digging that eternal bed
"Seven hells, Cersei, the others can take the chessboard," he muttered darkly in response, anger only growing at this statement. What was power and the game of thrones when his twin needed protecting? On a normal day, he could not care less about the pawns and the moves, but on a day such as today, when she appeared in his chambers with a bruised cheek, he wanted nothing more than to scatter all the carefully placed pieces and wreck havoc over it all. Power was not worth it.
"I cannot promise that," he grumbled, averting his gaze from hers because he knew those pleading emerald pools would be what broke him. She knew exactly what to do, what to say to whip him back into shape but this time he was determined that he would not fall for her trickery. That was, unless she brought her skin into the equation. That still had the power to force him to submit to her whims,
"I would not be so foolish to get myself caught, sweet sister," he scoffed, fingers gently caressing the fabric covering her back as he sensed her fear. While he may not be willing to give in to her, he would not leave her fearful if he could manage. "Father would never let them imprison me. So help them if they tried. Moreover, I would not let them catch me.”
She regretted coming to see him, some small part of her, but she wouldn't voice it. Regretted it only because now it seemed to spur him on, goad him into an action she didn't want his hands bloodied with. She murmured a soft prayer to the Mother, and ducked herself close, pressing her palm against his chest. "I cannot lose you, Jaime. Not because of him, no matter the cost. You would have to go on the run and I would have to follow.." Leaning back again, her gaze implored him.
She wasn't truly panicked and worried -- he was right, Father would never let them arrest Jaime, and even so, Jaime could go on the run -- he had already earned the title, why not earn it again, in blood? She wished she could be there, to see Robert's face.. but it was a coin toss as to whether it would truly take place or not.
She exhaled a soft sound and leaned up to kiss him, curling her fingers in the fabric of his tunic. "Promise me you'll give this the thought of three days, Jaime, before you come to your final decision."
