Links heart

A reimagining of an original picture from the Link to the Past guide. The original, I assume, depicts Link holding a heart (or heart container?) but instead imagined as a pretty glowing gem and I think that is really neat.

I do love painted gems, real gems are pretty but not even remotely as pretty and wonderful as painted ones.

Made a little Dio to use as an avatar. He is fun to draw.

Having claimed the Master Sword our hero Link makes his way towards Hyrule Castle to face the evil wizard Agahnim in the uppermost chamber of the tallest tower.

Playing around with foreshortening and reflections, I think it worked out ok.

I have tried to finish this for months. I want some moblins in the foreground but I can not finish them. Their piggy heads and necks are impossible.

Maybe I will finish it later. I just want it out of the way for now.

Does anyone know how to draw moblins?

Playing around with making a short form one-off comic as an experiment and project. I have never drawn a comic before and it is quite difficult and might be beyond me right now.

The theme would be a fight with a loose theme of A Link to the Past. I will have to see if I can finish it, I will continue to work at it.

I imagine that this takes place early in Hyrules adventure, when things seemed more uncertain and hopeless.

The Great Faerie

A redrawing/reimagining of a picture depicting the statue of a Great Faerie on page 51 of the Nintendo Player's Guide: The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the past, from (1992).

Accompanying the picture it is written as follows:

"A Faerie tale recalled -Faeries once lived in special places throughout Hyrule. According to one story, when Ganon stole the beauty from one of the Faeries, the other united and agreed to aid anyone who tried to counter his evil powers. They knew that even the strongest and bravest of heroes would face incredible odds because Ganon had the power of the Triforce on his side."

I find that fairies (or Faeries as it is written in Alttp) has a bit of an odd place in Zelda lore. They are shown to be sentient and wise yet seems to stand apart from all other creatures in the sense that they have very little agency. They are often treated more as tools rather than beings that lives in Hyrule alongside all others. Rarely they act on their own, they seem set apart without history, home or origin. Which feels a bit sad.

I am not very good at drawing and this was a bit of a challenge. I made the perspective a bit extreme and did not commit all they way either which has made it a bit odd. It is a learning experience.

Alttp Rupees

A redrawing of a picture depicting rupees on page 87 of the Nintendo Player’s Guide: The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the past, from (1992).

It is written as follows: ”Citizens of Hyrule and the Dark World could tell how much Rupee stones were worth by looking at their markings. Denominations ranged from a plain single Rupee stone to an ornate 300 Rupee piece.”

I find the idea of letting diffrent high value rupees having diffrent cuts and shapes to be a much more intriguing and interesting rather than adding ever more colours as they did in later games. But this idea fell to the side.
