DIY Floral Clutch - 5 minute project
We saw these at a recent farmers market and thought we could make one, so we did. You need a glue gun and faux flower blossoms. We used Hydrangeas on a canvas zipper pouch , but you can up cycle an old pencil case or clutch and use any type of flower It was so easy, I’m thinking about doing a boat tote next. We added a pearl handle, but that’s totally optional We got our supplies at Michael’s…
Skippy Squeeze
In our house Peanut Butter is a high value reward as well as entertainment and a distraction for our dogs. We also use it to camouflage pills. Our dogs will do anything for peanut butter Open a jar of peanut butter and the dogs appear by your side from all over the homestead. We usually just hand over the spoon. We’ve tried filling lick mats and Kong Toys with it, but here’s the thing…. It’s…
Whimsy Jars
Here’s on of those things we’ve been doing for years, without realizing it was a thing. We have jars of buttons, shells, seaglass and costume jewelry, orphaned earrings , marbles, foreign coins and more. You get the drift. We display them on bookshelves and window sills. Just for fun. It’s an easy up cycle project for all ages. Just start collecting your bits and bobs or whatever your heart…

Astoria the Turkey
Astoria near NYU I have fallen in love with a wild turkey from Roosevelt island. Thanks to Manhattan Bird Alert, I’ve been able to follow her adventures for the last week as she navigates my childhood stomping grounds…. She flew across the river to Sutton Place before moving to Park Avenue and then Central Park. Here is a story from The New York Times about her Story about her arrival on…
Sumo Citrus Season
I just tried these for the first time and there is no going back. A new addition to our favorites list. Sumo Citrus is a hybrid of navel oranges, pomelos and mandarins that was developed in Japan in the 1970s. Grown in California, Whole Foods started carrying them in 2011 and now they are available at most grocers throughout the U.S. from January through April. It tastes like an extra sweet…
Happy Pi Day 3.14
Pi (π) is a mathematical constant representing the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. This ratio is constant for all circles, regardless of size, and is approximately equal to 3.14159. Pi is an irrational number, meaning it cannot be expressed exactly as a ratio of two integers, and its decimal representation never ends nor repeats. It is also a transcendental number, indicating…
