Working on a design for a figure/Icon of a goddess of death in my current project. Should hopefully see a more professional version of it in the near future!
Oh right I have a Tumblr.
Lot's of changes since last post. Decided to go from running a buisness to just creating comics as a passionate hobby. I canceled all the comics I was working on with art teams to focus on drawing comics myself. So from this point on most art you see on here will be my own.
I will be making a thunbnail and banner tonight hopefully to replace the ones I have now.
My art is not great at the moment but I have been developing dicipline for the last few months by drawing every day and I can definitely see improvements!
Anyways I will probably be posting here and maybe on other sites as well. All depends on how much I stick to social media. Still getting use to using more than just facebook.
I really like tumblr though because I can post long updates and photos.
Look out for lots of picture updates in the near future ^.^
Update
It has been a few weeks since I last updated my Tumblr. I finally moved into the house and have my job at the medical center as a security guard. Its pretty great so far. I have a ton of bills to pay on top of a 1400 medical bill for kidney stones that just came in so thats fun. It will all get taken care of soon though and I can move onto improving my company more.
I still have to send out the Kickstarter rewards. I feel kind of crappy that they have been postponed this long. I was not expecting to rack up 5k in debt right after finishing the kickstarter o.o But come March 1st I will be able to finally finish out the rewards and get those sent out. Unless something else decides to bite me in the butt. *nervous eye twitching*
So far I have updated Requiem and The C.A.N Club each week without trouble and updated Facebook at least once a week which makes me happy. I have been wanting to create an easy schecdule that I can turn into a habit and now that its been 2 months I want to start adding a little more to my plate. I am thinking of getting my email list back up and running so I can send out more personal updates to people who are interested in the series as well as bonus stuff ocassionally.
I have also dived head first into drawing again this year and am progressing faster than I expected which is great. I have a lot to learn but I believe that with the right help and percerverance I will be able to start drawing my own basic comics by the end of the year. I have been posting updates of my art on facebook but I will probably post them here as well. I was thinking of reviving my DA but it seems so crowded and slow lately that I am not sure if it would be worth it.
I have also been looking at potentially getting in writers groups and doing short stories for practice but I am not sure where to go for that. I was thinking about Fanfiction.net but I am not really a fan fiction writer. I am also hoping to join art circles so I can draw with other artists and get some feedback.
So far aside from the debt that just seems to keep growing I have actually been very happy with where 2018 has taken me. I feel more confident in my ability to keep going and I am excited that everyone has been so supportive of “Requiems” Revival and the release of “The C.A.N Club.”
Thanks for sticking with me though this learning process and for those of you who are new to my stuff, I am glad that my content excites you. I cannot wait to release more stuff and continue growing along side all of you ^.^
Recognition
Today I was watching a series I liked in the past. Higurashi no naku koro ni kai, I wanted to watch a mystery horror type series and when I finished it I realized that the villians motives stemmed from Recognition. The more I thought about it the more I realized that recognition is a key factor in a lot of things that people do. I am going to keep thinking about this tonight and see where it leads me, I realize a lot of what I like and do all revolve around this concept so I will see how i can use it to make my stories intersting.
Things change so quickly sometimes
Man it is surprising how quickly things change. I know I go from having no debt to accumulating about 3k debt in a month. I am lucky to have an amazing support system of family and friends to help make the debt not an imediate problem.
My fiance and I always talk about how we have a saftey net for serious issues and how with that it makes our lives so much easier. But at the same time its not something that can be taken advantage of.
We are planning on moving into a really nice 4 bedroom house with my dad my brother and my god father. So five people. The plan is to save up a lot of money this way for future endevors.
It's kind of a sudden change because there is a time limit before we cant do this and its stressing us out a bit but we know once we look over the options and make a game plan it will be a lot easier to manage.
It does scare me because I had a game plan for 2018 in terms of releasing content every week. I had it planned based off certain factors that had not changed at all in 2017 and all of a sudden 2018 rolls around and litterally all of the constants have changed making all my planing almost obsolete.
I want to stick to a schedule of releasing a page every week to focus on building my habit as a creator. I have about 6 pages for each series on the back burner in case something like this happened but man its scary that it all happened in the first 2 weeks of 2018. I was expecting some struggle towards the middle or end of 2018.
House of imagi and Ray. The artists for my two series are super helpful and understanding and I know they will create pages ahead of payment in these situations. But I hate doing that because I know the importaince of paying for art on time. I have done this method with both creators before and always paid, usually the check or two after it was given to me but it still feels wrong to me.
If it comes down to it thought I will do it but only for a small amount of pages just to make sure weekly pages are updated.
All in all things changed quickly but I have an amazing support system so the blow was lessened quite a bit. I love everyone that is in my life right now and I can't wait to pay them back in full once my world becomes stable again.
Also I like these blogs they really help me with talking like I normally do. I always felt so stuffy at first because of this imaginary idea of super professional talking.
Kidney stones! Ouch
Wow never have I felt a pain so great. Yesterday my side was hurting a little and at first I thought it was gas cramps so I ignored it but then I went to wake my fiance up because I love giving her kisses and I constantly need attention lol. And all of a sudden the pain started getting exponentially worse until I was withering in pain. She knew it was something bad so she took me to the ER and it just kept getting worse.
When we got there I was barely able to focus on anything my Hands and feet went numb from hyperventilating and I just kept repeating. Help me, I'm trying and I love you. I honestly thought I was going to die so I kept telling Lizzy that I loved her in between screams.
It took them an hour to get a room opened for me and another 3 hours before they could get me some morphine. The morphine made it a little better but they had to keep giving it to me because the pain would come back within about 10-15 mins. After many doses of morphing I was able to lie still and get the catscan. They feared my apendix had burst but all of us were relieved to find it was just 2 kidney stones. They had me get a urine sample and I guess during that the first one passed. They told me there was a second one that would be passing in the next few days and gave me some Hydrocodon to ease the pain.
The doctors and nurses were super nice and apologized for the long wait. I apparently came in at a time when it was very busy. I thanked them for the help and understood it was busy. I was mainly relieved that the pain was gone.
The thing that struck me odd though was that my writer brain kicked in during that entire ordeal. I was barely able to speak and all I could do was moan and babble. But I kept telling myself. "Don't forget this feeling because it will be very useful as a recalled experiance." I do not get hurt often and do not experiance pain very often so my mind was like yea it hurts but the human body can experiance way more pain than this and survive so keep that in mind.
Anyways I figured I would tell this story for my blog and also as a way to keep it written down in case I need to go back and read things I may forget about the experiance.
Back on Tumblr hopefully for good.
Decided to get back into tumblr. I was thinking of doing a sort of blog where I talk about what I am currently studying and my thought process as I study it. Currently I have been facinated with philosophy this last month and am really just taking in as much as I can. It's helped me really think about myself and the world around me and what I should be doing.
Since its the begining of 2018 I am finally able to put my plan into action that I have been working on for the last few months which will have me on a set schedule for releasing pages for my two series as well as working on studying all sorts of things in the pursuit of becoming a creator I can be proud of.
Going to post on here as often as I can and hopefully help new creators and fans see what I do on a daily or weekly basis.
Interview with Ricky Lima about their Kickstarter
Hey everyone decided to do a quick interview with a Kickstarter that finished recently. The creators name is Ricky Lima and he created a series by the name of "Happily ever after" I thought it looked interesting and backed it. Not long afterwards it concluded its kickstarter and funded $7676. Congrats for him I am excited to see comics get funded. Gives me hope for my future comics. I asked Ricky if he would be willing to answer a few of my questions and he agreed. I do not do this very often but I was hoping to get some insight on running a kickstarter and boy was I impressed by his response ^.^ here is the mini interview hope it helps some of you out there as well. What did you think when you first decided to run the kickstarter? I was honestly pretty scared to launch. I had worked on the book for about 6 months at that point and I honestly thought no one was going to care. I was worried that the goal was too high for an individual to hit. But I had already put all the work into the book and my own money that I had to launch or else it'd all have been pointless haha. So I said "screw it" and hit the launch button. When we hit 50% on the first day I was like... "Hey! Maybe I can do this!!" Haha turns out a couple of people cared about the book actually haha. So I'm happy about that. How long did it take you to prepare. I started the book in January and we launch on August 23rd. I started working on the actual Kickstarter campaign around May. So I'd say it took about 3 months to prepare the campaign. A lot of the prep work was figuring out exactly what my goal should be and backer rewards. Putting the campaign was easy, that took a couple of days. The logistics of it all was the hard part. During the kickstarter what were you thinking throughout the month. I was ready to be pushing the thing all 30 days haha. But when we hit our goal on day 6 I had to reevaluate. I had a "Now what moment" so I had to think hard on stretch goals that would be awesome but also cost effective. So I was super happy we hit our goal but also brainstorming awesome stretch goals. Also, every new person that backed the campaign I wondered if they'd like the book or not haha. I'd hate to have someone invest their money into the book and have them hate it. That'd suck. At the end of it what did you learn. I think the biggest thing I learned at the end is that people like comics haha. I made the suitor mini-prints to get people interested in getting them all but it turned out no one really cared about that. People we're really excited about the comics though. My previous two works were hot sellers for backers. That was actually a huge surprise and it filled me with a lot of joy. I'd rather sell comics and get them into peoples hands over anything else. What would you change about the whole thing if you could. I think I would perhaps explain what the suitor mini-prints were better. I feel like they kind of got lost in the whole thing. I think I'd also create a better marketing strategy. My marketing consisted of "Hey, read this" and then throwing the link at people on social media. I know I could have done a better job at reaching out to media. Any advice or comments for other people starting their own kickstarter. Be as open as possible and engage your audience. People are backing you because they believe in you so don't treat them like crap and don't, for the love of god, ignore them!!! These people are literally funding your dream so be nice. Also if you're making a comic try and get as much of it done as possible before launching. People want to see the sequential work before they back it. If you can show some pages then people will understand what's up and are more likely to back it. If you are interested in seeing more of Rickys stuff you can find it at these two places! Daily Page Count
I was listening to a great podcast called ComixLaunch and one of the things on there that help with daily tasks that I liked was writting down the page count I complete daily vs In all. It helps with motivating myself to keep writting and to keep track. So starting today the total pages I have written for Requiem is 55 pages. Every 3 pages equals a chapter in graphic novel format. Right now I have 19 chapters written for the series. I am probably going to use twitter and facebook for this daily task.
A collection of creepy stories written and drawn by Shawn Coss
This looks like such a good book. Shawn Cross is creating a collection of short stories based off of nightmares he had about losing his newly born daughter. It looks beautiful and the idea behind it is something that I admire I constantly find myself writing my dreams down just in case an idea sticks from one of them so to see a creator using his dreams and turning them into a book is awesome! He is really close to his goal so go check him out and help him get that final bit!
Looks like we got the three kickstarter buttons made as well ^.^ working on headshots and getting ch 3 finished before releasing everything ^.^
Sorry had to change it forgot that one of those buggers isnt released yet o.o here are two of the three kickstarter stickers that will be released in a few weeks!
Music to get me motivated for Ch 4
I know exactly how I want ch 4 to look in my head. Now I just need to take the key images and put them on paper. Ugh it is hard cause there is so much going on that I don't know what should go first in the begining. Right now I am listening to My Hero Acadamia- you say run Re:Zero- Theater D A bunch of swing music Random dubbed singers All in hopes to better visualize the chapter. So far its going good. Lots of things are organizing themselves. Probably going to get the begining storyboarded tonight ^.^
The teaser is in color now going to be updating it. I really like this one specifically. The water looks so cool ^.^

This is something that would help me so much!
Storyboards are hard
Oh man working on storyboards are way more difficult than I originally anticipated. I love writing out the chapters. But I have no artistic skill. My fiance has been helping me with the storyboards and then House of Imagi does the completed versions. I have tried doing storyboards before but stick figures and front view faces are not the best way to show what I wanted to do. I eventually decided to go the route of just doing a few picture nd then writing out what happens in each panel. That did not help much since it was pretty much doing what I was doing but in a different format.
Finally I had a friend sit down and show me how to do proper storyboards and the proper camera angles and some ways to do figures better. Thinking about how to do things and why to do them that way. such as what an upward shot means or why a slanted panel is slanted. Page layout and composition. Now I am going to him for weekly sessions to show him what ive done and get more tips.
I am proud to say that even though my art is terrible I am learning finally what I need to do and eventually I will even be able to storyboard stuff all on my own and make it intersting while getting my point across. I do not believe I will ever get to the point where I can draw my own series but I hope that I will get to the point where i can show an artist what I envision and they will be able to create it for me.
Until then its weekly lessions and practice at work to improve my skills ^.^
