STARSCREAM.
« 🎻 » || “Don’t flatter yourself, Cyclonus, I just don’t want good welding going to waste. That takes supplies, you know.” Starscream rattled his wings in response to Cyclonus’s snarl, glaring, but there was no actual malice behind it. He huffed.
Unable to help himself, though, he pressed into the touch, expression quickly melting to one of gentleness and warmth. His optics shuttered, and his turbines gave a soft, gentle purr. Starscream placed a servo over Cyclonus’s and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“It really doesn’t.” Starscream licked his lip plates, hesitating, before mumuring, “I’ve missed you, you idiot.”
“YOU ARE AFRAID OF INSULTING THE MEDIC, is that it, then?” A smile teased his lips, but one that didn’t quite break the surface. Instead, he simply reached, one hand meeting the other’s in a gentle grip. “You and him do seem quite close.”
It was something he had tried to ignore, but was right in front of his face. The way Starscream’s optics softened around the CMO, the quiet murmurs between them-- there was something there; Cyclonus just couldn’t put his finger on it yet.
“And I you, my Prince.”
STARSCREAM.
« 🎻 » || “Hey!” Starscream reached over, gently smacking at the servo on Cyclonus’s weld. His plating puffed and his wings rattled as he fixed Cyclonus with a glare. “Be careful, you imbecile. Do you want to make your wounds worse?”
But slowly, he relaxed again, sharp features softening. He sighed, wings lowering. “Stop, don’t… don’t blame yourself. You didn’t know. You didn’t know you were going to disappear, or what Megatron planned to do…
“…Primus, none of us knew what Megatron was planning.”
HIS LIPS PULLED BACK INTO A SNARL, but it was little more than a half-sparked complaint. Cyclonus let his hand fall away, ignoring the blue that dotted the tip of his claws. “Careful, Starscream, or passersby might actually think you care if my wounds worsen or improve, and we simply cannot have that.”
Despite his words, there was a half-smile on the warrior’s face. His other hand lifted, fingers cupping the other’s face with a tenderness so rarely observed in wartime. The pad of his thumb traced Starscream’s optic ridge.
“Perhaps not. And perhaps there is no use in trying to repair what is irreparable. Still, that does not stop the mind from wandering.”
He looks sexy
Being brave isn’t glorifying. Being brave is messy. Being brave is walking forward when you thought you couldn’t even stand. Being brave is doing the right thing no matter the consequences. Being brave is being selfless.
Did you know that doing the right thing can feel like doing the wrong thing? ( c.d. )
STARSCREAM.
« 🎻 » || Starscream leaned into Cyclonus’s touch, optics shuttering closed and a shiver going through him from the contact. He reached up, digits lightly touching his betrothed’s wrist – encouraging. He liked this sort of gentleness coming from someone so serious.
“Were you so far gone that you didn’t realize how long it had been?” he murmured, genuine confusion coloring his optics. “I… yes. Nearly five million, now. Cybertron is…” His vocalizer caught.
“…did they tell you? About Cybertron?”
OH, HOW HE WISHED THEY HADN’T! Cyclonus had been lost for several million years, lost to the will and spark of one who had only sought to use him. He believed himself out to protect Cybertron; it was his duty, as one of its Princes, and one he held in high regard. He would have died for Cybertron, but now it seemed as though his home had gone dark without him.
“Your Prime told me enough,” rumbled the mech. He clenched his fist, talons digging into the wound in his side. Not quite enough to open the welding, but enough; almost enough to distract him from the loss. “I am sorry I was not there to defend it. Had I known...”
“Had I known what was to transpire, I never would have left it, or you.”
i lie AWAKE at night with these MEMORIES of feeling POWERLESS and they’re HAUNTING me
STARSCREAM.
« 🎻 » || Starscream nodded. Something in Cyclonus’s tone told him not to press, so he didn’t – despite the curiosity burning a hole in his processor. Cyclonus had been his betrothed, once upon a time, and part of Starscream had always wondered if his squadron’s disappearance was something Megatron had orchestrated, though the rest of him knew that was unfounded paranoia. To finally have answers would be, well… almost cathartic.
But he didn’t press.
“Shortly,” Starscream agreed, though he didn’t take the invitation to actually do so right at that moment. Instead, he moved towards the medical berth, gingerly sitting on the very corner so as not to disturb Cyclonus. He never took his optics away – he half worried if he did, the other Seeker would disappear again.
“It’s… a very long and arduous story. You’ve missed quite a bit.”
“ONE I HOPE YOU WILL INDULGE ME WITH, EVENTUALLY.”
Cyclonus shifted his weight, to allow his fellow Prince the space needed to join him. One servo lifted, to trace the facial angles so familiar to him. In another life, perhaps things would have been different; in another life, perhaps they could have lived and loved, as their creators had wanted for them. But in happiness’ stead, Primus had dealt them a far crueler hand; one they would take in stride.
“According to your Prime and medic, my disappearance was over four million years ago. It would explain why we are not--”
Home. It almost slipped from his glossa, betraying the emotions he fought to hold back. This planet, while beautiful in its own way, was not the land he remembered. It was not the world he fought so hard for. Standing upon its very soil made him sick, in a way he could not yet describe.
“--on Cybertron.”
I’d say you stole my heart, but it’s always been yours.
STARSCREAM.
« 🎻 » || “Truth be told, Cyclonus, I didn’t expect to see you again at all, not after your commander’s little disappearing act.” Starscream rested his chin on his hand, hips cocked, regarding his long-lost cousin with curious optics. “Much less in what could nominally be called one piece.”
His wings fanned, just-so. “But you’ve always been more resilient than anyone takes you for, haven’t you?”
“WHAT HAPPENED WAS UNFORTUNATE.” And something he did not care to think about; not since he had only just escaped. Galvatron was a subject his processor was still processing, his spark still healing. It was better to ignore it for now. “But I am recovering now, thanks to your medic. None worse for wear, I assure you.
“I suspect you will bring me up to date on your own adventures shortly.”
an ot6 to consider: whirl/cyclonus/tailgate/swerve/rewind/chromedome
some notes:
they’re not all together together it’s more like a group of poly relationships
whirl, cyclonus, and tailgate are a triad
cyclonus, tailgate, swerve, and rewind are a quad
rewind and chromedome, obviously, are a couple
cyclonus and tailgate are also their own couple
i will literally never find fic of this
