The child blinks a few times, a look of curiosity upon his face. He did not get the mans comment upon research, and was more interested in how different he looked from the people of his village. He wondered how the man got here, what with the dangers outside his home. He lit back up when a boat was mentioned though.
“My Daddy owns a boat! That’s t’only one around really anymore, cause people took all t’others.”
He reminded Ugo briefly of another child he’d known long before this encounter—and in doing so, a smile spread brightly upon his face. He kneeled down to meet the boy eye-to-eye, ruffling his hair playfully as he spoke.
“Fantastic! If you don’t mind, young one, could you lead me to your father’s boat? I don’t want to use it, but I do need to find actual seawater—there’s something special in there that I’ve taken an interest in.”
The boy seemed pleased that someone needed to rely on him- he loved being helpful! He hummed happily and grabbed the man’s hand, nodding eagerly at the question, obviously happy.
“OKay! It’s right down here by the docks! It’s a super big boat too! Daddy’s using it right now though!” so it was good this guy didn’t wanna use it. The young child began leading them to the docks.
