Annoyed the ruby redfort series never really did any major plot moment with those little yellow notebooks that got mentioned for literally the entire series

I feel like the notebooks are used to represent Ruby’s personality rather than to be a plot device. They show part of why she was chosen (has always been very observant ect)

But I also think in BAYD (dont have the book on me rn so bare with) she discovers she knew Mr Pinkerton through her accounts in the notebooks, and that Mrs Beesman has his dog, which:

a. connects her to spectrum/casey before she even knew

b. led to her getting the contact lenses that obscured the code

I wouldnt necessarily say they’re chekhov’s notebooks, but they do come back.
