷的大蛇在「光明面」依然保持著英俊的外表，但他的「暗影面」怪物形態對我來說實在太過恐怖。這成了壓垮我的最後一根稻草，讓我徹底放棄了這部作品。
彼岸花、凋零的花瓣和背景中的夕陽，彷彿為我熱愛這部作品的時光畫上了句號。這幅畫獻給2019年已經「畢業」的自己，也是對大蛇的最終告別。
今天我花了這麼多時間和精力完成這篇文章，足以證明我對大蛇的熱愛依然真誠。
(Long story and expression that I have never told)
I have never officially shared the reason why I decided to leave the Yokai Watch fandom in 2019.
To be completely honest, I was an anime reviewer rather than a player of the games. But as a dedicated fan of the animated series, I still deeply felt the massive shift during that era.
Around the time of the Yokai Watch anime, the things already started to deel off during season 3 started. Even locally, TVB stopped acquiring new episodes after broadcasting up to episode 169, as the script began to deteriorate. Meanwhile, on the internationnal side, the series was abruply cancelled in North America and Europe right at episode 119, completely cutting off the franchise's western run and Yokai Watch 4 lost its localization for the West. Seeing the future of the series fade away, I ultimately chose to walk away.
Soon after, Shadowside arrived wih a drastic artstyle change. Shifting from original cute aesthetic to a dark and realisic tone. That was when I decided to stop following the series entirely. Although Shadowside Venoct retained a handsome appearance in his 'Lightside', his 'Shadowside' monster form was simply too terrifying and grotesque for me. This became a final straw that made me stop following the entire series.
The lycoris flowers, fading petals and the sunset in the background serve as a closure to the time I spent loving this franchise. This piece is dedicated to my past self who graduated from the fandom in 2019 and a final proper farewell to Venoct.
The fact that I spent so much time and effot finishing this piece today proves my love for Venoct remains completely genuine.
