There is often a tape that runs over and over in a grieving child’s heart, that says, "God doesn’t love me. God isn’t nice. God doesn’t care. My life is ruined. I’ll never be happy." Let’s interrupt those lies with the truth of God’s word. Children CAN memorize Scripture. The best way for them to memorize is in interaction with an adult. The parable of the sower, in Luke 8, teaches us the importance of getting the Word in the heart. The seed is the Word of God. It’s sown in the heart. Without having this influence in their lives, boys are at risk of growing into men who have problems with behavior, emotional stability, and relationships with both significant others and their own children.
