Alexandre Junca was just 13 years old when he became the victim of a gruesome crime that left the population of Pau, Southwest of France, in shock, both because of its violent nature, and because of the upsetting reason behind it.
On June 4th2011, the young boy was riding his bike home to his dadâs after a party, when he suddenly disappeared. He was last seen on a surveillance camera at 10:51 pm, just 200 meters away from his house.
The search for Alexandre started the next day but days, then weeks went by with no lead in sight. That was until the discovery, by a homeless man, of a human bone on the edge of the Gave river on June 26th, that was later confirmed to be Alexandreâs femur. The rest of his remains were not to be found before October, and it took two more years for a suspect to be put in custody. In April 2013, MickaĂ«l Baehrel, 27, confessed to killing the boy with a hammer, and gave the names of 3 accomplices.
There were variations and contradictions in the stories, as there always are when several defendants are involved, but here is what seemed to have happened:
Christophe Camy, 26,  was out of the psychiatric hospital where he has been committed for 6 months, with an authorization to attend a birthday, when he crossed path with Alexandre. He stopped the teen to ask him the time, and attempted to steal his mobile phone. This is when MichaĂ«l Baerhel, drunk and upset, struck the resisting boy with a hammer.  Alexandre didnât die right away, and started crying, which only motivated Baerhel to âfinish him offâ. The two men brought Alexandre to Baerhelâs ex partner, Fatima Ennajahh (50) âs place, where they kept him for the night. Thatâs when the next day, the last accomplice, Claude Ducos (76), a man who used to give BaerhelÂŽs money in exchange of sexual favors, joined the plot and helped dismembered the body.
Fatima Ennajah (last picture) was sentenced to 3 years for âcorpse concealmentâ and ânon-reporting of crime.â
Claude Ducos (fourth picture) was also sentenced to 3 years for âcorpse concealment, violation of the integrity of a corpse, destruction of evidence and failure to report a crime.â
Christopher Camy (third picture) was sentenced to 15 years for ârobbery with violence resulting in deathâ and MickaĂ«l Baerhel (second picture) received life imprisonment for the same conviction.
