For the ask memes number 4 and 7!! (If it's not too late :3 )
Are there any specific plots that you would like to play with them?
I’m currently interested in a role-reversal, where someone else is Kira, and Light takes their “place”, respectively. I think it would be fun :^) I think once I finish the Live Action I’d be interested in roleplaying that, too.
If your character did not have the role they did now, what do you think they would be doing?
Here you go! http://notakxller.tumblr.com/post/144018902313/if-your-character-did-not-have-the-role-they-did
I have time on my hands, so I figure I'll just organize characters as I see fit.Fun Fact: Mun is a Slytherin
Gryffindor
Mr.Yagami
While his value for family would lay in Hufflepuff, his bravery would place him in Gryffindor, in my opinion.
Matsuda
People might say Matsuda belongs in Hufflepuff, but I see Puffs used as synonyms for "weak" characters. Matsuda cares deeply about everyone in the team, and may have been a Puff towards the beginning (based on impression), but Matsuda has certain bravely unlike others (shown in the Yotsuba arc and final arc) and is definitely a Gryffindor.
Hufflepuff
Misa
Her loyalty to Kira places her here.
Matt
Sayu
Mrs.Yagami
Raye
Naomi
Mikami
I was stuck on where to place Mikami at first. I challenged between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, but in the end decided he was best suited here.
Ravenclaw
Near
L
Watari
Slytherin
Light
Namikawa (Perhaps many of the Yotsuba members)
Mello
I'm no Harry Potter fanatic, but I'm familiar with the houses--I still looked up resources from the wikipedia, pottermore and potter-centric tumblr blogs.
If you'd like an explanation on how I came to the conclusion, feel free to ask. Feel free to ask for analysis of particular characters, too. There are likely more Slytherins in the series, for example.
Before I went to sleep, I wanted to address this irony real quick.
The irony of Mr.Yagami laying in the hospital bed, talking about how it’s better to hear the truth than a lie that would comfort him. Then, skip forward to Mr.Yagami’s last moments, looking up at his son while laying in a hospital bed, and seeing the lie; but believing it to be a comforting truth in his last moments.
“You’re not Kira. I’m… truly happy.” You know, I half-wish that Light had possession of a note during that time, just so his father could die knowing the truth (but not in a justice sort of way, more of..angst).
Currently interested in roleplaying a role-reversal, where I (Light) am a Kira-follower, and your character is Kira. Any character is fine, but I’m especially interested in RP’ing this scenario with either Misa, Mikami, or Takada.
This is sort of the continuation of my last year’s post about Mikami’s absence of voice alteration towards the end of episode 35 in the anime and apparently, it is not an anime-specific “plot hole.”
The first picture takes place when Mikami (as Kira) demands Takada to tell him where did she get the idea to express her opinions about Kira on live television. His phone has a tiny box that alters his voice, which is important to hide his identity from Takada. After having contact with Light, the real Kira, this has been pretty consistent.
The second time Mikami and Takada share communication, the voice changer is still intact. Mikami is referred as “T,” an alias that hides his identity as Teru Mikami, which Light is aware of, but Takada isn’t. Light gave Takada instructions to not even try figuring out who “T” is.
So Takada shouldn’t know that “T” is Mikami, right?
And yet, when she calls “T” for names of criminals to kill while she is trapped and naked in the truck, two odd things happen. One,
His cell phone is gray, not white like it looked before. It was still pretty white when he was taking pictures on the train.
And second,
There. Is. No. Voice. Changer. On his phone. No matter how close I look at it, I still don’t see it.
Unless I’m missing crucial details on why Takada is calling Mikami directly, how in the world would this have been beneficial? If this is a true flaw in the plot not to show important key points on-screen, then Takada discovered who “T” is, Mikami responds to his phone calls normally, and they all seem okay with that?
I should put it out there that I’m sleep deprived, so if I missed something or there’s something false in my statements, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
I wouldn’t put too much mind into the way phones look. I sadly have lost all images along with my old hard drive, but I once made a folder of all phones in Death Note and let me tell you, a lot of it isn’t consistent. Soichiro goes through around 3 phones over the course of the first Arc.
The white phone has already appeared black before (first image) or shown as missing its camera lens (second image).
So even though from white with camera to dark without camera is a pretty huge change, I am not 100% convinced that this is an intentional deal.
But since the anime explicitly shows that Teru has two different phones, I think it could well be that it’s the same in the manga. I wouldn’t find it unlikely for Mikami to have one private cellphone (white) and one work cellphone (black) - my mom separates phones this way, too, haha.
I’m not sure what I was thinking when the phone-issue came up anime-wise before, because there is an explanation that is so much simpler than “Takada knows Mikami is X-Kira.” Call forwarding.
Mikami very obviously can’t keep a phone with voice changer on him when he’s out in public - normal people don’t alter their voices in phone conversations, after all. And we do know he does take it off because the white / private / Kira phone is shown without it during the train scene.
So yeah, no voice-changer so he can appear as a normal human.
I assume that normally Kira just wouldn’t pick up the phone if Takada called during hours where Mikami wasn’t able to have his voice altered on the phone, but the situation in which he does pick up here isn’t ordinary.
Whether or not he normally forwards calls from his hypothetical Kira-phone to his work-phone or not, he definitely has reasons to do so in this situation.
As we know, Mikami’s been following her kidnapping case on the news and he does think that, Light being watched, he is the only person able to do anything to rectify this situation. It’s no wonder he’d take the gamble of picking up when Takada calls, even though it would reveal his voice. Considering he attempts to kill Takada right after, it’s not like he planned on her living to tell the tale.
I kind of doubt Takada actually put two and two together though, being pretty panicked and with Mikami only saying very few words on the phone, hmh.
… so if I’m not missing anything, that’s case solved to me personally? Hmh.
“He always has to win. He can’t stand losing” is fine, but I slightly prefer “稀に見る負けず嫌いだ” i.e. “[He] extraordinarily hates to lose” because I like “稀に見る(rare/extraordinary)” being used to describe how much Kira hates losing.
The original has better humour (probably only to me).
I doubt “liars and cheaters” are the only “people with minor wrongdoing(罪の軽い物)”? But it probably sounds more natural in speech.
“先進各国(developed countries / advanced nations)” is translated into G8 nations and it is not the first time, but isn’t “G8” a lot more restrictive? Is there something wrong with saying “developed countries” and “advanced nations” that I’m unaware of? Otherwise it just seems to be a weird fixation to translate all “developed country / advanced nation” into G8…
I said I’d be posting more than just roleplays here, too. This is sorta my death note-centric blog.
This is likely something every Death Note fan has asked themselves.
Eh, please don't read this if you're going to bombard me with hatemail.
Short answer: In the fictional world, sorta. In real life, you bet I would be.
As a sociology major especially, I know crime is inevitable. Actually, one of my assignments was to evaluate an article that stated that.
It was right, if you eliminate "big crime", and nobody then does "big crime", then what was once "small crime" becomes "big crime". To put the three page article in a short sentence.
Now,
What does this have to do with whether or not I support Kira?
If Kira were real today, what would I be doing?
I support Kira. Well, hypothetically, until he started to kill people who weren't initially the target (see, below). Granted, he did recklessly kill who he thought was L before, but that was still in the beginnings, before he really had his plan set out.
You could say that was foreshadowing for how much he'd really stick to his plan, but I don't see it as that big of a problem. Means to an end, of course.
I, hypothetically, did not support later down when he and the other Kiras would begin to kill people and criminals who shouldn't of been killed. Petty crimes. They're crimes, but they don't mean anything.
Say, this was happening in real life. Would I really look down on that? Maybe, I'm not sure. Then again, I’m a victim of a certain big-crime. That person could be gone. I'm in America, though, and finding that criminal and killing him off is unlikely. (But besides that, let’s pretend, shall we?)
I would want Kira to help me, though, and I would want to help Kira in any way I could. Even if hypothetically I'd be against the idea of killing petty criminals, I think once the heat got to me, I wouldn't mind. Until Kira was truly a God, I guess. After he was in control, I think petty killings would be...boring.
If it was happening now, while I'm a college student...I wouldn't be able to abandon my schoolwork, but I would most definitely at least attend a Kira-related show, and I'd love to be part of it. When I could, of course. So, I imagine most of my freetime would be towards his cause.
I'd probably ask Kira to kill him, and if he did it, I'd do anything Kira asked.
*laughs* Imagine me, on a Kira show “I’ll do anything you ask if you show me your power, please kill the one who hurt me, if you do that, then I’m at your disposal!”
Am I that vulnerable? No, not really. I'd love to be part of a new world. Especially a world that I think, for the most part, is right and in my favor. I would love to help pursue it. I would get on my knees and beg to be a part of it if I could.
Eh, maybe not really, but mentally. I wouldn’t want to humiliate myself in front of him.
I understand why people are, and I would understand why they would be, against Kira. I disagree, and it would be shown to them eventually, anyway.
Now...what I would prefer, is if I was Kira. I wouldn't try to steal that from Light, though, since with him being Kira--roles have already been decided. He’s the God, I’m a...disciple? Maybe Light would be able to sense that initial desire to be in his role and disregard, or kill me. I really doubt that, though. If he did then...aw well. Not much I can do if I’m dead! Can’t argue with a dead guy!
If I were Kira...I have no connection to the police, and live in a country much larger than Light. I definitely wouldn’t make the mistake of killing the one who hurt me, since I wouldn’t know for awhile anyway. I’d probably test it on an American political figure. I’m sure you could guess which one. I’d know right away if it worked. Sure, that means L knows I’m in America. But there’s 50 states here. I’d likely accidentally draw him to my state, but would he really be able to figure out who I am? I suppose that’s why it’s fiction, so that it is possible for the “good guys” to win.
Oh man, but if it really existed, now “L” knows where to look. Aha...well, take this as a joke then, would you?
Anyway, this is all taken from me looking objectively at myself and from how I’ve responded to experiences before. I’ve never faced the power of a God, so I can’t really say if I’ll be as cool as I usually am.
I’m more of a leader-type than a follower-type, “more of”, as in, extremely. I am much more of a person suitable to be Kira than to be a Kira-follower. I probably wouldn’t initially trust Kira until he proved himself useful to me, and upon that, then I’ll do what he wants. I don’t throw myself in situations, even if I agree with them, unless I know it’s in my favor in some way.
I guess that’s it. Kudos to you if you read this far. Feel free to disagree with me! I’d love a discussion.
Light held his breath. He could hear his heart beating.
"I assure you, I'm not Kira..." he almost laughed to himself, standing across from the other.
The watch on his wrist felt heavy. A piece of the death note sat inside--but there was one problem. He didn't know the other's name. And they were completely convinced he was Kira. Was this a trap set by L? He couldn't be too sure. The confidence of the other individual is what told him, they know, rather than that they were guessing.
"Who are you, exactly?" he asked, a slight smile tugged at his lips. All he needed was a name. Did they know that?
