Noel was laying on the ground near the water, the breeze there made it colder and she liked that. She was flipping through a songbook without really paying attention to it when she heard someone walking past, their shadow blocking her from the sun. âMove, youâre blocking my light.â
as nova was walking around, she really didnât pay much attention to the people surrounding her, as per usual. she was so used to being by herself that socializing seemed to be out of the picture unless she was talked to first. as she ate one of the cookies she had, she stood in front of the water of the lake, silently staring at the water that it was almost creepy. she didnât realize that someone was behind her until they spoke. thatâs when nova turned around and looked at the blonde blankly, then took on step to the right. âbetter?â
âgood for you.â mari breathed, more of an acknowledgement that she heard what the girl said than a real response. she stood still for a moment when the girl patted the ground and asked her to join. mari had been up on her feet all day. just moments ago she had been enraged by her father, but that anger seemed to have seeped away now that she had shifted her attention. though all sheâd been able to think for the past hour was that she wanted to crash into her bed and just pass out, maybe it would be good to sit down and just.. socialize.
she carefully sat down next to the girl. pulling her knees to her chest and wrapping her arms around it while peering up at the sky. âi know next to nothing about stars.â she sighed. âbut theyâre very pretty to look at. iâm mari by the way. i canât remember weâve ever officially met?â
âtheyâre interesting to learn about.â she responded quietly, staring up at the sky again. she could sit up, but her dog looked like she was too comfortable on novaâs stomach. âthereâs a lot of stories.â she shrugged, then looked over at the blonde once again and shook her head in response. âiâm nova lee.â the daughter of nyx introduced herself like she usually did out of habit, forgetting that sometimes people didnât realize that was her full name. âiâve... iâve seen you around before.âÂ
âAnd itâs almost your curfew.â she stated stepping out of the way of the eyesight of Jupiter and laying down next to Nova. She hadnât come out to criticise her about curfew. It would be hypocritical of her. Lilith liked the stars, but had never been good at identifying them. âWhat are the stars saying tonight?âÂ
nova shrugged her shoulders as if asking âso?â, then averted her eyes back to the sky. she didnât mind that someone was joining her, even if it was someone she didnât really know. itâs funny how sheâs been in the camp for so long but never felt like she truly knew anyone. ânothing good.â she answered simply, eyes wandering around the familiar constellations that she could spot so fast. ânot surprising.âÂ
â  got it, cutie.  â  city lights had always shielded mickyâs view of the stars, a canopy of neon tucking her in each night. it was only when she moved to camp half-blood that she could truly learn to appreciate the night sky; even though there was rarely enough time. â  thereâs a pretty sweet view from half-blood hill, if youâre willing to risk your life over the camp borders for the sake of the stars.  â
nova was silent for a moment, having a flashback from back when she was ten years old and still wasnât claimed. a time when she wanted to look at the clear sky from halfblood hill, only to almost get killed in the process if it wasnât for one of the hermes kids being with her. âi donât like watching the stars from there.â she answered simply. âitâs... scary.âÂ
mari rolled her eyes, but not necessarily like she was very annoyed. she simply turned her phone around again, and locked it. her eyes had to get used to the dark, but the shapes at her feet slowly formed into the girl and her dog. âthatâs a neat trick.â she said, hiding her surprise at the girl and her pet becoming invisible for a moment. after two years she still wasnât really used to peopleâs powers. âi guess thatâs the most convenient way of outrunning the harpies.â she sighed. it wasnât like the minor campers really cared about the curfew. though mari herself was happy she never had to deal with it. the harpies scared her, like any monster at camp they came way too close for comfort, but of course sheâd never admit that. it didnât keep her from worrying about them though, and it didnât keep her from worrying about younger campers running around after sundown. âi guess a daughter of the night is pretty safe after dark. and youâve got your dog.â
a little smile appeared on the younger girlâs face, which was something that sometimes people barely saw. âit works well.â she responded with a nod, her hand softly running through the fur of her dog. âweâre powerful at night, yes.â nova nodded one more time, then patted the empty space beside her. âyou can join me if you want.âÂ
âso, uh⊠guess thatâs that.â adrian spoke up after catching the whip and dragma appearing over his head. ânemesis. huh. i- wait, is this because i got back at the dude who cut ahead of me at that bar last night?â
nova looked at the glowing symbols that appeared briefly over the boyâs head in amazement. claiming was always one of her favorite parts about the camp, and it never got old to the young girl. ânemesis?â she repeated. âare you someone who fights for justice?âÂ
the night time dew soaked their grass stained superstars as micky made their way across the green, shoulders hunched against the slight chill that was beginning to permeate the air. their initial fright did not come from the presence of the brunette, as they could see her clear as day, but from the fact that the other had spoken a word at all. â  are we fans of jupiter now? planet or not, the name gives me chills.  â   Â
ânot of the god.â she answered. nova knew about everyoneâs mutual dislike for zeus and his roman counterpart, and she wouldnât be excluded from the majority. âthe planet is close today and i wanted to see it.â she explained simply.Â
at least if amiria would be coming it wouldâve been kind of fun. but as far as mari knew amiriaâs dad wasnât attending. the blonde was so absorbed in her raging email that she didnât realise she almost walking into someone. or rather, over someone. most kids were inside their cabins at this point. in fact mari was on her way over to hers. but apparently someone thought it appropriate to lay on the ground in the middle of the damn green. âjupiter?â she asked confused, a bit in shock that she just almost stepped on someone. then her eyes looked up to the starry sky and she got what was going on here. âthis is a bit of an inconvenient spot for stargazing iâd say. but whatever floats your boat i guess.â she mentioned, using the light of her phone screen to illuminate the person lying at her feet. one of the few nyx kids, if she was correct. one of the younger campers too. âespecially since youâre making it way too easy for the harpies to find you when curfew comes around.â
âjupiter.â she replied simply, pointing at the sky. the planet wasnât visible without binoculars, but nova knew exactly where it was at this moment, and could easily point it out. she retracted her hand, along with the other one that was holding her star chart, resting above each other against her stomach, just above where he pet was resting on her body. but only a few seconds later, she was using her free hand to shield her eyes from the light coming from the familiar girlâs phone. âcan you please move your light? iâm going blind.â she said calmly, never one to get angry or annoyed about anything.Â
she could see the girl clearly in the dark, as if it was daytime. sheâs seen the blonde girl before, and she was sure she was from the aphrodite cabin. nova was always someone who recognized people by their faces, but never by a name. âthe harpies canât see me.â she responded simply, and as if trying to prove a point, she used the shadows surrounding her to momentarily make herself invisible, along with her things around her, as if she wasnât there at all, before she reappeared again.Â
laying on a blanket in the green when it was almost the younger campersâ curfew probably wasnât a good idea. but there nova was, a book about constellations beside her, a star chart in her hands, even though she didnât need either of them because of her pre-existing knowledge of stars. her big and dark wolfdog, cana, was laying across novaâs stomach as if she was a little puppy. suddenly and out of nowhere, a shadow blocked her view from the sky, making her focus on it and realize it was a person approaching her. âyouâre blocking jupiter.â she said simply.Â
Freya was busy playing with the vines on the ground when she heard someone walk up, âI remember when we werenât allowed to make grapes because of Dionysus.â She made a bunch of grapes sprout from the vine before dropping them. Looking up at her visitor she stood fully, brushing her hands off on her pants. âDid you need something?â
nova watched her friend curiously from the side, having just walked up to her silently a moment ago. she didnât say anything until freya had stood up and was facing her, and instead of answering her question, she asked her own. âwhy were you not allowed to grow grapes?âÂ
birthday: november 13th, 2001 - 16 years old ; scorpio
daughter of nyx
has been at camp since she was 10. got claimed at 11.
novaâs always been an outcast. someone kids avoided at school or made fun of, mostly for her quiet and mysterious personality, even getting called creepy for it when there was nothing creepy about her
well... she did say that she can communicate with dogs, and everyone laughed at her for it :(Â
she liked to keep to herself a lot of the time, not sharing a lot of things about herself unless she was asked to
she found out she was a demigod from her father, who said he was taking her to a normal summer camp when she was ten, but she ended up finding out the truth when she got there.Â
before that, sheâs lived with her father in brooklyn. she used to be a summer camper, until recently when he was getting better job offers and having to travel to different places. now nova stays year-round, unless heâs back.Â
her powers appeared slowly. when she was much younger, she knew she could talk to dogs and see in the dark, but she was never claimed until a year after arriving at camp
it was when she had accidentally made herself disappear through shadows and became invisible. she was stuck like that for a while until she figured out how to stop being invisible. thatâs when nyx claimed her
nova has a black wolfdog pet named cana. sheâs friendly and peaceful, and would protect nova if needed, but only through her orders.Â
fun fact, nova thought her first name was nova lee until she was like 9.Â
so she had a habit of introducing herself as nova lee and people would think thatâs her first name too. she found out from her father that that was both her full name and not just her first, but by then, sheâd already gained the habit of introducing herself like that and forgetting to let people know it was her full name.Â
space enthusiast tbh she loves talking about it
dark clothes 24/7. she looks like sheâs going through an emo phase, but sheâs really notÂ
