Lucky me! I still have an opportunity to complete this project this winter. I'm aware that it's March already, but a blizzard is raging outside my window, so technically, it's still winter. The temperature is promised to drop to -26°C in a couple of days, so I still have some time, but not much!

a scan of this yak wool bobbin lace i got from portobello market from the anne/phil swift booth that I am in love with. I have never in my life before seen actual lace (not just a lace stitch in knit) made from wool, much less YAK wool. Mind completely blown. Was told that this was typically used in traditional eastern european costumes. So friggin cool. Hope you enjoy the details, if you want the uncompressed scan, I'll email it to you.

It's official, I hate working with this thread, but I will finish this project anyway, because it looks good and I'm finally halfway through it!
Yet again I don't have much free time to make lace, and also I don't feel well lately, but today was such a beautiful winter day (-30°C, everything covered in snow, but it's sunny) that I decided to take this project off the shelf and make a couple of stitches.

I want to post my 100th post on Christmas Eve, and it has to be something beautiful! I needed more thick pins for the Cluny project I'm currently busy working on, so I had to take this unfinished beauty off the shelf anyways. When you take pins off the lace, it does look even more delicate. And it's not even some infamous thinner-than-a-human-hair thread. Well, Merry Christmas, guys! And thanks for all the support and all the lovely, funny, heartfelt, and inspiring things you say in your tags ♥ I really appreciate it!
Obviously, being busy sewing, knitting, taking part in our yearly language advent challenge, and so on, I didn't have any free time to even start my new bobbin lace project. So I'm starting it today! I remember how anxious I was when I was making my first leaf tallies. They were ugly! But practice makes perfect (or at least pretty), so now I'm no longer ashamed to show my leaf tallies to the world 🤭 Also, I've decided to try making authentic Cluny picots, and it's fun!
I've been busy these past few weeks making things that I can wear this season. I knitted a cuff beanie (or is it called 'a watch cap'?) with yarn I bought the previous autumn. Have already worn it in -20°C, never felt cold! Also, I've almost finished my oversized shacket. I just need to sew the buttons, which, I suppose, were lost in delivery. It's my first attempt at finishing raw edges with Hong Kong finish and making these unusual cuffs. I messed up a little bit with one side of the collar stand, but overall I'm pretty proud of this shacket. And, of course, I love the color! P.S. To be honest, I kind of regret sewing a shacket from this fabric. I'm afraid I won't wear it as often as I could have worn a regular shirt, so maybe I should have sewn the latter, but what's done is done. And done quite nicely, I should (shamelessly) admit.
