I'm not sure if I'm stating the obvious or not, but I've been exploring Slay The Princess routes (note I've not gotten all the vessels or endings yet), and the differences, and similarities between Broken, and Cold voices are interesting to me. At first on the surface at least to me they seemed similar. Both kind of depressing, a bit unwell, came from bad decisions in game, even give similar dialogue occasionally, but when I started to do more routes I realize how different they are.

Cold isn't just a more monotone broken or whatever he's unfeeling, numb. He seems to even try to inflict this numbness onto others, or just generally likes upsetting/annoying other like the narrator, princess, smitten, ect. Which is interesting cuz he has no means to an end other than having just something happen. Not caring if it's bad or not which also goes in with their coldness.

Yet Broken is basically the embodiment of misery likes company. Kinda like cold does he recognizes misery in other, but he always seems to be sympathetic to a fault. While Cold solution is just numbness Broken offers compassion, understanding. The Fury(ripping atoms version), and The Cage are great examples of why they're so different because you can have both of them in separate routes. The Fury broken/cold are the only ones that stayed after the whole atom thing however for cold he stayed because he still was himself since nothing really happened, you can't alter nothing, but Broke even if kind of similar he specifically saids "I'm going to stick around, as long as you need me to" he stayed around so the mc would have company for what you're going through. Even a small line like saying "I know" to the narrator saying they're tired or at the end where he says "it's just the three of us now"referring to the mc, him, and the princess while Cold says "it's just the two of us now" only referring to him, and mc, perhaps of a bit over analyzation but it's probably too convey that the princess doesn't matter since the only thing you're left with is numbness, him. That you're stuck with him whether you like it or not.
