@notteddyswims: Reminds me of Romeo + Juliet!
Ah. There it was, that telltale blush. Valentina pulled at her lower lip, teeth sinking into the plush, pillowy flesh as she ogled him unapologetically. Teddy was impossibly handsome, and it was a wonder he wasn’t more confident. He had an athlete’s physique from all his years of swimming, and she was positive that feeling the full weight of him pressed against her would cure her of every ailment she’d ever endured. The mere thought of it sent a rush of heat between her thighs. She said nothing, though, merely offering a final wink as he told her to behave, laughing fondly to herself as he disappeared into his bedroom to change.
While she waited, she busied herself rummaging through his DVD shelf, pulling through the first of their mini marathon. They mostly consisted of Teddy’s collection, littered here and there with a few strays that she could only assume belonged to Grace, including the odd Irish film that she could only assume was inherited from that rather rugged ex-husband of hers. Dropping back down onto the sofa, she laughed as Dory nuzzled closer to her, pretty dress be damned. Teddy’s sweet dog didn’t give a single hoot about preserving Valentina’s outfit, much like Henry’s gorgeous and utterly ridiculous cat didn’t either. They were a match made in Heaven. She happily occupied the pup in her lap, and long gone were the days where she’d turn her nose up or squirm as Dory tried to lick or nuzzle against her.
By the time Teddy resurfaced, Val’s heart all but leapt out of her chest at the sight of him. It was nothing strange or new to her, her best friend looking deliciously soft in his comfiest clothes, his rather dorky glasses perched on the end of his nose. She smiled sweet, openly appraising him as she quietly ogled the way his shirt hugged his torso, emphasising the lines of his chiseled form.
“Maybe I am. Maybe I just know you’ve got the hots for our Audrey,” Valentina laughed as she pushed to her feet, happily taking the shirt from him. As he rummaged around, scouring Grace’s wine rack and pulling out glasses, she decided to use the moment to be entirely self-indulgent as she peered surreptitiously at his rather pronounced bottom. “Have I ever told you those glasses are giving Gregory Peck? Circa 1962. Very Atticus Finch chic. Perhaps we’ve both dressed appropriately for our little Roman romp.”
It would be easy enough to disappear into Teddy’s bedroom while he was busy pouring wine, but she didn’t see much point in it. They were both adults, and Valentina wasn’t shy. The list of things she loathed about herself was long and unending, but she could confidently confirm she had a great body, and one she was proud to show off to the world. She liked dresses that hugged her curves, and tiny skirts that allowed a flash of her thigh, or low-cut dresses that were both elegant and revealing at the same time. She was a classy woman, but not a total prude.
Gently, she pulled on the zipper of her dress and let it slowly slide down her torso as it slipped to the ground, fabric pooling at her feet. She stepped out of the dress, now quite content in her underwear, before busying herself by fiddling with the buttons of Teddy’s shirt. She considered slipping her stockings off too, relishing in the thought of rummaging through her friend’s drawers and pulling on a pair of his warmest, thickest socks for maximum comfort. But then she considered how sexy she would look with just his button down and a pair of stockings, entirely his for the taking. They’d already been for dinner tonight, so how could she deny Teddy the perfect dessert with all the best trimmings?
The longer she fidgeted, the sooner she realised she probably should have held back on tossing her dress aside. With a clumsy laugh, she shook her head and called upon her friend, drawing his attention back to her, completely unfazed by her own state of undress.
“Love, would you be a doll? I can’t quite get my nails around these buttons, and my hair will never make it out in one piece if I try and pull the collar clean over my head.”
Teddy screwed his face up, shaking his head even if he knew that Val’s claim was well-meaning. As much as he liked to think that he could exude the same charm and charisma as Gregory Peck, he knew he was as much of a far cry from a leading man as you could get. Besides, he wasn’t sure anyone could rightfully claim to be a Peck lookalike. There was nobody out there who could perfect his signature eyebrow raise. Nobody Teddy had ever come into contact with anyway.
He was busy grabbing the wine glasses and uncorking a bottle of red that he hoped Grace wouldn’t miss too much when he heard Val call on him from across the room, needing his help with something.
“Hm?” he called absently, filling the glasses and letting the glug-glug-glug of a wine pour hit off the side of the tumblers.
When he eventually looked up to see what it was that Val needed help with, the wine sloshed across the rim of the glasses, spilling over the counter and his free hand. He blinked owlishly at Val’s half-naked form, wondering when that had happened. Evidently when Teddy had been fetching them something to drink.
Teddy knew he shouldn’t look. He should avert his eyes, no matter the fact that Val was standing in the middle of his living room clad only in her underwear and stockings. He knew she could easily have slipped into his bedroom to get changed, but had chosen instead to strip down to her socks where he could see, which was a dizzying realisation to have. It made him feel incredibly light-headed and he hadn’t even touched the wine yet.
“Um,” he swallowed. “One second.”
His voice was just on the wrong side of high-pitched, sounding stupidly garbled. He quickly grabbed a dish towel and began drying his hand off before the wine began staining it.
Slowly crossing the room to Val, he did everything he could not to stare at her, and the generous way her bra was pushing her breasts up. If he was an anime character, he knew there would be three pink lines scoring across each cheek right now, dotted with sparkles. He doubted he was being subtle in any other way though, as he supposed he was wearing his very own non-cartoon blush. Had that been why Val had been so eager to be clad in only her bra and panties in front of him? To bring out that signature Teddy Ellwood blush? It was the most innocuous of reasons, and the one that Teddy had to hold onto if he wanted to maintain his grip on sanity.
“I’ve got it,” he mumbled, taking the shirt off of her and lifting it to unbutton it. The only ones fastened were the middle ones, so if he ever hung it up, it wouldn’t slip off the clothing hanger by billowing open. But really, there was a gaping hole in the neck of it that could easily be tugged over Val’s head without it disturbing her hair too much. Again, this must have been another part of her ploy to get him to turn beetroot.
“Here you go,” he offered her, holding it open for her to slip her arms into, all the while respectfully casting his eyes skyward.
