AN HONEST OPINION

In this lifetime when you give an honest opinion, people will see you as the villain, they do not open their mind of the possibility of you being the correct. What is more frustrating is they seem to be in control when all is crashing. They are blinded with what they believe is true and fail to see the bigger picture of everything. The fairness and objectivity has been compromised. Once you tell them something they don’t like, that is a lifetime impression of you being the enemy. As for me, as much as possible, I always put myself in the shoe of the other party because what if there is something I didn’t see along the way? So, I set my mind of being the other party. Then I open my mind, open as the wide ocean that I can see everything. I open my mind into the idea of what was something wrong, I self-reflect, I re-evaluate myself and try to understand the other instead of concluding I am right. It just saddened me that relationships crash because of unsettled personal emotions. Let us be neutral as possible and think a thousand times what was gone wrong in us and not with other people alone.

Losing Control

I have been in almost eight hours of trying to feed my mind of what I have heard from a friend. It is so surreal that values have been compromised because of viscous self-interest. Objectivity never gets into play while half of the world needs to be saved.

I am a child of God. I always believed I am. I am a survivor of humiliation, belittling, discrimination, all the helpless things in the world I could say. But I am blessed because of that. I am thankful actually of people who made me feel nothing, because of them I can fly on my own without baggage of their self-insisted gratitude.

But today is a very different day, I am in awe of how people can lie about everything.  For covering a mistake with another mistake. Switching the truths to some lie just for the sake of convenience. For choosing to keep the lies over condemnation.  I just can’t imagine surrendering the simple value of telling the truth in a way of hurting people. I must admit, fooling other is more of fooling yourself.

UNTITLED RAIN THOUGHTS

The feeling of hurting someone. I wish of becoming a numb.  Lost in translation.  Those unguarded tears. Let be it. For now.

Take me to serenity…sweep me…oh, that’s right. Beyond all the dishonesty, allow me to make-up. I’d rather be…Somehow you’ll make love. I’ll let it out beyond compare, next to you is such a stare, benign all the hopes of spirit in me, touch my inner soul to drop. I wish to become as you, part of you, in your world. Let it come, be with you..set me in and up to you…

Today for as long I breathe, I offer you my soul, tap me with your secrets and I’ll be home.

Those memoir keeps me awake. I gasp to the air you sets in crowded by discontentment of my acts. Follow the goodness, I’ll set you free. I will be flying across the shore, with my hand beyond control. Take me…now…take me..to the distance I can never walk through. I am full of it, feeling the limp as I carry the world with inside me. Undress me…with all the sound of goodness. Caress me with the touch of your kindness. Bury me up to the fossils of anyone nothing but happiness.

With the rain bumping each other but never touches, they look tickled as I licked them into my throat. Oh, the sadness I am thirst, bewildered by the freezing tone of their behold. Tie me up with your coolness, allow me to drop you out of my inner worlds, come sink in with my apex turning to hide some tears in the darkness. Hold my thought up high, say to me nothing but alive. Toss me in with my clever knees so so high. I wonder what they have in mind, I wish, I dream, maybe… I could be…with them…to smile.

Can I feel worse than this? I should be going tougher… nina-ninani-nanina-nina-ling-a-ling… But for now, I’ll act my secret insanity weapon (paging Dr. Flynn) so as to exempt me from further devastation.

CIRCLE FOR KEEPS

CHOOSE YOUR CIRCLE. Choosing people to be part of your life is a vital option that some of us might overlook. Little did we know that most of our sufferings are caused by the people around us, thus, the decision of who to accept in our life suddenly becomes a priority. The question now is who deserve to be part of our life? I have some points here that maybe you can consider.

 1. YOUR GO-TO FRIEND. When everyone seems busy with their own stuff. You need to have this "friend" who prioritized you at some instance when you feel that no one is ready to hold your hand. 'Yung tipong ite-text mo ng 'San ka? Labas tayo' and without a second thought will reply you 'Tara! Ligo lang ako'.

 2. THE POSITIVE ONE. Here is a must-must! There are bad hair days that all we need is a tap from a friend and would tell us, "Okay lang yan, ang isipin mo eh 'yung bright side' and will make us see the situation in a whole NEW perspective.

 3. THE HONEST/ARGUMENTATIVE BUDDY. Yes. Not because you're friends doesn't mean she will agree on all the things you have to say. You need someone who will let you feel that not all that you're thinking is correct and not everyday that you are right.

 4. THE NOT JUDGEMENTAL/OBJECTIVE ONE. I must say, I have been this kind of a friend *clears throat*.  I know that everyone of us needs to be understood until we have completed our side of the story. Some people will make their own conclusion based on what they have heard from other people without you being heard. And worst, they have drafted their own judgement passing through one lip to another. But an objective friend will weigh things upon hearing both sides of the story. And will objectively draw verdict from those merits. I must also say that, get rid of people who have already an idea of who you are before you are able to introduce yourself. And here’s the great deal, when you have this kind of buddy, she will never presumed you are guilty when everyone sees you as the villain, instead, she will have this thinking of ‘the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

 5. THE ONE THAT WILL DEFEND YOU IN YOUR ABSENCE.  Let’s admit it, when you are not around, you are the subject of the round table discussion of your click. But here’s the good news- when you have a friend that will defend you in your absence, those chit-chat will turn into all ‘fact-based’ stories. How’s that for a peace of mind?

There are other things to consider when choosing your circle, of course, that would depend on your kind of personality. You can add for an adventurer, happy-go-lucky, techie, etc. if you find yourself with them.  But these five are the basics (atleast for me). Thank you for reading!

The Hollywood Dream

I received a message on my Facebook messenger inviting me for a boating experience at Paoay Lake in my beloved province Ilocos Norte (PHL). I was there five years ago and I cannot contain my laughter knowing that this friend of mine just knew of that water sport activity in there (Like, hello? She is there for the rest of her life) Hahaha! But because friends are expected to be polite (sometimes) with each other, I said I don’t feel like going because I might end up burning myself (Super init that day but the truth ofcourse is I’ve been there. hehe) So, changed plan…

We went to Ermita instead. What was there? The first ever hollywood-inspired LAOAG signage that was being seen when you are in the Gilbert bridge entering the very city of Laoag. Yes! There is actually a replica of it in the city’s cetral park, Aurora, for the sake of photo ops for the tourists, even locals who are very fascinated with the giant markings, but the thing is, we wanted to come up close to the ‘legit’ signage. 

It was located uphill and some meter away from the heart of the city, reason maybe that it was taken for granted by fellow Laoagenos. But, my friend who came from the neighboring town said: “I wanna go! (at magpa-jologs tayo!)” Lol.   

Luckily, we spent the sunset at the top of the hill overlooking the Laoag ground zero. Haaaayyy, if only boys would think like we (girls) think, it could be the most romantic date for the day (not to mention it’s cheap and travel-easy).

Here’s the deal, we  pretended to be tourists (Lol) using our very own Filipino language (Tagalog! Haha) Sakto naman maputi kasama ko, kaya naniwala naman siguro sila, but, our bad when we were asked where are we from, and because I hate lying, I said: Taga ditoy kam met lang, kuya (we are from here, kuya). And we then, we have lived our hollywood dream under LAOAG!

P.S. We were not able to capture photo up the hill. Walang space kaya we need to get down to have the full signage on it. Mas maganda padin sa Gilbert bridge ang view.

It’s a one day ticket to the moon.

Yeah. Holiday was just well-spent for me this time and I didn’t bother spending too much penny and travelling away from my home. It’s technically a neighboring tour up here in Ilocos Norte where museum and hollywood-inspired LAOAG marking up the hill was explored. 

First, I need to say that this day is supposed to be for me sleeping all day but for a dear friend asking your comapny in her special day (yeah, birthday) is just a sin saying NO. So, we had plans, oh no, we didn’t. We just ran-away from the usual city tour in our place.

The photos are basically inside the museum we visited. The first museum featuring Cordillera people, its tribes, their tradition, livelihood, among others, and yes, it is found in #IlocosNorte, the first in the province, that even in the Cordillera Region doesn’t have it.

I am so proud of my province (Ilocos Norte, PHL) for having all these curled up. I am no artist, no painter, sculpture or anything, but I appreciate art. I do.

But maybe next time, just maybe, we can have more of these with libraries on it. Ilocanos need reading nooks, too.
