One of my goals for the year is to start unfucking my psyche
And as part of it I'm reading children of emotionally immature parents
And boyyyyyy is the book eye opening
I'm just at the part where internalizer children are often put into unsafe travel situations
And do y'all wanna guess what popped into my brain?
Me at 12 flying alone from Italy to Ukraine
I did not speak any Italian
I did not speak any English
It was my first time departing from that airport
It was my first time landing in destination's airport
I did not know the city we were landing in
Honestly I didn't even knew the city we were departing from
I remember my mother talking and presenting me to a random lady that I never seen before and her telling me that the lady was a friend of hers and that I was flying with said lady.
It's entirely possible that the lady was actually a friend of hers that coincidentally was flying at the same time
But it's marginally more possible
That my mother only realized at the airport
That, actually, no airline was gonna let a 12 year old fly by themselves.
And then she was forced to scramble and find somebody willing to pretend to be my travel companion.
Which was really unsafe and bla bla bla
But I'm still here at 29 so imagining her panicking and asking strangers is funny.
