This RPer took the Roleplay Anti-Hate Pledge Hey there, I'm Ariel and I am a Sophomore over at Enchanted Rose University, which is super exciting!. Anyways I guess I should tell you a little something about myself? Okay let's start with the simple things. I know what you might be thinking, typical girl that obeys by daddy's rules and stays out of trouble but that isn't the truth. I love adventure and going out of my way to find it, even if it gets me in trouble 100% of the time. You will most likely see me running around the halls from time to time with my sidekick aka my little guppy Flounder. (Don't tell him I told you that though, he hates when I call him a guppy, even if it's true.) Any who, that's a little tidbit about myself and if you'd like to know more about me just find me around the halls, I'm sure to be out there somewhere.
"Good choice, that is like one of my all time favorites! I don't use it that much unless I really want to bug him which is like 99.9 percent of the time."
Mary Ann barely saw Ariel pop out of the water until she was just before her, begging her to come along. “Woah woah woah Sweetie. Slow it down for one moment. I can’t come swimming, I doubt I could hold my breath long enough to even see one mermaid. I’d love to come Elle, but logically I can’t.”
Ariel frowned but she wouldn't give up. "There has to be a way somehow. I doubt they'd come up here, I think all the humans scare them. There has to be a way that you can see them without you getting hurt, there just has to."
"I now know exactly what to say if I ever need him to leave for a moment. Thanks Elle! Tell me, do movies work just as well, or is it only television shows?"
Spying a shock of red hair, Mary Ann waved and watched her friend dive back down. She loved how adventurous Ariel seemed, and how eager she was to explore every new crevice and cave. It almost made Mary Ann’s forest walks look tame by comparison.
She shifted her gaze up to the sky, watching the clouds of cotton flit by, and the group of seagulls circle overhead. It certainly wasn’t a canopy of leaves like she was used to, but it was special in its own way. She interlaced her fingers and brought them before her, letting herself sink into her own thoughts and feelings for the moment.
Excitement flooded all of Ariel's emotions to the point where she couldn't swim still, she needed Annie to see the mermaids, she needed validation that was she was seeing was real life. Before another thought Ariel swam up to the shore as fast as she could and went over to where Mary Ann was sitting.
"Annie! Annie! You have to come! There are mermaids like a ton of them! Like more than you can count on one hand it's just so spectacular! C'mon you have to see them, they're so beautiful!"
As Flounder's arms wrapped around her small frame she knew it was him almost instantaneously. It wasn't the first time something like that had happened and she knew it probably wouldn't be the last. "Daddy didn't scare you enough last time huh? If only he could see you now." Ariel recalled the last time her father was around when Flounder hugged her, she had never seen anyone so afraid in her entire life. But these circumstances were different, her father wasn't around but in the back of her mind she entertained the thought of him showing up again and scaring Flounder, now that would be something.
Taking a short cut through the small alleyway to get back to her dorm Ariel was as alert as ever. So when two arms wrapped around her from behind she was quick to lunge forward and out of the male's grip. She was just about to punch him out and run like hell until she saw who exactly had come so close to her. "God damn it Fig! I could have hurt you or something, what are you doing here, jesus christ." Ariel put her hand on her heart and placed her back against the wall to try and steady herself. This encounter made her scared enough to want to take the long way home for the rest of her life.
Ariel let out a squeal as feminine hands wrapped around her. She recognized the girls' painted nails in an instant and a smile spread on her face. "Rita! Where have you been? Come here, love." Ariel turned around and held onto her friend. "It's so good to see you!"
Ariel jumped a bit when she felt arms around her hips, she was about to push away when she realized who it was. "Oh Annie you scared the bejeezus out of me!" Ariel found herself laughing as she turned around and gave her friend a big hug. "There that's better."
"I’m guessing Flounder isn’t exactly fond of shows like this? What a shame, it seems like it’s really good." Mary Ann giggled and relaxed more into the sofa.
"Not exactly no, he's not into these 'girly' shows, I think I've tortured him too much with them to the point where I even mention them he like runs out of the room."
Mary Ann reclined against the rock, watching the waves and trying to see if she could find Ariel or any other mermaids peeking out of the water. It was absolutely gorgeous outside, and more peaceful than she could have hoped.
Ariel hovered next to the mermaid for a minute, just looking at her before she decided to check back up on Annie. She felt a little bad for just leaving her up there but she knew her friend was alright with that. She was always so loving and calm about everything and that was part of the reason why Ariel loved being around her so much.
She peeked up out from the water and found Mary Ann. Noticing that her friend was doing alright she dove back into the water and joined her new friend. The other mermaid led her into a tiny sea cave and once they entered Ariel could see dozens of other merpeople that were just like her. She was so excited she hugged the first mermaid she saw.
"No worries,” Robin chuckled, watching Ariel dig through … well, practically everything. He was hovering near the door way as she looked for the roller blades. It was actually kind of amusing to watch her, since she seemed to have stuff coming out of everywhere. It reminded him a bit of his room, when he actually had stuff to leave in it. Robin was just about to open his mouth and offer his help when she apparently found what she had been looking for.
Wandering over to the bed, he watched as Ariel all but disappeared before emerging with a couple of pairs of skates. He took the ones offered to him, eyeing them up and then looking down at his feet. There was a moment where he vaguely wondered why she even had this many pairs of skates, much less ones that could even potentially fit Robin. But he decided not to push it, since it wasn’t really that important in the grand scheme anyway. “Might be a bit snug, but it’ll work. I don’t have any of my own anyway,” he shrugged, chuckling a bit.
"Yay! Fantastic! I knew those would come in handy, my sisters never used them anyway." Ariel shrugged her shoulders then grabbed her own pair, not even bothering to clean up the mess she had made on her and her roommates bed. She didn't think Jazz would mind though, she wasn't really at the cabin during the day anyway, which gave Ariel just enough time to fix things when she got back. Well if she even decided to sleep in her cabin that night, but that was a different story.
"Okay umm we have the skates now we just need to go find somewhere to skate at. Are you ready for the adventure? It's going to be super fun!" Ariel grabbed her skates and headed for the door. She was ready to go out there and have some fun, that's what summer was all about, just going out there and living. It didn't matter much to her if they found a place to skate or not, as long as she had fun searching for one, things would be alright for her.
On the evenings when the mermaids rose through the water like this, arm in arm, their youngest sister stayed behind all alone, looking after them and wanting to weep. But a mermaid has no tears, and therefore she suffers so much more.
