tonight I watched ‘voicemails for isabelle’ on netflix and it was really good and I think it would make a really good timebomb AU.
I present the idea of Jinx and Vi being very close, because their parents died in a car accident when they were kids and then Vander took them in, but he died from a heart attack a few years prior. Vi and Jinx live together, and Vi takes over Vander’s bar while Jinx kind of floats between school and work, not really sure what she wants to do with life. one night, on the way home from work, Vi is killed in a car accident and Jinx is left alone to figure out everything and to attempt to stay afloat.
Jinx is struggling and she’s never really had any friends outside of Vi, so she’s completely alone and overwhelmed, and she starts calling Vi’s number and leaving voicemails because she misses Vi so much and she doesn’t know what to do, little does she know, Vi’s number has already been assigned to someone else.
Ekko gets a new phone, and he starts getting random voicemails from this strange girl, and as he listens to them, he pieces together that the number was her dead sister’s. He doesn’t want to bother her, so he doesn’t say anything and lets her keep leaving voicemails. Meanwhile, he’s also struggling because Benzo died recently, and he inherited Benzo’s shop and is struggling to make ends meet.
Jinx continues to leave voicemails for Vi for a while, and Ekko never says anything, until one night, he gets a voicemail from her, and he can tell something is wrong. She’s crying, and she tells Vi that she’ll see her soon, and Ekko knows what she’s going to do, so he goes after her to stop her.
He finds Jinx standing on the edge of a bridge, and he confesses that he had been getting her voicemails and he had gotten worried after the last one. Jinx confesses that she and Vi used to come to this spot together to talk, and she is severely depressed and wishes it had been her that died instead.
Ekko manages to talk her down and convinces her to come stay at his apartment for the night, and slowly they begin to bond and fall for each other,
