So I kept misplacing my phone last night and didn’t have the chance to grab a page from my sketchbook for Sketchbook Sunday, so here’s a painting I did in 2015 from an old family photo that I love!
Flowers for Sketchbook Sunday!
Whoops, got this uploaded on Sunday on Instagram, but I forgot to post it here. Here’s a belated #sketchbooksunday post, feat. curly hair practice!
This is Aleks, a character I designed loosely off of an alaskan weeping cedar last semester. Aleks is a healer’s apprentice and basically a tree-loving poet type. He’d definitely be a hipster in a modern AU, lol.Â
This blog has been super inactive this year, but I haven’t stopped making art! I’ve mostly been working in my sketchbook and will be posting weekly updates from that starting Sunday night. Here’s a traditional drawing of Pumpkin Girl, done with acrylic ink in a moleskine watercolor book.
Good lord, I can’t believe it’s been three months since I last posted. School has taken up a lot of my time and I’ve been working on a few projects that can’t be posted yet - but here’s a small after effects animation I did for a class. It makes me want to actually make my youtube into something!
Here’s one of the things I’ve been working on since my last post - beverage packaging design for my illustration class! The top one is the bottle label, and the bottom two are the front and back of the case. This was definitely one of the larger projects I’ve worked on so far and I had lots of challenges and iterations along the way. Overall it was a lot of fun, but I’m glad to be (almost) done and on to the next one.
First project officially finished for art school! In my figure drawing class we were assigned to clothe and arm our model for the zombie apocalypse out of household items. My guy’s got some knee pads, gardening gloves, a thick scarf, and a hat, along with a trash can lid to use as a shield with makeshift duct tape straps for easy carrying. My reasoning is that he’d want to cover as much skin as possible to reduce the chances of being scratched. Looks like he has another hole in his jeans to mend, though. The weapon consists of a fire poker with a knife duct taped to the end. This is definitely different from what I’d normally draw, but it was a fun project.Â
I start my first semester at art school in a couple of days, so here’s a doodle of how I’m fairing the midwestern winter.
Sometimes you just need to go and hug your forest friend.
First art of the year is a study of my cat!Â
Happy New Year! To wrap up 2017, here’s a summary of my art over the year, along with my pattern project over the last month. I’m so excited to see what 2018 brings and I hope that you all have a fantastic, productive year ahead of you!
