A phantom
Creeping along the all-too-familiar path
Night after night
As it always does.
Back and forth
Back and forth
Back and forth
.
.
.
Along this trail,
It had died
But unable to unshackle itself,
Unable to remember,
It paces
Looking for an answer.
.
.
.
Something new appears.
An answer!
..or so it thought.
No more
Pacing,
Pacing,
Pacing,
Now it is
Running,
Dashing,
Chasing!
…But, what is that new thing?
What is it trying so desperately to catch?
A glimmer of hope in the everlasting night
Just as soon fading away as it began to appear.
.
.
And once again,
The spirit will vainly be
Searching for its eternal rest.
Back and forth.
Back and forth.
Back
And
Forth.
