Sooo, your main team got eliminated from the playoffs and you're wondering who to root for? Allow me to sell you on the Boston Fleet!
Despite being in 1st most of the year, Boston is on a major comeback story. We didn't make it to the playoffs last year, some of our most foundational players were taken in the expansion draft, and we pretty much scrapped our entire coaching staff.
We put all of our rookies on the team, and they've been working to get us playoff ready! Some folks even think our rookies might be in contention for Rookie of the Year (looking at you, Haley Winn)!
We put all of our stats into defense and sometimes score goals! Yes, we are a notoriously low scoring team, and a significant number of our goals are made by defenders. This is mostly thanks to Captain Megan Keller (Ole Angel Eyes herself) and Aerin Frankel.
We have Aerin Frankel. The Green Monstah. Frank's Red Hot. The Ceasare Salad Queen.
Both Keller and Alina Müller (love of my life) scored medal-winning-goals in OT for their respective countries at the Olympics. It'd be sweet for them to get to hoist the Cup after that too.
Their games are incredible to watch, mostly because you never know what the hell they're going to do. Will we completely flop in the last 5 or have a 4-goal comeback in the 3rd? Are we going to have 3x the hits vs sog or are we going to be on the pp every other minute? Are we going to barely score or does everyone want a goal this game? You never know and it's always going to get your blood pumping.
