                brunette  tendrils  fall  sloppily  into  her  face  as  spindly  digits  reach  up  to  wipe  the  blood  from  her  nose  ,  something  she  had  grown  all  too  familiar  with  .  indeed  ,  el  knew  all   too   well   what  it  was  like  ,  to  desire  some  semblance  of  normalcy  ,  especially  given  how  the  first  grueling  twelve  years  of  her  life  had  been  .  so  much  tragedy  here  in  hawkins  ,  even  and  one  might  argue  especially  for  the  children   .   small   smile   returned  ,   a  kind  gesture  no  doubt  .    “   .   .   .    she   told  me  no  rush  ,   “    a  beat  ,  brief  silence   .   “  ___   just  worried  ,  “    low  hum  akin  to  laughter  echoes   out   ,   ducking  to  enter  castle  byers  .   she  was  grateful  for  the  invitation  ;  and  in  fact  ,  she  had  not  .  taking  a  seat  across  from  him  ,  she  crosses  her  legs  to  get  comfortable  .   “  you  feel  okay  ?  “   joyce  wasn’t  the  only  one  worried  .  

Always worried, his mother had been. He can’t really blame her, given what had happened, but he needs his space. He needs her to look at him as if he is not about to break…or just grow up like everyone else is doing.  ❝ Welcome! ❞ he tells her with a smile and offers her a can of soda, that isn’t as cold as it was when he brought it here, but he has nothing else. He takes a sip from his own soda, drops of the liquid run to his chin and he wipes them quickly. They haven’t spent time alone before, he realises. Does this mean it’s going to be awkward? Her question gets him out of his thoughts  ❝ Yeah. I’m fine. ❞ Yet he is always in alert for that feeling he gets, the shiver at the back of his neck, when he is close. Yet he feels so alone, his best friends too busy to spend any time with him.  ❝ Do you and Mike have another date soon? ❞

   bright  brown  hues  go  to  the  can  of  soda  ,  hand  reaching  out  to  take  it  from  him  .  nail  finds  tab  ,  opening  it  and  taking  an  almost  just  as  messy  slurp  from  it  .   it’s  taste  was  welcoming  ,  especially  given  the  journey  to  get  back  here  .  “   .  .  .    thank  you  !  “  small  voice  chimes  ,  brimming  with  contentment  .  lips  purse  to  the  side  ,  curious  and  concerned  .   can  is  set  aside  ,   hands  resting  almost  awkwardly  in  her  lap  .   indeed  ,  they  had  never  hung  out  by  themselves  before  but  there’s  always  a  first  time  for  everything  .   gaze  narrows  ,   wondering  if  he’s  being  honest  .   “  ___   you  sure  ?  “  but  the  question  fades  ,  face  erupting  into  a  radiant  ,  cheesy  grin  .   anytime  someone  mentioned  mike  ,  she  could  not  help  but  to  feel  some  sense  of  content .  “  .  .  .  yeah  ,  we’re  gonna  hang  out  tomorrow  night  ,  “   cheeks  flush  pink  ,  unable  to  contain  it .

        she    sits   in  solemn   silence   alone  in  the  byers  living  room  ,   tissue  stubbornly  wiping  trickles  of  blood  from  her  nostril  .  el  had  been  here  a  number  of  times  ,  that  all  too  troubling  precipice  between  wanting  to  utilize  her  powers  to  help  people  and  believing  that  no  matter  what  ,  she  would  always  be  a  monster  .  teeth  clamp  down  on  bottom lip  as  it  began  to  tremble  ,  a  weighted  darkness lingering  overhead  whilst  fingers  move  to  fold  her  makeshift  blindfold  .   chocolate  hues  glance  up  ,  radiating  sorrow  ,  to  find  nancy  as  she  walks  in  .    “   .   .  .     did  -  did  i  help  ?  “   her  voice  is  as  timid  as  usual  ,  uncertain  .  lashes  blink  ,  searching  for  a  sign  that  she  could  be  redeemed  .     ;    @nancewheelr

          trepidation  assaults  her  every  sense  ,  feet   traipse  through  dense  brush  whilst  valiantly  searching   the  woodlands  .  sharp  inhalation  of  breath  as   she  approaches  castle  byers  .  tongue  darts  out  between  lips  ,  hoping  and  praying  to  find  will   there  .   “    .   .   .    will  ?   hello  ?  “  voice  cries  out  ,  uncertain  and  all  too  foreign  to  her  ,  even  still  .   brow  twitches  ,  confusion  merging  with  concern  then  .  deep  breath  outward  as  hand  rises  ,  utilizing  her  power  to  move  the  curtain  back  .  a  trickle  of  blood  falls  from  left  nostril  ,  lingering  there  .   a   sigh  of  relief  follows  ,  seeing  him  sitting  there  .  head  cranes  ever  slightly  to  the  side  .    “   ___   your  mom  is  looking  for  you  .  “     ;   @illfatedpartners  /  will byers . 

Safety. Innocence. Happiness. That’s how Will would have described this place, if you had asked him before the Upside Down. Now…It’s safe, but he is not the kid he had been and as of late, he isn’t particularly happy either. Still, he likes it here. A welcome melancholy. A sweet hope, that things might go back to what they were used to be. But what if it is a fruitless hope? The curtain opens and for a split second he is startled. When he sees her, his features relax and he offers her a small smile  ❝ Okay. I’ll be there in a bit. ❞ he pauses  ❝ Would you like to come in? I am not sure you have been in my castle before? ❞ his smile widens slightly as he says this, even though he knows it might be perceived as childish.
