A Room with a View (1985) directed by James Ivory
Howards End (1992)
One of the best (if not the outright best) Merchant Ivory literary adaptations, this beautiful rendering of E. M. Forster's classic English novel about shifting attitudes and values (and gender roles) at the turn-of-the-century balances a terrific cast with a beautiful visual style that underscores the beauty of the natural world in a rapidly modernizing era.
Director: James Ivory
Cinematographer: Tony Pierce-Roberts
Production Designer: Luciana Arrighi
Costume Designers: Jenny Beavan and John Bright
Starring: Anthony Hopkins, Vanessa Redgrave, Helena Bonham Carter, Emma Thompson, James Wilby, Samuel West, Jemma Redgrave, and Prunella Scales
A Room with a View (1985) Director: James Ivory

Context
“We cast a shadow on something wherever we stand, and it is no good moving from place to place to save things; because the shadow always follows. Choose a place where you won’t do harm - yes, choose a place where you won’t do very much harm, and stand in it for all you are worth, facing the sunshine.”
— E.M. Forster
self discipline is so hard like. i know the sucker who's in charge...a pushover who hates authority and loves hedonism

before you say anything, think to yourself “is this something that would have gotten me diagnosed with hysteria and institutionalized in the 19th century?” and if the answer is yes, carry on
