Dealing with your chronic illnesses at night is one of the worst parts

No one is awake to see the struggle and it’s so lonely

The pain is burning my body alive I, a captive- an observer is hoping there's a firefighter near by but there's nothing the phone has long been off the hook because this pain is destroying my hands shock waves down my arms kissing my finger tips jumping around to every part of my body, every part of me consumed but it is left unseen, unheard as I swallow my moans

My cane has been pushed to the back of my closest as bad as my legs are as uneven as they've made the ground as much as each step gnaws at me other's opinions hurt worse because I am, used to be a captive and sometimes I believe the world is burning just as bad as my joints while all the firefighters have been laid off

🌈 happy pride to neurodivergent and mentally ill people who can’t handle being at events with large crowds and loud noises

happy pride to everyone who can’t make it to a pride event no matter why that is! hopefully you can still do something yourself at home, either alone or with some friends. you don’t have to go to a huge pride parade in order to be proud of who you are or to have a good time! 🌈💖

i actually talked about this with a psych professor and she believes that women/young girls have been pushed into responsibility from young ages for so long that its actually triggered an evolutionary effect where young girls are literally developing mentally early in order to cope with the stress.

“Everybody deals with something” isn’t an appropriate response to disability. Having a disability doesn’t preclude us from facing other obstacles in life. We still might grow up poor or in abusive households. We still might face discrimination based on our race or sexuality. We still might have to face any and all of the challenges that abled people face, but with the added limitations of our disabilities. It’s time that this reductive and problematic saying is retired.

I don’t think people really understand what it is like to be given a life sentence of pain, especially when you are so young. To know that every day, happy or not will be punctuated with pain. Every birthday, wedding day, funeral. What it means to know that the one most reliable part of your life will always be pain.

Every single person with a disability is different & capable/ incapable of different things, some disabilities you can work around to do certain things, others you can’t.

It’s just so damned ignorant to put every single person in the same category because “José with one leg can run marathons”.
