TAROT tips for Beginners 🌙

⭐︎ Cleanse your deck after you buy it!! This is so so important, because you want to start working with a new clean energy.

⭐︎ There are thousands of ways to cleanse your deck. Cleansing can be something super simple, as just knocking on your deck 3 times or placing a crystal on top of the deck! Just do what feels right.

⭐︎ Interview your deck! After you buy new cards, talk to them, ask them questions and figure out the decks personality. There are a lot of fun spreads for this.

⭐︎ Sleep with your deck. Another good way to bond with your deck is sleeping with it near you. Just put it under your pillow or somewhere close to you over night!

⭐︎ You don’t have to read reversals. It’s up to you if you decide to turn the card back around. Again, do what feels right!

⭐︎ Reversals don’t always equal opposites. If you decide to read reversals, remember that it can have completely different meaning then just being opposite of the upright position.

⭐︎ Start simple. Start out with something simple like past/present/future spread. It’s super easy and gives you clarity on any situation.

⭐︎ Spend time looking at the picture. When you pull a card, really spend time observing at all the different colors and symbols before you look up the meaning. 

⭐︎ Jumping cards usually have something important to tell you. If you’re shuffling your deck and a card jumps out, look up what it means and what message it has for you!

⭐︎ Pull a daily card each morning. This is super fun and easy. You definitely don’t need to do this everyday, but it’s a good way to memorize the cards and their meanings.

and finally, practice, practice and practice! It’s going to take a while until you remember all the meanings, but just have fun and enjoy the process!🦋

To Break a Spell You've Cast

You can use this ritual to break a spell that you’ve cast or that has been cast on you. It’s meant to reverse all energies of a spell. It works for both beneficial spells and curses.

Materials:

black candle

spring water

black bowl

Place the candle into the bowl. Fill the bowl with fresh water, taking care not to get the wick wet. Breathe deeply and meditate on why you want the spell broken. When your mind and your intent is clear, state your intent out loud and light the candle.

Visualize the power of the spell as residing within the flame. As the candle burns down, it will sputter and go out when it touches the water. As the flame is extinguished, the spell is broken. Bury the candle somewhere outside – pour the water from the bowl into the hole with it.

Materials

A Spell to Banish Negative Energy in the Body

You will need:

Sea salt

Black Salt

Candles

Cedar incense

10 drops of lavender essential oil

A bathtub

Start running the water in your bath and light up your candles and incense. Call upon the elements to guide and protect you in the spell you’re about to perform. Then invoke your deities and ask for their divine help in a successful spell.

Once you have your bath water, pour 1 cup of sea salt in the water and state:

“With this salt, I cleanse my body, mind and spirit from all forms of negativity that wish to harm me”

Stir the salt in the water until resolved clockwise while saying “cleanse, cleanse, cleanse”

Then the next ingredient added will be your black salt (just three splashes will do) and state the following:

“I banish any negative energy and entity that ensnares me in its grasp, you are not welcome in this space and I hereby revoke your grasp. I command you to leave!”

Stir in the black salt counter clockwise while saying “banish, banish, banish…”

Then add the 10 drops of lavender oil and state:

“I add lavender to bring the clarity and calm my mind desperately seeks. To quiet the mind and bring me peace.”

Stir clockwise while saying:

“Calm, Calm, Calm…..”

“I sit in the water of calm and peace, no negativity shall come to me. I melt away my troubles from time, in hopes that calm and clarity be mine. I say this once, by the power of three, my will be done, so mote it be”

Then get into the tub and visualize all that negative funk melt away with the bath water.

A Simple Shower Spell

For when you’re in pain (emotional or physical) or for when you just need a little something extra that day.

This can be done any time of day, feel free to experiment with what you find most effective.

As you step into the shower, take a moment to stand under the water and feel it gently patting onto your skin.

“Flowing water from above,

Wash over me

With peace and love.

As you flow down the drain,

Take from me,

My ache and pain.”

Continue your shower as usual. Feel free to add (water safe!) Crystals around your shower as well to help amplify the spell.

i truly think soup is a witch’s best friend! it’s eclectic ‘n frugal, makes lots to be shared, and always yearning for herbs + spices. below is my go-to cheddar and cauliflower recipe, perfect for late autumn (and soothing your witchy spirit)🌘🍂 

🍃 INGREDIENTS //  fills ~15 medium bowls

*herbs n spices (below)  *1 head o’ cauliflower 

*1 large onion  *2 large carrots  *1 large russet potato (peeled) 

*1/4c half-n-half (or substitute^)   *2c shredded cheddar cheese^

🍂 HERBS ‘N SPICES // my general correspondences attached, i infuse my intentions into my food along the way ~ make this recipe a sacred ritual for yourself!

*garlic, 5 cloves - divine protection, strength, power

*black peppercorns, generous - protects from negative energy, uncrossing

*cumin seed, large pinch - drives out negative energy, closeness, offering

*dried red chili, to taste but i use 2 bird’s eye chilis or several dashes of chili flake - passion, realization, cleansing

*salt, generous -  lol everything, prosperity, protection, cleansing

*turmeric, several heavy dashes - abundance, menstrual relief, warmth

*dill, two heavy dashes - clarity, good fortunate, growth

*caraway seeds, garnish - memory work, retention, expression

🍃 RECIPE //

-chop vegetables, reserving 2 cups of cauliflower florets to roast in olive oil at 400°F ‘til crisp

-toast cumin seed, garlic, pepper + chili in soup pot then add veggies w/ generous salt and fill with broth (i make homemade veggie broth every week, click for recipe) or water or both until veggies are ¾ covered

-bring to a boil then simmer until soft (~25 minutes) 

-blend ingredients until smooth. stir in cream, cheese, turmeric, and dill

-enjoy with crispy cauliflower + caraway seeds!

Bring Me Balance Honey Potion

For when you need some soothing energy to calm your frayed nerves.

Items

Lemon(health)

Honey(harmony)

Cinnamon(power)

Mint(protection)

Apple(love)

Clean jar

Cast

Fill the bottom of the jar with enough honey to cover it evenly

Cut the lemon and apple into a few quarter inch slices(the amount depends on the size of the jar and how much you want to make)

Place lemon slice down on the honey(you might need to cut it in half and place it in one half at a time)

Place an apple slice on top of the lemon

Sprinkle cinnamon on the apple

Cover with honey

Repeat steps 3-6 as many times as you like

Place a few mint leaves on top

Cover with honey

Seal the jar and store it in the fridge for two days before use

Uses

Put into tea or warm milk to dispel negative energy and bring healing, protection, and harmony into your life.

Add to a sugar or salt scrub (salt/sugar, olive oil, rosemary, rose petals) to get rid of icky feelings.

Notes: You can scoop out the lemon and apple and toss/bury them if you like, or leave them in and steep in your tea. You also might need to stir it because it gets watery on top and thick at the bottom.
