I LOVE THIS DUO
Please don't take my family jewels! [GAMMABEAM FIC]
Just realize that... I wrote this resume/synopsis while sleep deprived, and I haven’t changed it, and probably won’t.
Gamma Jack is forced to deceive the press by claiming he's gay, all because he flirted with the wrong woman - one who has a notoriously possessive and volatile boyfriend who's threatening to castrate him if he doesn't go along with the lie.
I hope everyone who saw that notice that is satire...
Gazerbeam's humor/jokes
This is a bit of a silly idea, but canon states that Simon has no sense of humor, while in interviews he claims that he does enjoy humor and likes jokes. Because of that contradiction, I have been thinking about writing a lighthearted one shot where Simon actually does have a sense of humor. Not an obvious or exaggerated one, but a very subtle kind.
In this version, Simon would have a double meaning sense of humor, not because he is particularly interested in anything explicit, but simply because he finds wordplay amusing. It is possible that he watched someone like Lenny Bruce at least once, so his humor could lean toward political commentary or very specific cultural references. Because of this, he tends to hold back and avoids making jokes that could get him into trouble.
Instead, he defaults to telling dad jokes, which he genuinely enjoys. As someone who is Italian or comes from an Italian family, dad jokes also serve another purpose for him, since they help with understanding and practicing English. I say this from personal experience as someone whose first language is not English. Like... you say something that can be answered with a double sense joke and simon is just mentally organizing all the wordplays you could do with that, yet he says nothing.
This is quite literally one of my favorite parts of the fic “Under My Skin” by @basicbutohwell on AO3. If you haven’t read it I highly recommend it!!!
Poorly drawn but I did it to rest after Christmas festivities once the fam left.
Übermensch spoilers!!! part 2
Explaining Lore, Part Two
Lately, I am starting to understand why so many people enjoy writing and sharing their ideas on the internet. There is something genuinely fun and satisfying about slowly building a story, connecting details, and seeing characters take shape over time. Writing this lore has helped me organize my thoughts and understand my own characters better, so this part focuses mainly on Simon, his role in the story, and how his presence affects the larger narrative.
Regarding Simon’s age, he is 29 years old in the fanfic. At first, I planned to write both him and Jackson in their thirties, but later I decided to make them slightly younger. One reason for this is practical, since the story will eventually require a lot of physical and emotional endurance, especially when they begin running from authorities. Youthful energy plays an important role in that. I also used Bob Parr, also known as Mister Incredible, as a loose reference, since he appears to be around 25 in 1947. Simon’s age is important to the plot because he is explicitly described as the youngest person in his firm.
I want to briefly address the age gap discourse in the fandom. I struggled a bit with this because many people seem to agree that Simon is older [which is fair], while others push the idea to unrealistic extremes. To be clear, Jackson is not meant to be twenty, and Simon is not meant to be forty. [I would like to gently clarify something that has come up a few times regarding the age gap between the characters. I truly appreciate the interest and engagement, but this aspect of the story has already been decided and is something I am comfortable with as it is. For that reason, I do not plan to change it, and I kindly ask for understanding on this point.
I also want to mention, with respect, that this story is written with a strong focus on character development, tension, and narrative progression rather than on specific dynamics or roles or at least thats my intention. While those themes are not inherently wrong and can be enjoyable in their own contexts, they are not the main focus of this particular work. Because of that, this story may not be the best fit for readers who are only interested in those elements.
This message is not meant to address all of my readers, as many of you have been thoughtful and supportive. It is simply a response to a few comments I have seen that suggested the story did not make sense or should be written in a different way. I welcome discussion and differing interpretations, but I also hope the story can be read and engaged with as it is intended. Thank you very much for taking the time to read and for your understanding.] ANYWAYS
I apologize for the frustration, but I needed to establish something that made sense both narratively and historically.
Simon’s work dynamic is deeply tied to his past. As a small spoiler of his backstory, Simon has always known that he has powers. However, an incident early in his life made him feel like a danger to others, someone who needed to be controlled or contained. This experience shaped how he sees himself and the world. In a strange way, this mirrors Jackson’s later treatment, though Jackson was confined after becoming a genuine threat to society. This parallel creates an unspoken empathy between them, even if neither fully understands it at first.
Trying to avoid becoming a weapon or a spectacle, Simon searched for another way to help people. He wanted to protect those who were ignored, abandoned, or failed by the system. Supers and police officers could not always help everyone, so he turned to the law. Becoming a lawyer felt like a safer, more ethical path. He began studying from a very young age, driven by a strong sense of justice. Unfortunately, another incident occurred during a court case in his youth. He witnessed how the law failed to protect people who could not afford it. The system did not help them, and the lawyer involved was powerless because of money and bureaucracy. That experience pushed Simon to become a pro bono lawyer. He genuinely wanted to help others and believed that change was possible. He was deeply idealistic, but also painfully realistic. He chose the only path that would allow him to survive while still trying to make a difference.
Years later, Simon is competent and professional, but his powers continue to affect his daily life. Because of his laser vision, he cannot maintain eye contact for more than a few seconds without risking harm. As a result, he avoids looking directly at people. This behavior is misunderstood by his coworkers, who interpret it as arrogance or superiority. They believe Simon thinks he is better than them. His boss, in particular, sees him as someone who needs to be put in his place, assuming that his silence and distance come from ego rather than fear and self control.
When Jackson’s case is announced, it is clear that it is meant to be a public spectacle. From the beginning, it is almost guaranteed to fail. That is precisely why Simon is assigned as Jackson’s lawyer. He is the youngest and least experienced, and the presence of a jury makes his poor communication skills a disadvantage. His inability to connect with people through eye contact and emotional appeal makes it unlikely that the jury will sympathize with Jackson. The firm also assumes that Jackson would dislike Simon immediately. Jackson is a man who thrives on attention, while Simon barely looks at anyone. In their eyes, Simon is expendable, and they are fully prepared for his career to be destroyed by this case.
The trial itself is not truly about justice. It is about control. Jackson is undeniably dangerous, but the goal is not simply to imprison him. The authorities want him to lose in the most humiliating way possible so they can study his powers, possibly extract samples, and analyze him. A human nuclear reactor is too valuable to ignore. Everything is arranged in advance. Even the room where Jackson is held has no visible interior, which Simon notices. He realizes that if Jackson were to escape and decide to harm him, no one would be able to intervene. That is intentional. If Jackson kills or attacks his own lawyer, it only ensures a darker future for him.
Simon’s own career is also being quietly destroyed. Defending a known villain will stain his previously clean reputation, regardless of whether he wins or loses. At the same time, Simon has begun uncovering corruption within the firm itself. Combined with the fact that he is an immigrant, this places him in an extremely vulnerable position. Every choice he makes carries serious consequences.
There are also several smaller but important details about Simon. During his first meeting with Jackson, he does not immediately notice the damage to half of Jackson’s face, partly because of the poor lighting in the room. Simon does not know how to feel about Jackson at first, and he remains cautious and distant. He is painfully aware of how often people take advantage of his kindness and his silence.
Simon struggles with depression, and possibly a depressive form of bipolar disorder, though this will never be stated explicitly in the story. It will be written subtly and based on personal experience, focusing on behavior rather than labels.
In the latest chapter, Simon rescues a small Yorkshire Terrier puppy. He is not technically allowed to keep pets where he rents, so he must hide the dog if he wants to keep it. The fact that Simon feels capable of saving the puppy after his first conversation with Jackson says a great deal about the emotional shift beginning within him. It is a quiet but meaningful moment.
This is a spoiler, but Simon eventually names the puppy Marconi, after the Italian inventor and electrical engineer often credited as the father of radio. The name reflects Simon’s love for radio, a medium he can enjoy without sight. This detail becomes especially meaningful when remembering that one of Jackson’s earliest acting jobs was a radio soap opera that did not last long. Simon happened to enjoy it, and Jackson genuinely liked performing in it.
One of the reasons Jackson begins to see Simon as a potential ally is because Simon does not see him as “Handsome Jack,” the actor or the glorified figure from films. Instead, Simon recognizes his voice. For Jackson, this is a strange relief. For the first time, he is not defined by the face that everyone else knew and admired, especially now that it is gone.
Hello, Tumblr. Please enjoy this masterpiece I made.
Gazerbeam did it cuter 😘
Übermensch [Villain GAMMABEAM AU] SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!
[Part 1 spoilers on Jack's Backstory]
Hello everyone, this is “N” speaking. As some of you may not know, I have been taking small breaks from writing my stories lately because my health worsened and my doctor advised me to rest. Even so, I did not want to stay completely inactive, so during this time I decided to write down some of my ideas. What follows are possible plot points and background details for my fanfics that I wanted to share openly.
This time, I want to focus on “Übermensch”, the villain-centered GAMMABEAM AU fanfic, originally created by 23i2que. I will be honest and say that I am making my life harder by choosing to write for this universe, mainly because the original creator is extremely kind and I genuinely want to do justice to their idea. I want this story to be enjoyable not only for them, but also for Gammabeam fans as a whole. Because of that, I feel the need to be careful and thorough. What I am sharing here includes details that will appear in future chapters, along with a timeline that is still somewhat messy and subject to change.
When it comes to Jackson Hart, his characterization is largely based on 23i2que’s original post. However, while I was writing, I realized that the post alone did not give me a complete picture of who Jackson truly is. I am also admittedly too embarrassed to ask too many direct questions, so I ended up filling in the gaps myself. This interpretation is my attempt to remain respectful to the source material while also giving the character enough depth to carry the story.
In my fanfic, Jackson is the son of a single mother. He was born around the year 1920, while the main events of the story take place in 1947. I am still uncertain about the exact ages, and I may adjust them later, since I have not mentioned a specific age in the story itself. His mother, Charlotte, discovered she was pregnant in 1919. The father was irresponsible and completely absent, which forced her to raise the child alone. In order to survive, Charlotte began working as a radium girl, a decision that would later have tragic consequences.
Jackson was born in 1920 and grew up under the constant judgment of society, as being a single mother at the time was heavily stigmatized. To avoid excessive attention and cruel assumptions, Charlotte often told people that her husband was simply away on vacation, although this explanation did not fully shield her from scrutiny. Jackson inherited his appearance from her, including his blond hair and striking features. As a child, he lived through the final years of silent films, which left a strong impression on him and later influenced his fascination with acting and image.
Charlotte was a deeply loving and affectionate mother. She constantly reassured Jackson by telling him how handsome he was, and Jackson in turn would tell her that his beauty came from her. Their bond was warm and sincere, built on mutual admiration and affection. However, as time passed, Charlotte began to suffer the devastating effects of radium exposure. Her health declined steadily, and her face became more visibly deformed with each passing year. Eventually, she died in extreme pain, leaving Jackson to witness the slow destruction of the person who meant everything to him.
For Jackson, this loss completely shattered his sense of reality. He came to believe that he had stolen his mother’s life and her beauty simply by existing. This belief twisted into guilt and obsession. From that moment on, he clung desperately to her words and to his own appearance. In his mind, he could not allow himself to lose his beauty, because it was something his mother had sacrificed everything to protect. Since she had worked herself to death for him, he convinced himself that preserving his appearance was a form of honoring her, even if that belief was deeply unhealthy.
Jackson’s hatred toward supers is rooted in multiple layers. On the surface, he is undeniably egotistical and narcissistic, and I am not trying to excuse that. As an actor, he resents how supers constantly dominate public attention and admiration. This resentment is intensified by the fact that he had to portray super-powered characters in films just to gain recognition. Playing those roles made him feel small and replaceable, as if he could never truly compete with real supers.
On a deeper level, two major events further solidified this hatred. The first was the public coverage of the radium girls tragedy. In my fanfic, the story was reported in newspapers and on the radio, but it was quickly overshadowed by news about supers. Even when supers spoke about the issue, their presence drew attention away from the victims themselves. When Jackson saw supers receiving more attention than his mother and the other women who suffered alongside her, he felt an intense and personal rage. At that time, his grief was so overwhelming that he could only think about Charlotte.
The second major event was a violent incident involving his kidnapping. Without revealing every detail, a group of villains targeted Jackson because, despite his hatred of supers, he portrayed them in films that glorified their image and even mocked real criminals. What began as a hostage situation ended disastrously during the rescue attempt. In the aftermath, the media focused almost entirely on how supers had saved the life of the famous actor Jackson Hart.
Meanwhile, smaller publications focused on his declining career. His manager eventually abandoned him, citing Jackson’s difficult behavior. With his face severely damaged and no longer considered attractive by the industry, Jackson was deemed worthless. Isolated and discarded, he once again blamed supers for everything that had gone wrong. Losing his face also meant losing the one thing he believed his mother wanted to protect above all else. Although Charlotte only wanted to care for her son, Jackson had twisted her love into an obsession that now fueled his anger and despair.
In terms of crimes, I have not yet created a complete list. So far, I have mentioned the kidnapping of a reporter, the destruction of both public and private property, and an attempted murder, specifically an attempt on his former manager’s life. I would genuinely like to know 23i2que’s thoughts on what other crimes Jackson might have committed, as their perspective would add a lot to the character.
As for Jackson and Simon, there are only a few things I will say for now. Jackson will manipulate Simon into helping him, using emotional vulnerability and dependency as tools. Over time, Jackson himself will develop an unhealthy emotional reliance on Simon. Their relationship will be complicated, unbalanced, and deeply flawed, which is exactly what makes their dynamic interesting and enjoyable to write. [Should I write a part two explaining more stuff about the story and maybe some backstory of Simon?]
joining this meme trend I saw on twitter
Villain Gammabeam is back again 👀 tried to actually come up with a villain design for Jack this time 😅 I couldn’t actually imagine him going around in his cannon supersuit in this au so I tried to mix it with a suit since he can’t let go of his Hollywood fame, I was also trying to do a Two-Face mix-match look but it just wasn’t working 😭
Also go check out this AMAZING fic based on this au !! IT IS PERFECTION 👏👏
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Background: In this au, Jack runs a secret illegal business as well as the spicertech company but uses his father as a front to hide his business. Likes hunting down rivals and killing them to keep his business on top OR just buy their company as well. His fake persona is basically his canon self.
Meanwhile, Chase is a CEO for a tourism company named the White Lotus. He may seem composed, dependable and very competent, but hes a very obsessive person. Initially liked Wuya who knew that Chase had a crush on her and found it endearing so she proceeds to play hard to get which frustrates Chase but he still pursues. Reason why he likes her? He likes feisty people, and Wuya was the only person in the company who had the guts to go against him and sass him as well. Small note: made chase alittle pathetic here just cause I want to see him in another way for once hihihihi
A FRIEND OF MINE MADE A FANFIC BASED ON THIS AU!!! You should check it out on AO3, its called Uncomfortable Truths but ill still provide the link to the fic :)) https://archiveofourown.org/works/68760426
