New York creative duo Molly Young and Teddy Blanks set about creating their own emoji sticker pack when they felt what was already on offer...
âSpecialists at The Mauritshuis in The Hague recently reached out to suggest that we include a 1670 Jan Steen painting from their collection in our app. The suggested painting features an exceptional crying toddler and we were delighted to transform the little guy into an emoji.â

"Working on My Novel" is a book of tweets of people claiming to be working on their novel. 'Curauteur' Cory Arcangel says why and how.
Making Music Out of Internet Video Sensations
YouTube just doesn't stop to be this compelling place to discover new, accidentally-conceptual material year in, year out. Turning jumping cats or Obama's speech into musical collages thanks to cheap, customised editing suites was all the rage a few years ago. Posting homemade live-sync, single camera, instrumental renditions of classic rock artefacts still continues to attract a lot of basement, amateur musicians. And you cannot count anymore the number of musicless/wordless videoclip experiments or shredded version of hit songs.
Unlikely duet composites not dissimilar to Cory Arcangel'S 00s web stunts started emerging online lately, as musicians filmed themselves making music out of non-musical, Internet viral sensations. There has been the Heavy Metal reconstruction of the "Have you ever had a dream" kid video, then Dan Weiss' drum interpretation of auctioneer Ty Thompson, but the pinnacle of this phenomenon would be both the guitar and the piano relectures of the Internet viral video of Japanese politician Ryutaro Nonomura sobbing over dubious spending at a news conference on July 2014.
These are real gems of both detournement performances, and just good plain musicianship. One could find echos of found poetry, late-night imitation comedy, or even see this as a new, more sophisticated twist to the strange and short-lived breed of animal-led 00s bands such as death metal unit Hatebeak and grindcore quintet Caninus, which composed their songs to fit previously recorded 'vocal' tracks performed respectively by a singing/screaming parrot and a female pit bull terrier duo.
Thanks for sharing other weird duet composites on our Twitter feed @NORIGINALS_doc.
