            henry sneaks out of the building and into the rain water, in order to grab some resources from the supermarket. they feel something brush past his leg, flinching at the feeling. they’re trudging through the water when they hear someone call something, abruptly looking over to where the sound came from. calling out themself, they ask, “did you say something??”

Lance had already decided that he didn’t like sitting around and waiting. He could do this, wade into the water and get out without getting drowned by whatever it was that lived underneath. He’d been pretty successful without anything happening. He stopped for a moment when he hears the voice of someone else and he shakes his head. “No, did you hear something ??”

Lance stared at him, a bit in shock and a bit confused. “Grow antlers ?? Are you some kind of alien ??”

To say that Lance was excited for this whole thing would be an understatement. There was no clock in space, so he had no idea how long he had been gone or what he missed. He’s just happy that he got back in time to celebrate Halloween.

His family enjoyed the holiday, he would help decorate the years before he was off to the Garrison and he could remember taking his younger siblings and cousins out trick or treating whenever he could. So this was a nice change, it was almost like normal. Almost.

The only thing that really threw him off were the creepy vibes he got from the river to his back. He was probably just being paranoid now since lots of things tended to give him odd vibes. Space and fighting aliens really changes a person, but he ignores it.

He, for the most part, was enjoying this. It was nice to get back into his sort of normal groove like he had at home, or when he’d celebrate Halloween at the Garrison with friends, mainly by sneaking out and going to the town a few miles away from them. It was fun, and he missed it. He missed his friends.

Lance was setting up, like he was instructed to do, when he had first heard the soft and faint singing coming off from behind him. He fidgeted a bit, deciding to ignore it first, in hopes that it would go away. But it didn’t. It still pestered and pulled at him like an annoying little brother or sister would when they wanted to play.

He ran his hands along his jeans before heaving a sigh and turning to go investigate, because god damn it he was curious as to what it was and if it was an attractive girl who had wondered off he wasn’t going to pass up the chance to flirt up a storm.

He wandered over to the bank of the river, leaning over the water just a bit to try and get a better look around. He didn’t see anything. His eyebrows furrowed, confusion setting in and his curiosity only nagging at him more to find out what it was, yet he had no idea how. So he decided to just listen for a bit, and try to find out where it was coming from.
