Je ne peux pas expliquer ceci. Chat Noir, c’est un chat. Et les chats adorent bondir sur tout. Aujourd'hui, il a bondi sur sa copine. Elle n'aime pas ça. Ou lui. Pauvre chat noir. I can’t explain this. Chat Noir is a cat. And cats love to jump on everything. Today, he jumped on his girlfriend. She doesn’t like that. Or him. Poor Chat Noir.

J'ai essaye la perspective fuyante en mon fanart (pour la pratiquer). Et alors, j'ai dit <<Pourquoi pas un autre point?>> Et maintentain, j'ai la perspective cavaliere. C'était tres difficile. Mauvais choix, Nortya. I tried one point persepective in my fanart (to practice it). And then, I said “How about another point?” And now I have two point perspective. It’s difficult to do. It was pretty hard. Bad choice, Nortya.

Je vais aller à Paris tres tot! J'espère trouver des amis là. Etes vous proxim Paris? If vous etes la, me direz!

Tres mignons! Il est tres charmant, mais elle est trop timide. Je veux qu'ils sont heureux. <3 S’il vous plait? Les cheveux de Adrien est très difficile à dessiner. Et oh non! J'ai oublié ses taches de rousseur! Aimez-vous ce mode de coloration? How sweet! He is so charming, but she is too shy. I want them to be happy. <3 Please? Adrien’s hair is very hard to draw. And oh no! I forgot her freckles! Do you like this style of coloring?

Ma superviseure m’a dit que je devrais passer <<une soiree>> avec un beau gosse quand je serai en France. (Ses mots, pas les miens!) Ma vie n'est pas si passionnante. Mais une rendez-vous avec un beau gosse sympa serait bonne. Peut-etre! Je suis trop timide aussi!

Je vois toujours des problèmes, mais c'est fini. J'apprends à dessiner ces deux touchants. Très gentils! (Et tres dificile! Chacun se desplace avec l'autre.). I still see some problems, but it is finished. I’m learning how to draw these two touching. They're so sweet! (And this was so difficult! Each one moves the other!) 

Oh! Je n'ai pas assez d'ideès pour plus de dessins. Si vous avez des ideès, s'il vous plait, envoyez-les moi! Specialement si ces ont une sentiment forte. Il me faut pratiquer dessiner les visages. (Je ne sais pas dire "facial expressions" en francais. Pardon moi.)  Je ne peux pas promettre que je vais dessiner touts vos idees. Oh! I don’t have enough ideas for more drawings. If you have some, please send them to me! Especially if they have strong facial expressions. I need to practice them. I can’t promise that I’ll draw all of your ideas.

Peut-être, c'est aussi pour moi, personnellement. Mes amis me manquent. Je veux parler avec des personnes.

Ce n'est pas parfait, mais je l'aime bien. Et je dois finir des dessins. It’s not perfect, but I like it well enough. And I must finish drawings.

Terms of Use for My Art

So I don’t think anyone cares yet, but I just thought I’d throw this together very quickly. I recommend you skip over this post on your dash as it’s quite boring.

These are my general terms of use for my art, but keep in mind that commissions may have different usage rights, so please keep that in mind.

All original art may not be used or reposted without explicit permission. Most will be going in a portfolio and I need to manage it. Please contact me if you need to use it to discuss terms and possible compensation.

Fanart (which is what most people care about):

I do not own the characters I use in fanart, so please respect the wishes of the original creator. You may add to fanart for creative purposes (dubbing, music videos, coloring, icons, etc.) so long as my name/link is still there. If you are monetizating something that is substantially based on my content, please contact me to discuss further arrangements, even if for charity. (If we’re talking less than 10 seconds in a music video, go ahead.)

Reposting with a link and credit to me is allowed on platforms where it has not been posted yet (e.g. It has been posted on tumblr, so please reblog instead, but if you want to post it on a forum, go ahead!) When in doubt, please ask.

I am available to do commissions until further notice and these will come with extended rights.

Oh man, time for my eclipse story.

So... my family decided to travel to be in the totality of the eclipse and we ended up way further way from home than was ideal. But it didn’t matter. Driving for 10 hours each way isn’t that different than driving for 8. It was a bit crazy when we got back, just because I had a student right when I got back (I didn’t even get to go inside), but that worked out fine.

So we check into our hotel which is right on the totality midline, yay! Next morning, we’re eating breakfast and it is cloudy. Like, really cloudy. And there are more clouds coming in. Therefore, we make the decision that we’re going to move for better viewing.

So we get in the car and end up trekking about halfway across the state to find better weather. As we’re driving it is pouring rain. I mean just dark, storming, god-is-not-pleased-with-you storming. And I am just cursing myself because it was my idea to drive out of the town we were staying in.

Well, just about 20 minutes before the totality we finally find a place with sunny skies and we made it! It was a beautiful little office landscape and we got to watch the totality. It was really incredible. It actually looked like full twilight and we heard the bugs switch to their evening calls. And it was so much cooler during the eclipse than after!

Unfortunately, my photo of the totality doesn’t look like anything, but it was really something to experience! (Also, although our totality was shorter than our original town, we got to see it, whereas the clouds never cleared there.)

So, very cool. Ready to do it again, but not for another seven years!

Solar Eclipse

Just as an FYI, I’m going to be posting on a weird posting schedule this weekend. I’ll be going out of town for the eclipse (zone of totality!) I’ll also be out of town next week for a wedding.

I have no idea whether that will be more art or less. On the one hand, long car trips... on the other hand... who knows what my schedule and internet access will be...

I’m a little late, but for National Bat Cat Day, I’m drawing Chat Noir’s favorite lady. I’ll probably be drawing the cat himself before too long, but I want to get this one finished first. Still needs some work, but I had to post something for black cat day!

I don’t know if the (few) people following me like traditional animation, but god there are some gorgeous drawings in here!

Often times, with good animation, the finished product is so clean, you lose how much work and artistry went into it.

Look at the red drawings of the ostriches, the blue weasel, or the black squiggly Roger Rabbit for some amazing gestures.

PS - Was working on a drawing the other day, but the gesture wasn’t right. Hope to finish it tomorrow.

Costume Embarrassment

So... yesterday I was telling a student about how I tried sewing a superhero catsuit this weekend for practice sewing. Don’t ask to see it. It was just for practice sewing and is made out of an old sheet.

So apparently I had mentioned Miraculous Ladybug to her and she guessed that it was her!

I have been found out as Miraculous trash.

Luckily she didn’t notice that I was wearing my Ladybug earrings.

So, I’m a little in love with Ladybug.

I didn’t want to like it, it’s just too cute!

I need more practice drawing on the screen still (that’s why Chat Noir is so much better than Ladybug: I drew him second). This is just a copy of a screenshot from the show! Hopefully I’ll have something original before long.

So I’m planning on getting together a Ladybug costume for Halloween.

One problem... I’m terrible at sewing. Anyone have any good pattern recommendations or is this as good as any?

THE Drawing!

Oh my god! I think I finally completed the drawing of my wolf for my portfolio!

What do I mean by that? Well, I had been fiddling around, trying to get everything to line up nicely for a few weeks on my character design (proportions, shapes, details, etc.) and I think for the first time I really got everything right! This means I can take this drawing and use it as a model for other drawings! (And figure out what I’m doing wrong in others!)

Now time for a breakdown and turnaround (this is a breakdown for those not in the know, I think a turnaround is self-explanatory)

My apologies for not showing it here. It’s my own design and I really don’t want copies going around. Of course, I don’t think anyone would copy me, but better to keep it under lock and key, just to be sure. (Friends, feel free to message me, but I’m just not making it public.)

Recently I’ve been working on a character design for a wolf and I think I’ve finally learned a little about using small, medium, and large shapes in my design. Unfortunately, I won’t be posting that here as it’s an original portfolio piece.

That being said, last time I was out, I worked on a Chat Noir drawing, so I might post that before too long.

It’s one of those problems where I don’t know what to work on first so I run around frantically and work on nothing.

Chores Drawing over Disney stills Cleaning Table French Practice Straightening Desk Worrying over Nothing Typing in Parts of my Resume (stupid website!) Lots and Lots of Fretting Over Nothing (More to come!)

And not my portfolio work nor my Chat Noir piece, as per my prediction. I’m still hoping to get some work on them in the next few hours.
