Happy first full week of the New Year, friends. I hope 2020 has been as good to you as it has been to me. I really can’t wait for all the exciting and wonderful things that lay ahead in this new year. I’ve been enjoying my time off from work, thanks to the school’s Winter Holiday but honestly, I cannot wait to get back to work. I think I might have put on way too much weight from all the Christmas cookies and holiday food but thank goodness for sweater weather, right?
I know a lot of things happened in 2019, some good like engagements and children, new relationships and friendships. But there were also some awful things that happened to people who didn’t deserve it. Life is always bittersweet that way and it’s not always fair but I’m glad that most people have made it through, the best they can.
Either way, I am grateful to everyone -- friends, family and everything in between, that I had in my life last year and the ones who I’m bringing in with me to the new year. I hope you only good things come your way but if not, I hope you will always have people around you, to help you get through it with support and strength. And know there is never any shame in reaching out when you need help. There will always be someone there, even if it’s just me.
But that’s enough sap from me. Just want to say a very happy 2020 to you Riverdale.
I hope everyone is enjoying the Holidays, regardless of what you celebrate! But I’d like to take a moment to announce that starting at the beginning of the year, I’ll be working alongside my dads on the very first Musical of the decade! The chosen play as well as audition schedules will be announced in due time, but know we are still open to suggestions if you have any.
I literally cannot wait, Rach! I think I’ve been looking forward to a new musical, especially one directed and starring you since you came back to town. Please let me know when auditions are being held, I’ll be there with bells on!
Due to unfortunate circumstance, I’m back in Riverdale for a few weeks. I can’t say that I’ve particularly missed this place, the weather, or the people here. Save for the few attractive ones that haven’t managed to escape – here’s looking at you, @rileshuds.
If anyone is aware of where to find a decent meal around here that isn’t Pops, feel free to help a guy out.
I still can’t believe what happened, please know that all of us are sending our deepest sympathies and good vibes your way. But welcome back to town, I’m sure you were very missed around here and I know the weather can be a little iffy for someone who’s used to warmer climates but you’ll get used to it again. Just make sure to be careful when you’re driving, especially since it’s been a long time since you drove in snow. Either way, looking forward to seeing you around for as long as you’re in town.

In case you were living under a rock or still shaking off the hangover from all the New Year’s Eve parties, I’d like to point everyone in the direction of this very special announcement. I had the greatest New Year’s celebration in the history of literally ever for many reasons. One of those is that my very best friend in the world got engaged to one of my other best friends! Thank you both so much for letting Ale and I be a part of this special moment for the two of you. I love you both so much and I think I speak for everyone when I say, ‘it’s about fucking time!’ Congratulations on your engagement and getting your family back.
And speaking of family, Ale and I added a very handsome little dude into our lives so when I talk about the handsome man at Ale’s body shop, I may not only be talking about my extremely sexy boyfriend. I cannot think of a better way to spend the beginning of a new year than having my favoritest person in the world asking the person he loves to spend the rest of their lives together. I have been waiting my whole life for this moment and I don’t think I could be happier.
Its a New Year what better time to indulge yourself in your desires instead of trying to check of the useless resolutions to better yourself? I’ll be working all weekend and I wouldn’t be against seeing new and old faces.
Bree, I don’t know if that’s the best advice to be giving out. It sounds like it could lead to some mistakes and regrets, rather than fulfillment -- which of course, I’m not judging but I don’t know if that’s really what people want. But there should be a healthy balance of indulgences and bettering yourself.
How is work going, by the way? Did you get a lot of bonuses over the holidays? And how have you been?
I have 15 days left of having a four year old and I don’t even know how to swallow that pill. My ever growing baby is going to be five and there’s nothing I can do about it because apparently cranking If I Could Turn Back Time by Cher doesn’t actually turn back time. If anyone has a time pauser or a time machine, please tell me how much it is to rent it.
Aw, that’s so cute, Ryan. Do you have a big party planned? Five is a very big milestone for kids. And if I could help you stop time or turn it back, I would but sadly that technically isn’t available yet and my Hogwarts letter never came, so I can’t even borrow a Time Turner for you. But, if you ever need a friend to help you through it, I’m always here for you.
My 2020 has been great so far, got a new comic that I read in a day, had more slow days at the Drive In which led to more snacks for me to eat, figured out my New Years resolution and my backup resolution, here’s hoping the rest of the year goes as well as the first couple of days.

How do they feel about their family? Nothing but dislike for his father – due to his dad’s alcoholism, abuse, and homophobia. Admiration and desperation for acknowledgment from his mother since she left him as a child. Mixed feelings for his brother because they used to be so close. When they were younger, Blaine looked up to Darius and felt safe/secure/protected by him, would have done anything for Dare but as they got older Blaine became more insecure being compared to his twin and that grew into mild resentment and guilt.
How does their family feel about them? His father was never a loving man or particularly parental but his anger got much worse after Blaine came out in junior high. He doesn’t have many memories of his mother, so most of how kind and loving she was is something Blaine built up in his head. Darius has always been very protective over Blaine and always the person who was on his side. He was always encouraging, though often stoic, he became the main caregiver in Blaine’s life.

Where do they live? A very small apartment on the Northside, close enough to walk to work.
Description of their home: One bedroom apartment, Blaine furnished most of his place by visiting yard sales and the second-hand store, trying to pass it off as a hipster/DIY style choice but it’s still a step up from the trailer he used to live in on the Southside.
Description of their bedroom: A platform bed sitting on up-cycled wooden pallets that he painted. A vanity that he repurposed into a desk and decor that he made himself by getting great deals on fabric or odds and ends.
