I just wanted to say that after reading some of your smuts, one thing I absolutely love is how you write Sonic and Shadow when they sleep together. It feels tender and spicy at the same time, and it works so well. I really love how you treat them as equals and write them as switches, even if you lean more toward Top Shadow (lol).
For me, that fits Shadow really naturally, since he enjoys control and domination. At the same time, I really like how you show him being more vulnerable when he’s in a submissive position, because it’s outside his comfort zone. Being the Ultimate Life Form, it makes sense that submission wouldn’t come easily to him or feel satisfying right away because of his strength. I like to think Sonic is one of the few who can genuinely bring Shadow into that place of trust and meet him as an equal in strength. (😏)
As for Sonic, I can also see him as a top sometimes. In canon, they’re equals in terms of power, but when Sonic chooses to submit because… it’s Shadow. And when Sonic is on top, you can really feel how attentive and caring he is. He feels like the reason Shadow is able to open up and allow himself to be vulnerable. I also love how quiet Shadow gets in those moments, because it makes total sense that he’d struggle to talk when he feels exposed. Honestly, I relate to that a lot 🤣
Overall, in canon Sonic always feels like a total ambivert to me, not fully extroverted or introverted, but very much “I’ll do whatever I want.” So it’s no surprise that these two are so competitive, even about positions lol. When Shadow is on top, he enjoys provoking, exploring, and being intense in a good way. When Sonic is on top, it’s more playful, caring, and attentive. I really love that balance in the way you write them.

It means a lot to me that you notice that about the way I write them. Tender spice is my favorite smut flavor. For me, if there are no feels, I don’t want it. That’s what makes it sexy to me. My little demisexual heart is uninterested in physical pleasure only. Their dynamic is part of why I love them so much. There’s this constant give and take, respect and challenge. I write them as switches even if I do have a personal preference for top Shadow hehe For me, the way I understand and write their characters, they enjoy changing it up. No set roles.
I don’t see Shadow as someone who participates in or enjoys casual sex either. I headcanon him as demi (am I projecting? Maaaaaybe. Lol) and also feel that he sees sex as a vulnerability engagement that he’s uninterested in sharing with just anyone. Sonic has his respect at the very least, and then his trust, and eventually his love. For Sonic he would be vulnerable. I think it’s super cool you can relate to the way I write Shadow because honestly, obviously, lol same 🫱🏻🫲🏻
