Some mornings...

Fridays tend to be my best day tip-wise at work, but things were starting off pretty slow (as in zero) this morning. About two hours through my shift and nothing but dust in my tip jar, an everyday regular comes in for his $2 cup of brewed coffee. We have our usual pleasant exchange, after which he pulls out two $5 bills, hands one to me and plunks the other right in the tip jar. He cuts off my initial protest with a giant genuine smile on his face and says, "I'm never really able to afford to tip you, but today is going to be a great day." I handed him his change, and you know what? It was a great day.
